I'd first like to say the food was very good.
Actually it was delicious, especially the desserts. However, the service was extremely slow and what really pissed me off was their inability to seat us another night when it was cold, rainy, and we were getting back late from a day seeing the sights (Harry Potter Studios). As a guest of the hotel I find it excruciating when they cannot accommodate guest. It was not busy in the restaurant, quite the opposite, painfully quiet. "You can order room service," isn't an appropriate response either. As for the food, the strawberry mousse was delightful, the ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor, and the sourdough bread and salted butter was tasty. The chocolate mousse is great for those with dairy-egg-nut allergies, and the rhubarb vanilla tart was a great creation. The Waldorf salad is a centerpiece that every meal should have.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is tucked into the Waldorf Hilton.
After walking through a dimly lit corridor, you enter a very high ceilinged well lit room. It brought about feelings of entering another era. The seating is comfortable, with table primarily set around the outside of the room and a few within the middle. It is clearly a popular restaurant as it was full from start to finish of our meal.Had a lovely meal from the set menu. Started with a curried leek and potato soup, followed by sea bass and finished with an apple strudel. I left fully satisfied and enjoyed every mouthful. The wine list is not huge, but it has plenty of expensive options, including by the glass. The white that I had was lush and worth every penny. While it's not the sort of restaurant I'll come to on a regular basis, I do think it'd be great to experience once in a while. It's worth checking out their specials and I know that they have a cocktail making experience in the nearby bar which comes with the set menu dinner. I'll be back!

So surprised not to see more reviews of this place! We went last Saturday night on an AMAZING bookatable deal (three courses and two glasses of wine for £30 a head).I was looking forward to it as there's a certain sense of grandeur with this place, and wasn't disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful, classic, and just the right side of fancy. Our food was also really delicious. I had smoked duck and mango salad with avocado (WHO knew that combo worked?!), he had smoked salmon. Then I had beautifully baked cod with potato rosti, pesto and beetroot - which was insanely nice and I must cook at home. Similarly, his venison sausage was SO GOOD. Then I had a chocolate torte, and him; a lovely plate of cheese. Really great all round and we left super happy with no hidden costs. I'm knocking a star for being sat by the door (not so great), and them taking a little longer than acceptable to take our order. But hey - that's nitpicking.
Be the first to ReplyI was staying at the Waldorf Hilton in London and they have
I was staying at the Waldorf Hilton in London and they have Homage Grand Salon, a very beautiful restaurant/tearoom that we went to every morning for breakfast. Of course, my first time dining, I took out my phone immediately for my Yelp app to find out what were the Brit's go-tos. Womp Womp. No yelp account created or any reviews to go off so I went with my usual Eggs Florentine one morning and another I chose the Omelette A La Carte. My eggs florentine was like any other eggs florentine and my omelette like any other hotel omelette. The hashbrowns were decent. Service was a bit slow and they wound up messing up my mom's meal as they gave her the wrong ingredients for her omelette. All in all, beautiful restaurant, great ambiance. I have heard great things about their dinner. If you are ever staying here, I'd give it a try or get a nice cocktail next door at Good Godfrey's Bar and Lounge.
Be the first to ReplyWe went to Homage Patisserie at the Waldorf after an awards
We went to Homage Patisserie at the Waldorf after an awards event at the House of Lords, to celebrate. We were somewhat underwhelmed - the Patisserie was very quiet, just two other tables inhabited. The service was attentive, although I was surprised to be given a teapot with a Twinings teabag. I guess that's the reality these days, but I have those at home. The sandwiches were lovely, but when we progressed to the scones we thought the cream looked very odd - so we tasted it. It was so beyond rancid we wondered if it was cream at all! Very bitter and nasty. We called the waiter who immediately removed all four pots. Then a long long wait for fresh cream which came without any apology - just the words "This has a sell-by date of 6 April". Luckily this time it was fresh clotted cream, completely different. The cakes were heavenly. All in all, a real curates egg and overpriced.I was surprised at the crockery - I guess it's vintage but looks like railway station stuff, and I thought tea was always served in bone china. They dimmed the lights at 5.30 to get us to go (our booking was for 4pm). Can't in all honesty recommend this as a great way to celebrate!
Be the first to ReplyI went here for a traditional British High Tea.
They have a set menu where for £22 a person you get a selection of sandwiches and cakes, as well as a pot of tea that is refillable. The atmosphere is really nice, and on Saturday afternoons they have a live piano player as well. The decoration is very traditionally British and Victorian, and the atmosphere very relaxing. The tables are spread quite far apart for privacy, so its an ideal place to go for intimate long chats over tea and nibbles. The quality of the cakes and sandwiches were somewhat lacking, however, and for the price paid I must say that it is rather pricey. But the live piano music is a nice touch.
