Perfect Indian food with a twist! Wish more food and the wine pairing, amazing for my tongue. Will be back soon. Physical structure needs a little change esp. the reception area. Very distracting. Overall impressive!!
Loved this place.
Celebrated my husband's birthday here, and very well worth it. The food was fun and tasty. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night but our corner table was very romantic. I had the pescatarian tasting menu and hubby had the non-vegetarian menu. The sommelier was the best. She was so knowledgeable and turned me on to Croatian wine. Recommend to Indian food lovers and those who seek to taste what Michelin stars are about. Congrats to chef for being a James Beard finalist.
My husband and I went here for our 20th anniversary and we
My husband and I went here for our 20th anniversary and we are glad we settled on this very unique place. We saw that it was recently added to the Michelin list and we love supporting new restaurants that are added to the list each year! We were greeted at the host stand and they congratulated us on our anniversary. I ordered their non vegetarian tasting menu and my husband ordered the vegetarian tastings menu. We decided to pair it with wine which was a good call. Every course was paired beautifully and the food was amazing! I loved the decor and our server was amazing! Super helpful and explained what everything was. We will definitely be back because we loved the experience and the unique food!
First time trying an Indian Michelin restaurant and this
First time trying an Indian Michelin restaurant and this place was really good. We tried both the vegetarian course and meat course and they were both really good. Small portions.. they did a good job curating the dishes and drinks. They have their own sommelier. Parking- street or valet. Great interior decor. Bathroom lotion and wash smelled so good... can't stop thinking about it haha Cons: wait time between food was a bit long but food was overall amazing.
Came here to celebrate my birthday and food, ambiance
Came here to celebrate my birthday and food, ambiance service was all 5/5. This is one of the few tastings I've been to where their original vision was the vegetarian menu. They have pescatarian and meat menu's too. We stuck with the vegetarian. We ordered their Kolkata cocktail and New York. Their Kolkata was recommended; however, I didn't find it to be anything special. The New York on the other hand was MIND BLOWING. It's made with four roses bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and cherry. Not only is the flavor delicious the drink comes out clear as water. I was confused to why it was clear as I'm familiar with four roses bourbon, but our server Alex explained that they use a rotary evaporator (in house) that lifts the color of the whiskey. Therefore, leading to this clear whiskey cocktail. We also did the Gin & Tonic Trolley (inspired from the Gin culture in London) and I have to say I have never had a better Gin cocktail before. He made us a coffee cocktail with the dark gin and a rose cocktail with the pink gin. Both delicious you can taste the freshness. The tasting menu also exceeded expectations. Although you still taste the traditional Indian flavors, you taste them on a more delicate level. Indian food can be intense in flavors sometimes but each dish had a beautiful balance to the palate. We had the dahi (bhalla), avocado kebab (with bread), jackfruit (haleem), butternut (manti), paneer (roulade), carrot (halwa) & chocolate (phirni). Out of all the above the jackfruit haleem and paneer roulade were my favorite. The carrot halwa is served with gold shavings however I'm a chocolate girl and always opt for the chocolate dessert. They also gave us complimentary tastings for my birthday. This was not on the menu but the sweet, savory, umami flavors of these complimentary treats still has me wishing I could savor these flavors again. They truly deserve their Michelin star. Ambiance 5/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5
Indienne is a culinary experience with spectacular service
Indienne is a culinary experience with spectacular service and food. Truly one of the best meals I've had and well deserving of their Michelin star. We opted for the vegetarian tasting menu that took us on a tour throughout India. Each course was thoughtful and had a different flavor profile, opting for a great experience overall. Notable favorites: -Black Berry Pani Puri - A fruity burst that quickly transitions into the taste of a traditional, tamarind-flavored pani puri. -Mushroom Galoutti - The goat cheese in this eclair added a nice creaminess to the mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms but enjoyed this and wanted more! -Dal Makhani - Creamy and rich, amazing with the garlic naan! The ambiance is upscale yet calming. I highly recommend the gin trolley as they will customize a drink table-side according to your taste and preferences. My husband and I loved our cocktails!
My new favorite restaurant in Chicago.
We came in with high standards due to the Michelin status, but were still truly impressed by the food, the service, and the beautifully chic vibe of the interior decorating. The food was incredible. The chef did not shy away from traditional Indian flavors, and the twist on each course was so original. I hope they are awarded two stars in the future, I truly believe they deserve it! A huge thank you to the attentive, kind staff! Will definitely be back!
Overall the atmosphere is great and the service was good.
However, I think this meal started off on a very high note but didn't maintain it throughout the meal. All of the food was good and it was definitely date night worthy, but I kept wanting to be amazed and after the second course I felt like the meal trended towards a traditional Indian restaurant experience.
Indienne is now synonymous with 'culinary orgasm' or
Indienne is now synonymous with 'culinary orgasm' or 'foodgasm'!! Wow! What a place to enjoy some authentic tasting Indian delicacies served with style and oomph!! Loved the experience. The ambiance as we stepped in was awesome, a combination of festive, delightful to your nostrils and more importantly very inviting. We were shown to our table which was well put together, covered with a white tablecloth and a beautiful teal colored vase with a solitary yellow flower! Next to it was a lavender colored glass full of water!!! Man' lavender colored water!! F'ing awesome. They have two menus ... one veg and the other for carnivores. Both read like 'taste the best ever'. Given I am allergic to crustaceans, I opted for veg menu but with a twist. The twist being I replaced one veg dish with a chicken dish! And I loooovedddd it!! Starters were blackberry pani puri and mushroom galauti!! Yeah you read it right... blackberry pani puri. And as exotic as it sounds, the taste was out of this world. As soon as you put it in your mouth ( instructions were to eat at one go), the taste buds in your tongue are like they are on steroids thereafter!! The galauti, lived up to its name.... It melted as soon as I placed it in my mouth! Yummy!!!! The second course was dahi bhalla. Now for folks who have not tasted this dish, you are missing out on one of the best savories from north India.... And boy this one was divine. Taste - authentic; presentation- inviting. The third course was an Avocado kebab. I was not a big fan of this dish, HOWEVER, my comment here is relative. The first and second course were so good that it left behind the third course to gather dust. The next three courses consisted of jackfruit haleem, butternut manti and butter chicken. Let me describe the butter chicken. I have never been presented a chicken breast so eloquently before. As you can see from the pic. The taste of course was out of this world. Soft, succulent and multilayered taste. Absolutely orgasmic this one!! Ended the meal with desert a twist on carrot halwa and chum chum. While the first 6 courses were foodgasmic, the dessert took me to sub-space!!!! And for those who don't understand sub-space, look it up OR better still go to Indienne!!!!
Good food experience. A must try
Service was nice Food was surprising for the most part , with the possibility to achieve a smooth balance with spices I was not fond of the desert which was not up to my taste The music was very loud. It was the aspect that downgraded my experience overall. Hard to hear the service explanations for food and to understand it as a consequence. Moreover musique did not serve the overall ambiance of the restaurant (Hispanic music for indienne is out of touch in my opinion) Thank you for the amazing experience !
An Upscale Indian Restaurant.
Indienne is housed in a 19th century printing warehouse in a converted timber-loft. The design of the restaurant embraces smooth warehouse floors, exposed ceilings, thick wooden beams, rose colored booths, a dramatic bar and a sign of fine dining.....tablecloths. This is a handsome facility. The Indienne serves up tasting menus for veggies, non-veggies, vegans as well as a la carte dining (all in a melange of French & Indian fare), a worldly wine inventory and an impressive cocktail program.......and the proud owner of a Michelin star. As a 1st timer to Indian food I selected a tasting menu which featured creative dishes such as Egg (Curry), Yogurt (Chat), Lamb (Burrah) and more. The food was exceptional, and so involving...and so artistically presented that I didn't know whether to just stare at it or eat it.......I ate it. This is an upscale Indian restaurant.
Appetizing throughout
We enjoyed the most exquisite meal at Indienne. Every item presented to us was luscious. Service was impeccable from start to finish. The presentation of each item was so beautiful they were like works of art. We ordered the non-vegetarian tasting menu. The price was reasonable considering how much this included - six courses on top of which we added a special bread and the additional scallop course. The spicing was so tasty. We cook Indian food ourselves. This was non traditional and truly creative.
Extraordinary Indian Cuisine
Extraordinary food and dining experience. Best Indian meal I have ever had . . . completely different than the typical curry or Indian place. This is fine dining at its best. Two tasting menus (one vegetarian and the other with meat / seafood). Service was graceful and impeccable. Presentation of each course was a work of art, but more importantly it tasted great. Be aware of the surcharges that will be added to your bill though. A number of extra fees and percentages are part of the total, so what was $240 for the two tasting menus turned into over $400 with tips and extras.
Massive disappointment
I cannot tell you how disappointed I am still the day after we ate here for dinner. For three people ordering the vegetarian tasting menu and one alcoholic drink, the bill was over $500. I was expecting perfection for a restaurant of this caliber but I was angry from the moment we walked in. The hostess wouldn't seat us at our empty table until our friend arrived (he was 10 minutes late because of a work call). She told us to wait at the bar. We tried to order a Diet Coke but the bartender rudely told us that he had 14 drinks ahead of ours. Apparently it would have been time consuming for him to put soda in a glass. After we were seated we noticed something sticky on the tablecloth. The waiter said that they have been having issues with the linen service. After my husband insisted that we wanted a clean tablecloth, the waiter proclaimed that it would have to be ironed at the table. This was weird. He literally ironed on the table. I ordered a non-alcoholic drink and it was mostly ice with very little juice. We couldn't hear the explanation of each course. Though the dishes were visually pleasing, the flavors of each dish tasted like the one before. There was very little variation between courses. Since this is an Indian restaurant and we eat Indian food very often, we expected different spices, textures, etc. We were sorely disappointed. The portions were tiny and I went home hungry. After we paid our check we realized they never asked if we wanted coffee or tea. We ordered one tea which the manager gave us free. I was really looking forward to this dinner because we were entertaining a guest from out of town and we love Indian food. I would never recommend this place.
Great fine Indian dining. Bread/naan are awesome
Finally we have a decent Indian fine dining in town!! We all had 5-course meat tasting menu. Every dish was well presented and most of them tasted good. The butter chicken sauce was salty for all of us. The naan and bread were the highlight. We enjoyed the fresh bake and felt like we could find any better starch than theirs in town . The coconut dessert 🍨 was to die for.. The reason I didn’t give a full score because of the service and cocktails. Our waitress was very friendly but not everybody else. Most of them looked very serious without smiles. As for cocktail, I had Mumbai which tasted so light that I thought it was a virgin version. I don’t drink much and usually a half glass could get me dizzy already so if I feel the drink is light, it would be much lighter for most people. They allowed me to swap the drink and I got Delhi. Not sure if it’s because of my comment earlier or it’s their original recipe, this drink this time was extremely strong that I waited long time for the ice to melt and only could take a few sips at the end. If the drinks were more balanced, it would totally boost the dining experience.
Silly and Pretentious: The Food doesn't shine.
Everyone was raving about Indienne so my husband and I booked a reservation on our recent trip to Chicago. The hostess greeted us warmly. The space is cool and industrial the crowd was very attractive and initially it appeared to be a fun spot. The warmth ended here: We ordered the vegetarian tasting menu with the wine pairing. The staff is stiff and affected so formally trained that they present as low-talking, robotic-Stepford-Wife like. The have stiff smiles, and have memorized an extensive, detailed description of the beautiful artistically presented courses. If you interrupt or ask any questions including "could you please speak up a bit: I can't hear you" it derails their monologue. Ok: the most important aspect: the food. It was beautiful, picture perfect, works of art. Small bites delivered so quickly and efficiently with the long introduction that its military -like and overwhelming., Not gracious nor inviting. Every dish, except the soup, tasted the same. The bites were small, the bill wasn't. We were embarrassed to have spent so much on dinner. Thats not how you want to feel- it doesn't make you cool or in-the-know.. it makes you a sucker. Advice: Give Indienne a try as it's hot now. If you order wine pairing: split it . Its a lot, of wine and money. It's served very quick, assembly like, with long pretentious intro to each Again don't ask any interesting questions or ask for any repetition as the staff does not deviate from script. Also, you do not want to order 2 tasting menus. Order off the menu. The tastings were all too similar, more suited for photographing than eating. Maybe sit at the bar and have a drink and some sides. Once they train or have better-trained confident staff it might help create a more enjoyable dining experience.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
