Absolutely delicious
We have had a few disappointing meals here over the last few years, but it redeemed itself absolutely tonight! All 4 of us had delicious starters (octopus, scallops, soufflΓ©) and all 4 mains were also delicious (slip soles, curry, skate wings, sea b
Meh
We shared a massively overpriced platter, which managed to be both luke warm and over cooked. The bread was nice enough. The fish was chewy. Save your money. Eat elsewhere.
Wonderful Seafood restaurant!!
If you want delicious seafood then this is the restaurant for you. The seafood is fresh and delicious. There seafood towers are great for trying something new (welks, etc). If someone in your party does not like seafood, there is a vegetarian menu.
Microwave fish curry doesnβt cut it
We have eaten here before and generally happy with it. We went with friends (8 of us) on a Monday evening. Service was disappointing but worse was the prawn and monkfish curry which clearly had been microwaved - the prawns and monkfish were dry and β
Quiet patio with attentive service
After a hectic week sightseeing in London, we celebrated our last night at this lovely white tablecloth restaurant on a quiet side street. Our server was a charming young woman from Ireland, who was very helpful in making our selections. The chef off
Perfect stay.
Fantastic food and wine, very lovely stuff and a place where you immediately feel welcomed. Though you should be definately into fish there are also a few meaty dishes on the menu!
Perfect....
Food was excellent, as was the service. Would highly recommend the oysters. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. Wine list is very expensive. Beautiful old restaurant with heaps of history.
Great service and food
Been here a few times over the decades and I know people complain it might not be the most innovative but whether itβs been a business lunch, a birthday celebration or like today a solo lunch as a walk in what stands out is the way you are made to

One of the best London restaurants
Good food and wines and first class service from Chima ( very professional and with a sense of humour ) and the rest of the staff. Well done.
Hidden gem in the heart of London
Dining at J Sheekey was a truly memorable experience, elegant, cosy & full of character. From the moment I walked in, the warm, attentive service set the tone for a special evening. I had the octopus for starter, the cod for mains & the tripl
Everything.
Cold and dismissive service complete with heavy sighs and eye rolling. There were many other choices in the area that had welcoming staff and had better food.

Always a solid place for top notch seafood and a warm atmosphere. Classics like the Dover Sole shine but I also like some of the newer menu items, such as the shrimp and soft-shell crab burger. The service is good and the wine list well conceived. I
We ate at J.
Sheekey 7 years ago while in London and it became our favorite restaurant then. We were so excited when we were referred to eating there again. The food, the service, the ambience is exceptional. The Dover sole is the best. Can't wait to go agai

Lies they tell! Last night, my family and I were given a recommendation to attend this restaurant. What a dissapointment! The staff was rude and quite aggressive. As a first time visitor to London, J Sheekey was highly recommend but what a let down

We had a 5 pm reservation and when we walked into the restaurant we were the first patrons there. Despite the restaurant being empty we were seated next to the kitchen. Being that they were just opening there was constant movement as well as conversa
Not ageing well
Have been going to Sheekys for years but it has been there a very long time and unfortunately it is showing. Menu quite uninspiring and certainly not worth the prices they are charging. Service pleasant but no warmth or friendliness. Think it will be
Underwhelming and expensive
We made a reservation expecting a fabulous dinner. The appetizers were very good , had the salmon tartare and beet salad and they were both delicious. My husband had the Sea Bass and it was good. My friend and I shared the Dover Sole and it was no
Very good lunch
I had heard great things about this restaurant but was put off somewhat by the April 2024 Food Hygiene Rating of 2 out of 5 "Needs Improvement". But, when we arrived the staff were really friendly and attentive, the ambience was excellent
Delicious Food, Great Service
Had dinner after a matinee theatre show with my friend to celebrate her 60th birthday. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious (I can recommend the fish stew) and they gave my friend a lovely birthday dessert, which w
A delicious class act.
Absolutely loved coming here. Had an impromptu Monday lunch, we were welcomed without hesitation. Itβs old school and a class act. The service was spot on, and we loved the food very much. We enjoyed cod with girolles, broad beans and a chicken bu
Poor food, mediocre service and overpriced
What a disappointment as the menu looked so enticing, however the food we had was poor, the service mediocre and overall overpriced. We ordered the sticky tiger prawns as a starter. We asked the waiter how many pieces we would get. He answered 6 but
Uncomfortable experience.
It is my last of 10 days of my vacation. Im exhausted & sore after walking around every day but I don't want to leave London without trying the Fish 'n Chips. I searched for places near our hotel as we walked back. The first places we walked to
Sadly, not the best experience.
We've been going to J Sheekey for the past 6 years, usually about twice a year, but our last visit was a disappointment (as was the time before). Yet again we were seated at the table nearest to the working kitchen although there were seats available
Seafood sensation
Outstanding restaurant: an absolute gem. There are so many smart, attentive staff who make you feel very welcome. The menu is very detailed and so much choice from oysters, fresh crab, shellfish bisque and caviar. All served in a wonderful opulent a
Delight
As always, an exceptional meal with impeccable service. It has been a long time since I last went to Sheekeyβs , and I am delighted to say it hasnβt changed at all. It is an old school dining experience with the good and service one expects from
Insanely good food and service
Treated myself to a solo birthday dinner and what a fantastic choice. They were happy to make an off-menu cocktail, and I ate the bisque (the best I've ever had anywhere in the world) and the monkfish and king prawn tikka massala (ditto!). Tempted to
Fish pie deliciousness
A staple! 100+ year old British institution in the middle of history. This place is so historic and so relevant that when I was queuing to enter, dame Judi dench walked in. What else do you need to know? I had the fish pie and the cheese suffle, bot
overpriced tourist trap, avoid
I'm afraid I was deeply unimpressed by this place. The fish was not fresh and not well cooked or presented. There was a staggering Β£100 mark up on the wine and a compulsory 13.5% service charge. So all in all I have never spent so much on a meal I d
Something is very wrong with the service.
I have used this restaurant for decades and the food is still good. Something strange has developed among the serving staff over the last couple of years. The service here used to be excellent, unobtrusive, and efficient, the place ran like a machine
Good food
Food was really good. More than once though someone elseβs order was put on our table. When our main course was bought over the young woman practically ran over and threw it down and then ran off. We said we were made to feel more fast food establi
Goodbye Dave - and thanks.
Ten of us celebrated the life of a friend who passed last year and left us enough money to pay the bill. We had excellent food and were looked after by a group of friendly staff. What more could you want?β·
Nostalgic magic
My first time to visit since the pandemic. I had the set lunch as I was intrigued by one of the starters, the buttermilk monkfish & prawn. It was a fine fusion of Asian and Southern Californian taste, the monkfish and prawn were both meaty and

I've been going to J Sheekey for more than 40 years.
I'm usually passing through London on business and eat at the bar. The food is always great but the bar service is hit or miss. My recent visit was a miss. One bartender was nice but did t know the menu, messed up my order. The other bartender was
Great pre-theatre eatery for shows near Leicester Square
Excellent pre-show restaurant for theatre near Leicester Square. We had the Dover Sole and Sea Bass with carrots and spinach. Everything was outstanding. Ended with ice cream and some sort of "crunchy chocolate bar" for dessert. Cost tw

Not worth the money or effort. Food was okay. Jazz lunch a joke.
Advertised jazz lunch starting at noon. Music started at 1:00, guitars and vocalist who did three songs and then took a 45 minute break!! Please. Donβt waste your money.
1896, that is the year this marvelous restaurant opened.
We had theater tickets for a play at 7, and the theater was basically next door. Greeted as we walked in I handed over my jacket and we were sat at a Duce in the back corner, perfect. Handed our menu and drinks ordered...my first impression was how o
Can be loud and the food is just OK
Food was OK. We were in a nice corner booth, but for some reason, the noise level was very loud . It was a combination of the hard surfaces and the people in the room who were all trying to talk loudly to be heard so the noise level became unpleasant
Fantastic experience!
We visited J Sheeky for the first time last night for my Birthday. I did have high expectations but have to say they were exceeded! Straight away the service and attitude of the staff was so friendly and welcoming, they made us feel so comfortable. W
We Wonβt Bother Ever Again
Unbelievably cr*p service - One canβt arrive half an hour early - There is no bar, and a lone female told to βLeaveβ = Had to stand outside in the rain!
My favourite London restaurant. Definitely worth it.
Introduced to this restaurant a few years back and have been coming here every time I stay in London. Food is delicious, service impeccable and a lovely ambience. My partner and I began with the bisque and scallops, then the fish of the day (superb)
Outstanding - best seafood in London, bar none.
Old school London charm, coupled with simply the best food and service it is possible to get. The staff are excellently trained and efficient, whilst being genuinely warm, welcoming and relaxed. The food is second to none. The only thing to consider
One of the best, if not THE best Fish restaurant in London - simply magnificent
I know it's a staple but I don't care, it's awesome. My first time and I enjoyed every minute. The ambience is wonderful, the food superb and the service is excellent (from Hostess, to Waiter, to Sommelier to Manager - all perfect). My wife does not
