Han Dynasty West 85th Street New York Reviews from The Last Year
This place is GASSSS.
Went in on a Monday night and it was deserted. Felt like we were royalty at the Han Dynasty for the night. Service was fantastic and the music was good. It wasn't noisy and the songs were bumping, we had to ask who was on aux. The spicy, crunchy cucumbers might be the best cucumber salad I've ever had. It's so good, I'm trying to recreate it at home and I just can't nail it 100%. The chicken wings were delightfully hot, crunchy, and juicy. It was spicy but spicy in a way where your mouth salivates, yearning for more...not spicy to where we were crying from heat. Stir fry was good, drinks were good, portions are good, prices are great. All pros, no cons. Looking forward to when the patio is open next time I'm in New York!
I'm not sure why this place only has 2 $$.
It was quite expensive considering a friend and I had lunch (not dinner) there and the bill was $120. However, the food was good except the house fried rice left something to be desired. I had chicken with garlic sauce and I had no complains.
Those slightly overpriced the food is really nice.
I really like the Dandan noodles. The tofu schezwan with rice and the fried rice is absolutely amazing.
Terrible food.
Not authentic at all. We ordered beef noodle soup and the spicy beef noodle soup. The food was served literally 10 seconds after we ordered. Beef had a not fresh taste with one bite so I didn't eat it at all. Note sure how Yelp could give it a 4.0 review. We were scammed. Should have avoided after seeing so few customers inside.
I was disappointed on my recent visit to Han Dynasty.
We were a party of 7 on a Saturday night, celebrating a birthday Food: We ordered several appetizers and dinners. Appetizers: scallion pancakes (good), spring rolls (okay), fried dumplings (good). We ordered six entrees: Chinese eggplant (was the best entree). Shrimp and Vegetables ( not great and much left on plate). Green beans with minced pork (awful). 2 Hot pot shrimp (one not eaten). Our bill was 350.00. Including tip. Three glasses of wine. Service was good and attentive. Ambiance was noisy, unattractive. Overall, not good enough to consider a return to Han Dynasty.
Best upper west side Chinese
Han dynasty has amazing authentic Chinese cuisine. We have been eating here for several years and the food is always delicious. It’s a large restaurant with ample seating and the service is very attentive and they make an excellent martini!
We had a terrible experience at the restaurant.
The food was awful and overly spiced. We ordered duck, but it was mostly bones with very little meat. So, we decided to order chicken instead, but it was mostly batter with very little filling, making it hard to tell if we were eating chicken or chicken puree. However, the service was excellent; they tried to make up for the bad food by offering us free ice cream, which unfortunately, wasn't good either.
We were looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant, and
We were looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant, and didn't want go to China town. So we found this gem! We entered in the middle of the day on a Sunday. Wasn't busy, thankfully for us! First of all the place is huge. Looks are quite deceiving. This place is deep!! We were immediately greeted by a hostess who sat us. Then a server came by. We ordered the Wontons in chili oil! They were so good. Had some "kick" to them! But what impressed me, was how tender and light the wonton noodles were. Melt in your mouth!! Then we had the House Special Fried Rice. The chicken and pork in there was so tender!! Could have used some soy sauce, but was excellent! We then had the General Han's Chicken. The chicken was tender. I liked the fact that the dish was pretty full and not loaded with broccoli to "fill the plate", like every other restaurant. We often take Chinese food home from China town to the Bronx, this is much closer, and much better!! This will most definitely our manhattan Chinese food spot!!
Kids loved it, great Chinese restaurant in NY but not in
Kids loved it, great Chinese restaurant in NY but not in too busy area. Been here a couple times and never left hungry!!
If I'm craving Szechuan food this place is my go to rn.
With authentic dishes with bold taste, if you are craving spicy and the signature Szechuan flavors stop here. From their dry pot fish to the scallion pancakes and pork belly, everything comes out piping hot. Tucked away off of Broadway, this gem is perfect for big parties as they have big tables with a lazy susan. Or if you want a more intimate space this place has a lot of space for 2. Hosts are very friendly and the folks that fill your water and change out your plates are friendly too and always on it. But not going to lie my last visit my server was no where to be found I had to hunting for her to even place my order, then she never visited my table to check or follow up. I won't change my rating though because this place is usually very good, just one not so great server.
Over-priced and mediocre (hit and miss).
The "famed" Dan Dan noodles were atrocious (basically cold noodles warmed up with a bit of pork sprinkled on - embarrassing). The braised beef soup and fried rice are fine, but the prices are insane. This place has been over-rated for years (welcome to the UWS).
Food has much more complex tastes than other restaurants in
Food has much more complex tastes than other restaurants in the area. We order sesame noodles, fried veggie dumplings and garlic tofu. They were all amazing. Highly recommend. We went Friday for lunch and the place was very sparsely populated. The service was pretty good as well.
Always can get a table here.
The food is delicious and the waiters are SUPER FRIENDLY and really know the menu. You can make stuff spicier or less spicy too which is fun. We literally take the subway here to get Chinese food so highly recommend. Not always super busy.
We had dinner delivered and it was sorely disappointing.
Paper scallion pancakes with no flavor, bland shrimp lo mein with just onions, soggy fried vegetable dumplings. We won't be back. Best part was delivery was fast.
never disappoints.
Valentina was so helpful with her recommendations and friendly service.
Great dinner, loved it
We really loved this restaurant, it's not touristic, located in the upper west side. It's all on the spicy side and made to share. We had some noodles to start and fried spring rolls. Then it was two types of chicken dishes, one with cumin spice and the other sweet and sour. Both were really good - not too oily or salty. The fried spring rolls were not special but the rest was good. We also enjoyed the cocktails. We would return!
Christmas 2023
First time we ever went out for Christmas dinner and I am so glad we went... The atmosphere was truly festive, the food was to die for, the service was impeccable..we had a 5 month with us to which everyone was accommodating... Can't say enough about what a great day it was!...Thanks for making Christmas 2023 a truly memorable experience...We'll be back!!!
Lovely food, extensive gluten free menu, great experience
Absolutely delicious food, laid back dining and attentive staff. My husband is still dreaming about the cumin fries! Extensive gluten free menu.
Great space, authentic Chinese cuisine
Excellent local Chinese with a great space for comfortable dining. Food is surprisingly authentic and nice. Price a (good) surprise, this is going to be a return place for me. Warmly recommended...

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
