Great food. Service not what it was.
I’ve been here maybe a dozen times and always enjoyed it. I’m happy to report that the food I had last night was as good as ever. Unfortunately, the staff aren’t as attentive as they once were. A couple of were fantastic and a couple seemed like they’d rather be anywhere else. We also ordered Irish coffees to end the night, which were delivered luke warm. Minor complaints, but you can eat in a Michelin star restaurant on a similar budget.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Evening!
This was our first time in London and we were celebrating a big birthday! We had an excellent meal! Service was wonderful and steaks were cooked perfectly! We would recommend!
Be the first to ReplyMaybe we went on a bad night?
We were really looking forward to our visit to Hawksmoor. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. We had the pre-theatre express menu as we were seeing a show and it felt less “express” and more “budget”. The starters (potted beef) were bland, and Yorkshires burnt. The steaks (rump) were an atrociously poor cut. Tough and chewy. Mine was well over cooked medium to well despite asking for medium rare. I sent it back to the kitchen and to my dismay the second one came back the same. My partner also ordered medium rare and it was perfect, so not sure what happened there. I couldn’t be bothered making a fuss, so ate the dry steak. Poor cow. The desserts were nothing special. Something mum would make on a Sunday night. Reading the reviews, maybe we went on a bad night? Perhaps the chef was off sick?
Be the first to ReplyNice to go to a restaurant and get decent food . 👌
Went to this restaurant for wife's birthday Sunday early evening for roast. Excellent restaurant and fab atmosphere . The food was very good and we had a nice couple of hours. The bill was expensive but hay its London once or twice a year for us with threatre ,concerts and hotels so well worth a visit this particular restaurant .
Be the first to ReplyLovely steaks, but awful service and totally incorrect bill
Although the steaks were lovely, the customer service really let them down. We were charged incorrectly, our bill was merged with another table’s. We are still trying to sort it out now, three days later.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Well after the reviews and visiting a Hawksmoor in Edinburgh, expectations were high! However we were let down! We had to wait 15 minutes for our table, the woman on reception was quite rude, the tables are crammed on top of eachother so you can barely hear your own conversation! The service was okay, not great though especially for the amount of money you pay! And the food was warm not hot! 3 of us ordered the macaroni side dish served in a cast iron dish.... We could pick this up and not burn our fingers! Wouldn't return!
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing
I visited the Hawksmoor after seeing the Mama Mia stage production on 6th April. It was the first time that I had visited there and was on the recommendation of a friend whom accompanied me. My fellow diner ordered a 650gm sirloin steak and I the 450gm ribeye. Our anticipation was high based on the reviews we had read. But unfortunately, the reality fell far short of our expectations, particularly in view of the prices charged. Our steaks were hard, dry and with little taste. Mine went down in lumps. On the positive side, the service was friendly. I will not be returning.

Unfriendly , I felt un comfortable we were celebrating my friends birthday I will never ever come again, The people who where serving our meal made us feel we should leave
Be the first to ReplySuperb as always!
If you want to see how good steak and chips can really be, come here. Everything from the starters, the steaks, the sides and the desserts are faultless. Expensive but worth it. We are a foody family and we cook a lot. We tend to dissect everything we are served and discuss what we would change/add to improve it. We dined here on Saturday last and it was a very short conversation!
Be the first to ReplyOverrated and rude server
Most overrated place ever. We went there for our anniversary and it was not good. Service was poor, steaks were both overcooked. We had outstanding service every other place we went in London that week with this exception. Server was terrible and bordered on rude. At the end we ordered some wine for after dinner, he took the order and then never brought it. So he is bad for the business as well.
Be the first to ReplyDecent food with great service
Decent food, good ambience and great service. The Old Spot Pork Belly Ribs were tender with a slight five spice flavouring to them. The steak and grass fed chicken were average/underwhelming. The food was nice, but would say not more than average, and didn’t quite live up to expectations. However the ambience and the service was really great!
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant
Really lovely lunch at Hawksmoor. Excellent service, delicious food, served very quickly. Nice atmosphere. The Yorkshire puddings and gravy were amazing. We really enjoyed desserts as well especially the frozen lemon meringue pie. We agreed best we had ever eaten. The restaurant provided a happy birthday plate with the best chocolates too. Thank you very much, we had a great afternoon and will be back. So nice to have a lovely experience in a London restaurant.

Simply the best steak I’ve ever had. Service is lively with a great atmosphere. Recommend coming for cocktails in the bar too
Be the first to ReplyFantastic
We had a delicious Sunday lunch here. The food, the wine and service was impeccable. We finished off our meal with a scrumptious sticky toffee pudding and Prosecco …. perfect! Great way to start our visit in London.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid if you have children - they don’t like them!
If you have young children give it a miss - they’re not family friendly or welcoming of children here. We’ve been going to hawksmoor for special occasions for years and this has always been our favourite branch. We turned up yesterday and for the first time we took our children (5 years and 3 months old). We couldn’t have felt less wanted! First, on arrival, rather than being warmly welcomed, we were told we’d booked incorrectly because I’d booked a table for 5 seats and left a note saying we also needed space for a pushchair. Apparently I should have booked for 6. I was told this twice. The lady on the reception did not attempt to hide her annoyance at my ‘mistake’ whatsoever, and just huffily said “go and wait at the bar while we try and accommodate you”. So we went downstairs, and lingered by the staircase for 10 mins being ignored. A member of staff came over and asked if we’d like to sit down in the bar, so we went to sit down only to then be told twice by 2 separate staff that the pushchair was in the way and couldn’t be placed anywhere where we were sat (both times it was tucked under the end of the table and in a corner away from the walkway). So I ended up standing by the stairs again for a further 10 mins with the baby so I was out of their way. When we finally got ‘accommodated’ the entire experience had just been totally soured tbh. It was my husbands 40th and we’d gone for a special meal with the in-laws and our children who are really well behaved, but we just felt totally unwanted and like an inconvenience. The roast was lovely, and the server at our table was very friendly. But we definitely won’t be returning to the restaurant again now as there’s so many other lovely (and kind) places we could eat instead!
Be the first to ReplyEverything was so salty
Service was ok, staff friendly enough but service definitely wasn’t worth the 12.5% service charge added to the bill. For starters I had the belly pork which was very salty which ruined it for me. For main we went for Chateaubriand to share which was again sooooo salty I only had a small amount, we were disappointed that for the cost of the meat no sides were included you have to order everything extra. All in all we had a nice evening, the decor was lovely but for me the food was below my expectations.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Visit , but excellent customer service in the end .
We went to celebrate my husbands birthday. The restaurant was very busy and we feel under staffed. Service was slow at the table but attentive ( we ordered 2 round of drinks each time due to this ) . Food was lovely , unfortunately my husbands burger was cooked pink which for a burger he did not feel happy to eat. They took it away and prepared another , by the time it arrived everyone else had finished their meal. The waiter was nothing but apologetic . Another of our party had their side arrive after they had finished their main part of the meal again apologies . The waiter said this was not the service they pride themselves on and removed the cost of these items ( burger and side ) from the bill. He also kindly gave my husband a beer and other party member a wine on the house. As a gesture of good will a bottle of champagne was brought out and my husband given a Brandy both of which were not expected but a nice touch to a disappointing meal . The staff could not have done any more and worked tirelessly. I am not sure if we will visit again if we do maybe we would go mid week and not on a Saturday.
Be the first to ReplyDate night
Food was amazing we love the customer service an warm welcome we got from start to finish the steak was very tender cook to perfection we enjoyed an will be coming back for dates night here
Be the first to ReplyStill very good
The best steak house in London after all these years prices going up but they are everywhere staff not really as friendly as the used to be same everywhere. But the quality of the steak and sides remains Took advantage of there £5 corkage on Mondays to enjoy a really good bottle of wine and had a brilliant green tomato Bloody Mary just hope it keeps it up in what are going to be very testing trading times this winter
Be the first to ReplyExcellent value and service
Visited the restaurant before going to a show so had the express menu, it was excellent value. Service was fantastic and so was the atmosphere. My husband said it was the best rump he’s ever had. We will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Fillet
The restaurant fitted us (family of 4) in at 5.30 after a phone call 5 minutes before. Lovely, courteous and friendly staff. We ordered 3 fillet steaks and a burger. The food is excellent and the fillets were probably the best we have had in the UK both in quality of the meat and the cooking. The beef dripping chips were amazing, the triple cooked ones weren't as good but were okay. My hungry son made the burger disappear in around 2 minutes! It's definitely pricey at £39 for a 300g fillet, but this restaurant delivers and you get what you pay for. We left as happy and satisfied customers and would definitely return. Thanks Hawksmoor!
Be the first to ReplyStill great Food and great service
Have not been here or their Knightsbridge branch since the epidemic and i am pleased to Say that the Food and service remain excellent. I love the beef carpaccio and the beef marrow with onions. Still one of the best desert menus in town.
Be the first to Replypricey but worth it!
chateaubriand was one of the best steaks i have ever had.. waitress was super friendly and catered to all needs. pricey but worth it especially for events like birthdays and anniversarys.
Be the first to ReplyBest Sunday Roast in London
One of the best Sunday Roasts I have ever. Fantastic customer service as well, from reception staff to the lovely gentlemen who served us. Amazing recommendations of wine as well, we went for the South African at the end. Our Roast was simply amazing: juicy tender meat and the best veggies ever. Fantastic location for this restaurant and amazing ambiance as well… definitely definitely will go back!!!
