Golden Steer Steakhouse Las Vegas Reviews from The Last Year
My family and I were looking forward to eating here and for
My family and I were looking forward to eating here and for the experience. However, after spending $850 on a meal for four, I was extremely disappointed. It was my son's birthday and from the very moment we walked in, we were harassed about his attire by three different people there. He was wearing sweatpants (nice Lulu ones), but apparently this was not ok even though other people were wearing shorts, torn ripped jeans, leggings, and some very revealing clothing. My 17 year old son was the threat for some reason and honestly we should have just walked away from that moment. Again, it was his birthday dinner and they made him feel like crap before we even sat down. The meals were not really good either. The calamari seemed to be out of a frozen box, the steaks were fatty and hard to cut through and the lobsters that they advertise so much were chewy. We also spent most of the night taking turns in the bathroom because something wasn't prepared well. If you are thinking about eating here... think again if you want overpriced meal, disrespectful staff, and honestly a horrible atmosphere. Again, my son wearing sweats was a major issue, but they didn't care about the loud drunk women making a scene at their "supposed high end restaurant."
We flew to Las Vegas JUST to have dinner here after we saw
We flew to Las Vegas JUST to have dinner here after we saw the videos of the lobster and king crab on Facebook. We each ordered a lobster tail and the king crab legs and it was ALL over-cooked, it was dry and hard and even the butter tasted flavorless! It was our first time splurging on such a fancy dinner, but since it was for my 62nd birthday, we were excited to do something special. More than $500 later, we left feeling disappointed and threw it in the trash. We should have sent it back, but didn't want to make a scene. We even left $100 tip. To the manager: it would be nice if you made this right.
I donโt get the hype?
I know this is controversial in light of all the reviews and hype we heard before our visitโฆ but we thought Golden Steer was just โokโ. Not terrible, but not special either. Our visit came with a price tag of nearly $1000 in total for 3 couples, and that just simply isnโt justified. We arrived on time for our reservation which Iโd made 6 months in advance. Weโre from England and I explained that this was a surprise trip for my husbandโs 50th birthday and so I requested a booth if that was possible to make the experience extra special. We were greeted by chaotic scenes at the front desk where the staff seemed under pressure and very flustered. We were told that, sorry a booth wasnโt possible because someone had just sat down in it and wouldnโt be moved. Weird. Quite an unprofessional first impression. We were then told that our table was being prepared and we stood at the desk for about 10 minutes with no communication. Very disappointing start to our highly anticipated visit. We were eventually sat in a back (side?) room with 3 other tables already seated. The place had no buzz and we felt that we werenโt in the actual restaurant. There was a door beside us which waiters constantly used and cold air blew on to our table every time it was opened. It felt like we were in a walkway to somewhere else! The food was good. Nothing special. We ordered the Caesar salad, 2 couples had the longhorn and lobster tail (at $255!), a filet and prime rib with various sides. The waiter kindly brought out a birthday slice of cheesecake for my husband which was sweet. We had a couple of drinks each and the bill at the end came to almost $1000. Thereโs just no way it was worth that. It was such a shame weโd waited for so long and been so excited to experience an amazing evening when what we actually received was a mediocre experience and all wished weโd saved our money and gone elsewhere. I wonder if thereโs a little bit of trading on reputation and past glory going on here?
Amazing, everything was simply amazing! Highly recommend
Amazing, everything was simply amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Las Vegas.
Incredible Private Room Experience
I had the good fortune to attend a private event (only 10 of us) in one of their dining rooms on a Saturday night. The owner spoke to us about the history of the restaurant, and validated what we had guessed, that this was a special place! Some of the staff have been there forever. But that didn't mean they weren't nimble and competent. The experience was amazing. We had terrific food (amazing apps, excellent shellfish, perfect temp steaks, etc.), excellent wines from a really good wine list, and just incredible service. It's a throwback in so many ways, but has a really modern take on high-end service. The meal prep/timing/technique was flawless, which made it worth the expense. If you have the budget and want a true Las Vegas experience for a business meal in a private dining setting, I'd recommend Golden Steer wholeheartedly.

Extremely good food and the service was impeccable!! We love the old nostalgic atmosphere!
This place has some old school class.
Food was great. Service was how a great steak's house should be.
Yes, it's worth it.
It took us three months to get a reservation. And it was worth it. We were seated in the John Wayne booth, with a great view in the front room of the Marilyn Monroe booth. Service is of course exquisite here and the music selection is perfect in both tunes and volume. The house bread is boring and not worth taking up any valuable stomach real estate. Push it aside. The tableside Caesar is a great show and the salad is fresh and crisp. Ours had a bit too much lemon for me and although a damn good salad, I didn't like it nearly as much as the one on offer at Carbone. YMMV. For our main course, we wanted to share and that wasn't frowned upon. We did one of the "Ship and Shore" dinners and I'm so glad we did... not only do these come with one salad and a side, but honestly even sharing the plate of the Shorthorn (16-oz NY Strip) and crab legs (3 very large legs, pre-split) we couldn't finish everything. The steak was perfect... so tender and flavorful. The crab legs were amazing and I just love the way they're served... pre-split and all you have to do is pull that perfectly fresh crab out and dip in some butter. We had the twice-baked potato as a side and it was good but I think I may split a baked potato next time. I felt like we couldn't leave without one of the flaming desserts, so Cherries Jubilee natch! Again, the show is awesome and the dessert was unforgettable. Highly recommend! This is a must do, and it's one of the few things that actually does live up to the hype. Just do it - you won't regret it.
The service was good, and so was our steak and seafood
The service was good, and so was our steak and seafood tower. I wasn't crazy about the cocktail menu so I switched to water. We also had the table side Caeser salad which was fun but it didn't taste great. I made a reservation way in advance and the only slot was 9:45. I just don't think it was worth the hype, and the prices are outrageously expensive, much more than any other fine dining joint.
Came for bachelor party, didn't enjoy.
I can cook steak better. After all the boomers are gone this place will disappear. What do they offer other than nostalgia to old people?
Cool place w awesome food and history
This place is phenomenal! Amazing staff and food. The experience of the service was top notch. Salads made table side, had a tomahawk steak that we shared between 4 people w pieces to spare. Cooked too perfection. Sides def shareable. We had a party of 14 and they were able to make us all feel comfortable and get what we needed and wanted. Dessert flambeed tableside was fun to watch. A great place for days night or friends gathering. It is a bit pricey so look up the menu before going so there's no sticker shock.
Food was amazing! Sevice very good.
It took a long time to get a reservation & had to settle for an 8:30 time, which is later than normal eating time for us.

Wonderful place, been trying to go for a while now and got lucky with an open reservation. Very minimal wait time, treated us great and respectful. Loved the food, can't wait to go back.
We had to go.
It is an institution. The service was excellent and the ambience was "old school, rat pack" steakhouse. The shrimp cocktail was great. They have atomic horseradish. The wedge salad was also very good. I ordered the $105 12 ounce Australian Lobster Tail. It was about 1-2 minutes over cooked, but beautifully presented and with melted butter...very good. My husband's filet was very tender. We ordered it Rare+ but it was medium rare. That was ok because it was a beautiful piece of beef. The side veg was just fine. We will go back for the prime rib. They are known for that. We loved the old school feel.
Ambiance was nice and service was professional and
Ambiance was nice and service was professional and attentive but the 24 oz ribeye was tough, perhaps not aged?--at about $100 your ribeye should be great and succulent, n'est-ce pas? Chicken dish and most sides were decent but how hard is it to make crispy not mushy steak fries? I'm sorry to say the food is not remotely on par with the top steak places in NYC or LA. For these prices there are many choices in Vegas.
Mostly good
We had a very nice evening here. Our reservation was for 9:00 and we were seated by 9:15. The sommelier was a super pro and the team that worked our table was great. Our server was a little green but he was nice and working on his technique. The lobster tail was an 8/10. A little dry, but still very flavorful. At $109 a tail, I did expect a little more precision in the cooking; someone came out while we were halfway through our salads to ask if we were ready for our lobster. When we said no, perhaps they went under a heat lamp? The macaroni and cheese was tasty and the wedge salad was just okay. When our server asked if weโd like regular ice or a big cube in our bourbon, we were a little surprised that the โbig cubeโ was a $2 up charge. Still, a very good dinner, very nice staff, and a very lovely experience. I would go back and give it another chance.
Amazing
Incredible restaurant. The steaks were some of the best we have ever had. Amazing desserts with many to choose from. You canโt beat the nostalgia of this place.
Golden Steer
Impossible to get reservations unless you book months in advance. But you can go and sit at the bar or be put on wait list and still eat here. We saw this place on the news, so we were so excited to try it. It is OK, but not that great. The steak was OK quality and cooked at correct temperature. The lobster was overcooked. The French fries were suppose to be gluten free but they fry the calamari in the same fryer. Luckily the waiter came out and left me know before I ate any. Not many GF options for appetizers. It is expensive for the quality they give you.
Vegas icon fails to impress.
Had a terrible time at the Golden Steer. My girlfriend is a local of Las Vegas and had told me of how historic and charming this place was. We tried to drop in for a casual drink at the bar (which she had done many times in the past). We had nobody to greet us at the door, so we worked our way towards the bar. It was full, so we waited our turn for a nice couple to finish up and offer us their bar stools. As we sat down we were confronted by a rather curt bar tender telling us that we were not entitled to seat ourselves and that we needed to join a waiting list to even sit at the bar. Something neither of us had encountered in the past at any bar. When we asked if we could join the wait list to even sit at the bar he told us not to bother. So we left. Itโs sad that we had to leave with such a sour impression of what is reputed to be a LV icon.
A classic never dies!
We had an 8pm reservation. We werenโt seated until around 8:45 but that was explained when we checked in. Apparently a power outage from the night before so they were trying to squeeze in some reservations from the night before. For as long as it takes to get a reservation here, I completely understood. If ours was cancelled and moved to the next night under those circumstances Iโd be plenty happy so we were very understanding. Now, they did make this up to us by bringing us a few complementary items. We started with a table side Caesar salad. It was perfection as always. It never lets down and I get it to start every time. One person in our party of four got the French onion soup. She said it was great. Next they brought out the butchers cut meatballs. Good size and so flavorful. These were a complementary item brought to us for our long wait. Iโd order these next time I visit as an appetizer for sure. My wife ordered the eggplant parm and she was also given a side of the toasted ravioli. She loved the eggplant parm and said the raviolis were pretty good. One of my friends ordered the chicken parm and said it was one of the best heโs ever had. Myself and one other friend ordered the ribeye. Both had it cooked medium rare and it was perfectly medium rare. Tons of flavor! Iโve ordered the ribeye every time Iโve come here and itโs always a great choice. We had the whipped potatoes as a side and also the garlic Parmesan broccoli. The potatoes were so creamy and full of flavor. The broccoli was pretty good. I donโt think Iโd order the broccoli again but it wasnโt bad, just not worth getting again. Iโd go back to the asparagus like I normally get. We capped it off with a table side bananas foster and a Spumoni Bomba. Both were amazing desserts. Service, as always was a 200/10. Very attentive. My wine glass never reached empty until I refused a refill. These servers were working their tales off all over the room and were absolutely killing it. We will be back again!
Not sure it is worth the hype
It is incredibly loud which takes away quite a bit from the enjoyment.
Ordered shrimp cocktail (excellent), seafood stuffed mushroom caps ( sorry average), Caesar Salad (very good but very messy presentation).
2 of us had Prime Rib. After waiting more than 40 minutes between courses, it finally arrived. One ordered medium rare and it arrived blue and the meat was incredibly tough and NOT prime grade. Second was ordered medium and it arrived medium well to well done. Also not the most tender cut. Wine list is reasonable and prices are just as high as all the nicer resort restaurants.
Iโve had better steaks and better experiences at many other places in LV for similar prices.
Dinner for 2 came out to $1057.
Retirement Event
A little pricey, but for a special occasion we splurged. Staff was great. Twice baked potatoes were delicious as were the meatballs.
Old world charm
Went here with the guys, about 12 of us ages 45 to 60. I think Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Junior were there that night too. But seriously if you want the feel of old Las Vegas when you were treated like a king, this is the place. The food, service and atmosphere are fantastic.
Best Steakhouse we have ever been to!!
I will say that my son made the reservation too late for us to make a show after dinner, they were extremely accommodating getting us in earlier even though they were fully booked so we could make the show. These people are sooooo nice and pleasant. The food was outstanding, we all had Caesar salad done at our table (The best we all have ever had) and steaks and lobsters that were outstanding. Service was incredible!! We sat in the booth where Elvis always sat after each of his shows. We all will definitely be back, soooo good!!!
Amazing Food and Experience
As advertised. Amazing food and experience.
best steakhouse ive ever dined at
great quality meat

Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been โmatchedโ with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!
