The worst food poisoning in my life
I cannot stress enough how utterly disgusted I am by the oysters food poisoning incident I experienced at Hide restaurant. The fact that this has been happening for two years is not only shocking but downright unacceptable. It's abundantly clear that Hide has a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of its patrons. It's disgraceful that a restaurant of their supposed caliber would continue to ignore such serious complaints, putting countless individuals at risk of harm. This level of negligence is inexcusable, and I urge anyone considering dining at Hide to think twice about their own health and safety.
Be the first to ReplyToo expensive for such poor and impersonal service
We booked this a month in advance to celebrate a new job and we were really excited. We booked in for 11am on a Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch. When we arrived, it was immediately apparently that they were very short staffed. It took us 5 minutes to be seen and seated. Once we were at our table, we were ignored for another 5 minutes, and I had to flag someone down to ask for menus. We eventually ordered our food and drinks, conscious that breakfast service was ending at 11:30. Our food arrived within 5 minutes (which was great). Our drinks however, (coffee, juices) arrived after we’d totally finished our food. Very little in the way of apology. The food was fine, but the service is really poor and impersonal. Lots of people around us left while we were eating, and none of the tables were cleaned for ages, which we thought was odd. It’s a very very expensive breakfast place, and I honestly think you could get much better service and better food for a quarter of the price elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyFood very good as ever, faceless and overly efficient service
As expected the food was very nice. Croque Madame, French toast and granola bowl all executed to the elevated standard you’d hope for when paying Michelin star prices for a brunch. However the service was abrupt, curt and too efficient, with barely a word spoken and plates cleared the second they were finished with. Some people may appreciate this efficiency, but for me it was too rushed, especially when the restaurant wasn’t even half full. A note to the tableware curator - serving tea in a wide-bottomed glass tea pot, however beautiful, is highly impractical as the tea goes cold very quickly.

Very pleasant hotel near our family. Convenient to London tube. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you, manager and Ilknur
Be the first to ReplyNot what it was!
Very disappointed. I went to this restaurant alot when it started. Its gone downhill. The service was awful, my guests were served drinks and food across me rather than being walked around to - first cardinal sin of service. Not all the waiting staff understand English clearly so we had to continue to repeat instructions. The bread served with our breakfast was so tough we should have been given a steak knife!
Be the first to ReplyA great night out with family
Stunning restaurant, great ambience and magnificent food! The steak is exception and the caviar was delicious. Service was fantastic 👌
Be the first to Replyabsolute culinary masterpiece!
Hide is an absolute culinary masterpiece! From the elegant ambiance to the impeccable service, every aspect of our dining experience was flawless. The menu features innovative dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. A truly unforgettable dining experience in London!
Be the first to ReplyGreat breakfast place
Nice quiet place, lovely food and service. The design and decor was my favorite specially the stairs. I reccome the salmon Benedict , Nd the truffle scrambled eggs .
Be the first to ReplyHIDE - Best you Hide somewhere else :-))
The reason I am giving this pretentious "breakfast" place is for the decoration. Superb decoration and the rest zero starts. Food is well over-priced, taste is terrible and as for freshness of the bread, it's a joke and if you think I am exaggerating, I am not and have no reason to do so. Only went to this place as a result of a friend posting in his Inst account. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment where they don't even know the difference between the types of coffee they have. Having asked whether they make Cortado, ordered one, and received espresso macchiato although taste was good, but was an espresso at the end of the day. The bread couldn't be cut with the knife so makes you wonder whether it was the bread that was left over from the day before or the knife was blunt?! My wife, who loves croque monsieur, didn't even finish half of her food, saying it was tasteless. The total bill for a Caffe Latte, espresso macchiato, crushed avocado (straight from the fridge to the plate!) on toast with herb dressing (some flowers) with two poached eggs came to £68.90.. Total rip-off... Next day, went to Fallow Restaurant on Haymarket, amazing breakfast for two with lots of coffee, paid 2/3rds of Hide... You be the judge..
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced but very nice
For the amount of food they serve it is very overpriced. For starters we ordered Roast scallop with Jerusalem artichoke, rhubarb & rose geranium and Home-cured charcuterie, both very good but be aware that when they say “roast scallop..” they really mean 1 scallop, which makes it overpriced when charging 34 £ !! The charcuterie was excellent at a more normal price of 16 £ and 12 slices were served. As main we ordered Black truffle fazzoletti with artichokes, walnuts & parmesan, which was very good and Roast Huntsham farm suckling pig, mustard fruit puree, crushed turnip & black pudding, both very good and more generous portions. For pudding we ordered Freshly baked Gianduja madeleines; Tahitian vanilla cream and Yorkshire rhubarb & custard, honey & camomile, both very good and reasonably priced. I can’t finish without saying that the bread was delicious ! We will be back but not for everyday dinning but for a special occasion. Loved the ambiance and how they used the wood around. Very nice place !
Be the first to ReplyVery very disappointing
Disappointing experience on all fronts. The service was very slow, the food average and the price way too high. Definitely not a restaurant we would go back to.
Be the first to ReplyGood good but overpriced and small portions
We visited as a couple to Hide (downstairs) on a Friday night. The portions were too small and over-priced. £34 for my scallop starter and only 1 on the plate. I am not kidding. You will need to order sides on top of the c. £40 main course. Note bread is not complimentary, its costs £11. On the positives the food was really good and we enjoyed the wine but be aware you will not get enough to leave satisfied and not ripped off
Be the first to ReplyExpensive but worth it !
Hide (upstairs) really makes you feel special. Yes, it is expensive but the food is really worth it. The wine list is HUGE. They have every kind of wine you would ever want.
Be the first to ReplyNest egg was fantastic
Beautiful venue, the view we had was incredible and the food was great, especially their famous nest egg, which lived up to expectations. They also had an olive oil ice cream…on ice. It was also my first time trying sweetbread..not really a fan of this, but other than that everything was great, especially the service which was superb. I would highly recommend this place & I heard the breakfast at HIDE is also amazing, so can’t wait to try it!
Be the first to ReplyGood food but over priced
The food was good, as were the service and ambience. The problem was price. We have visited two other restaurants in Mayfair during our recent stay in London. We had broadly the same range of food and drink: aperitif, starter, main and two glasses of wine. One has one Michelin star, the other has two. Both were better in terms of quality of food, service and ambience. Both were less expensive. So, in our opinion, this restaurant is over priced.
Be the first to ReplyA nice evening with colleagues
We went to Hide for a management dinner, having a reservation on the ground floor. The reception was not optimal, our jackets were taken away quickly, but we were left standing for a few minutes before getting our table assigned. Service was good for the rest of the evening. Food was overall very good, but for a Michelin place, I had expected more. The wines are excellent and well-priced, and the freshly baked Madelaines for desert were just amazing. Hide is a good and trendy choice, but I had expected more, given the Michelin star.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food, atrocious service
Let's start with the positives. Food: taste, innovation and presentation excellent. Location and décor: light, airy and relaxed atmosphere. Sommelier: professional, knowledgeable and polite. Price: reasonable for London Negatives: the wait staff need training. Rude, unprofessional and lack knowledge and finesse. They literally slam the plates on your table and aggressively mix then proceed to fling the accompanying sauces over said plate whilst still clanging away at the little saucepan. I didn't realise such theatrics were introduced since our last visit here. When explaining the dishes it seems as if they cannot get the words out fast enough so they can walk off. Even if it is busy I still expect a certain level of professionalism and poise. It is nigh impossible to get their attention if you need anything outside of that 10 second window they graced you with their presence. The staff that aren't rude, are disinterested.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Experience
Service was amazing and top. Food was incredible only one thing very small portion. We will back soon. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing
Went for a quick lunch. Have heard mixed review about this restaurant. It has very nice decor with natural daylight. Some creative dishes and quite a good collection of wines. Ordered the set lunch and turned out to be better than I thought, great flavours with fresh ingredients and some twists. I enjoyed them, however the services are subpar. One of the managers was quite rude. She’s not professional and even said to me that, “I am explaining to you, this was…” It definitely didn’t make me feel welcome or worth a second visit.
Be the first to ReplyMichelin have been very generous
Good but far from great, definitely won’t be back. Food was really good but nothing special to warrant the price, very average experience. Could walk into many a good restaurant and be given some nice bread to start and not be charged £9 for the privilege.
Be the first to ReplyA delightful brunch experience!!
Well what an amazing brunch experience. The service was warm and excellent. We ordered the buckwheat chocolate croissant to share... not sure why we shared it was so delicious and just the right amount of chocolate and gooeyness. My friend ordered the avacado on toast with 2 poached eggs and they dish was prettily plated up and my friend enjoyed. I ordered the bowl of fruit with a chilled lemon verbena fusion.... I felt as if I was walking amongst a field of lavender or something similar ....it was refreshing. I then ordered the french toast with blueberry compote and this was yummy ....such a sinful delight. We also ordered the blueberry smoothie with hint of rose petal and this was perfect both in taste and temperature. The total bill was £80.00 which was good for 2 people because the food was very good and the service was on point. Highly recommend this place for brunch.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant lunch
My husband and I had a lovely set menu lunch. The service was excellent and not rushed, a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. Having only eaten once before in a Michelin star restaurant, this one lacked the wow factor of food quality, we’ve previously experienced. It’s good, but not Michelin star good.
Be the first to ReplyImpressed and can’t wait to come back
After trying unsuccessfully for a reservation I gave up and make one for the rooftop of the St James. Unfortunately there was a fire in the building next door and the streets surrounding were closed. I called Hide on a whim- exhausted, frustrated and hungry at 9pm with a party of 7. The hostess was so accommodating and found us a table. Everything was absolutely perfect and our fabulous server, Wilson, only made it that much better. From the in-house made bread to the scallops, octopus, steak and fabulous acorn cake we can certainly understand their Michelin star and can’t wait to return. !
Be the first to ReplyNot overly impressed..
The team at Hide are evidently trained to sell, it’s a bit crass at an establishment like this. The food was nice, but not outstanding. Additional little negatives such as one of our party’s dishes was served on a stained (or worse, unclean plate). The waiter didn’t serve the sauce in correct portions, not quite enough for the third person having the dish. Could do better Hide.
Be the first to ReplyPretty stunning lunch
We went on a Friday for the set 3 course lunch and had the wine pairings. The nibbles were like a meal in themselves, a course of bread, cured pork and goose, gem lettuce with a delicious dipping dressing and a gazpacho. All absolute great. There followed an asparagus custard which was delicate but rich, paired with a Georgian orange wine, which was the first orange wine I have loved. Main was a steamed sole for me and beef for my friend. Both excellently presented and very accomplished dishes that we will think about for a long time. Dessert was a peach tart ice cream and a punch on the side. I think that's probably a bit fruitier than I'd normally order, but it was great and I very much appreciate the work that went into it. From a cost perspective, I had bought this as part of a charity auction, but from my reading of the bill, the comprehensive set lunch with excellent wine pairings would run you about £110 per person including tip, which is cheaper than significantly poorer places in London. This place absolutely deserves its star. Chef great, table staff great, sommelier great. Go here when you get the chance.
