Very good Korean
Last minute yen for Korean close to home. Very nice restaurant is the Gowanus canal area. Sat on the patio and had an excellent squid salad, dumplings, fried mushrooms and drinks. Not really classic Korean but very enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect place to feel bad for drinking with friends
If you're looking for a place to feel bad for drinking with friends this is your spot. I love being shamed for drinking while doing karaoke, it makes me feel like money well spent. Thank you Insa for always providing that reality check.

I donโt recommend this place at all. We arrived, they seat us at a table and never appeared again. Zero service oriented, expensive and not that cool

While visiting family in Brooklyn, we decided to try something new when choosing a restaurant for dinner. We at that INSA Korean BBQ and enjoyed a dinner bursting with flavor. Having never tried Korean BBQ, we trusted our table attendant who offered an excellent choice of pork & beef dumplings, marinated beef short rib BBQ, and stir-fried sweet potato noodles with vegetables. The meal was bursting with flavor and we were entertained by the interactive grill station in the center of our table for 4. I recommend thinking outside of the box and making a reservation at INSA for an enjoyable evening.

We went there tonight for a birthday dinner. We tried to make reservation. However, we were told that they donโt take reservation for any party less than 6 people . It was a rainy evening. We got there early. We were seated immediately. By the time we left, there was a line. We chose the bbq, as well as fried chicken, Korean dumplings and seafood pancake. The food was pretty good. The fried chicken was moist. The seafood pancake was cooked perfectly. The dumplings were just okay (I couldnโt tell the difference between theirs from the frozen ones I got from Hmart). In terms of BBQ, the waiter/cook was grilling everything for us. We just sat back and enjoyed our food. He was doing an excellent job. The vegetables, especially the variety of mushroom were so good, juicy, slightly crunchy. The Kalbi was tender. The bbq shrimp was a bit salty to my taste. Next time, I would probably skip the bbq shrimp. The pork belly tasted a bit dry. We got two glasses of soju and a glass of Yuzu Lemonade. The check came out to be $300 (for 4 people). Hope this helps! ๐
Be the first to ReplyYummy local place for great Korean BBQ
Loved the Bibimbap with Bulgogi (be sure to spring for the Hot Stone Bowl for an extra $2) and the Japchae! If you are in Gowanus or close to the Barclayโs Center, it is worth a few blocks of walking to get to this fantastic place!!
Be the first to ReplyVery noisy, not good acoustics
I was here last year and this year took my wife for a very fun interesting place. It is very loud inside. When you order, it is designed for two people to share. We got plenty of starter items and tried them all. Some we liked, some not so much. We had to ask for a fork as we would have starved if we had to use chop sticks. It may be hard to ding this place, as it is off the main street in an industrial area. But worth looking for.
Be the first to ReplyINSAnely good Korean pancake
After a long day of seeing tourist attractions and walking through Manhattan, we need to eat and heard great things about Insa through the locals. Atmosphere was buzzing yet chilled. The decor matched the vibe and style of Brooklyn. Staff were very welcoming and quick to assist and respond to questions. I ordered the Korean pancake which I had at a wonderful restaurant in Holborn, London (so wanted to try again) and though it didnโt taste as good, I loved the chillis and spicy spring onions. My friends had the pork belly, fried rice and kimchi mix and LOVED that it was cooked (this could be done individually or by the waiting staff) on the table in front of you. A lovely evening of dining before a night out.
Be the first to ReplyGood Food, Questionable Service
I am not sure what happened with our waiter but he was off his game Tues. 6/25. First the good, love the concept, the layout and the bar. The food was good, but not price-worthy. The fried chicken was delicious but I don't even remember what else we had. The bad; slow seating on a night when there were not many people in there at all. The ugly, our waiter was super inattentive. My daughter and I are pretty easy going but this was ridiculous. Other staff took better care of us than he did and that's the only reason I left a tip; I wasn't sure if they divvy tips up at the end of the night. We asked if we could have dark meat only chicken; he said cheerily, let me check. He never came back, we had to flag him down. I ordered rice, it never came, another staff member ordered it and I ended up taking it to go because we had already finished eating. I am a big eater when I go somewhere new because I want to try everything so I could have spent over 150 dollars for just the two of us, but I got turned off. I can tell that if you got better service, you would love this place. Right around the corner from Fairfield Inn, where I spent the week. Worst 70 bucks spent my whole vacation.
