Food was amazing from the bluff oysters to the lamb and steak and ending with the chocolate ganache dessert. No rush, allowed you to enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace. Tony our server was amazing, welcoming and knowledgeable.

Who ever is managing the restaurant needs to learn how to manage a steak house restaurant. The table next to us was never cleaned. For a self respecting steak house this is just unacceptable! The good news is our water was very knowledgeable and the food was decent. However the dirty table ruined the experience.

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves on our last night in New Zealand (insert meltdown here). Jervois was recommended by a local for awesome meat and seafood selections. He said any restaurant you go to in New Zealand, no matter how fancy, you can show up in jeans and a nice shirt. We took his word for it and he was right all around. Casual was accepted here and the food was fantastic! I had fish, my husband had a type of lamb (according to our waiter only in New Zealand, or only raise there) and it marbles. Ugh! So good! We shared sides, had wine and cocktails and treated ourselves to dessert. It was very nice and romantic and our server was just incredible and attentive- can't say I have ever, in my life, had a better server.Best part? Don't be scared of the price. After everything we had, plus 20% tip (they encourage tip here, unlike the rest of the country), it was still under $100 US. We thought that was quite cheap, considering the dollar signs and "Steak House". You won't be disappointed whether it's with a group of friends or a romantic night out. They even have intimate balcony seating if the weather's just right.

They presented the steaks on a board so you could see what they were going to cook. We had 4 different cuts of meat. All of them cooked to perfection. Each dish was served with a choice ofsauces, from horseradish, mushrooms, butter and a few more. Sides included a pea, onion, and bacon mix, Whipped potatoes, string fries, fried onion rings. and a few more. Service was friendly, andon the spot whenever we requested anything. Nice desert menu, to top the evening off. I would go back there again if we ever traveled this way again.

My husband and I went there for Valentine's Day, and we were about an hour early for our reservation, but they were able to seat us. Our waitress was very prompt and friendly. The steak quality and red wine jus was delicious!! I had never been to New Zealand, and wasn't sure what an eye fillet was, but it looked and tasted just like filet mignon that I'd order in the states. We would definitely go back!

We came to this restuarant at the recommendation of our hotel, and it was fantastic. There are 3 types of cows they raise for the steaks. We elected the bone-in rib eye for two at 1.2kg. We're able to eat a lot of steak, so the steak, a caesar salad, side of broccolini, side of mushroom was a good amount of food. We added the peanut/banana molton lava cake for dessert which wasn't necessary but glad we did as that was yummy as well. Everything was well cooked. The mushrooms were a tad oily but manageable. Our server was super helpful with the menu and questions on the cuts. The whisky and fig drink was delicious. Even gave us honeymoon wishes, how thoughtful!
Be the first to ReplyArguably Queenstown's best steakhouse.
4+ stars- Excellent steak. We had the rib eye and filet as well as the duck. - Quality of ingredient was terrific / meat was perfectly seared to medium rare. - The duck was also very well-cooked and the pumpkin accompaniment provides a nice interesting contrast- For starters, we had the whitebait which was served Mediterranean style with olive oil and pita bread. An interesting dish though a hit and miss for our table. Slightly too salty. - Steak sauces were a bit underwhelming / standard- Side dishes of creamed spinach and mushroom were both great. - Extensive wine selection and knowledgeable server.

Excellent meal in queenstown! Beautiful steak house decor, i was able to make a reservation easily over the phone. Upon our arrival we were promptly seated. The weather was lovely so the patio doors were open on the second floor so it was nice and breezy. Cocktails were strong and delicious, I had a dirty martini and the hubby had a whiskey. Appetizers were great, the beef tar tar and Cesar salad, Entrees were good - the crispy duck was delicious and husband thought the steak was okay. We had sides of creamed spinach and mushrooms which were also really good. We wanted to order desert but the service was SO slow, we decided against it, as our server seemed to lose interest in serving us when the large Chinese party of like 20 men came in. We decided to get some ice cream from the street below afterwards which was probably faster as we had to catch a shuttle bus back to our hotel. I would have given them a better score but the service was just so unbelievably slow it sort of put a damper on the whole meal as we felt some what neglected, you would really expect better service when you are paying so much for your meal.

The waiter was VERY knowledgeable of the menu, the various cuts of beef and especially the wines to drink with. Everything was delicious and served with wonderful timing.

You are paying top dollar so would expect to receive great service also, but our service was nothing short of outstanding. Enrique was friendly, professional, knowledgable and passionate about his recommendations. His service took this from an all round excellent $$$$ restaurant to outstanding.

We came here to celebrate our first night in Queenstown New Zealand. We chose this place based on TripAdvisor reviews and the Fodors guide. We booked a reservation in advance while still in Atlanta. Upon checking in we were seated promptly. They put us at a table next to the French doors with views of the mountains and street life. A really nice table. The restaurant and decor are elegant. Its location is on the upper floor of an upscale building.Enrique was our waiter and he was excellent. Total attention to detail and our experience. We ordered the fresh baked bread with herbed butter and olive oil with balsamic. We also ordered the calamari. My main dish was the Caesar salad with anchovies, the half order. Still enough to share for Mark and I. My other main was the crab legs with three different types of clarified butter. Mark ordered a New Zealand grass fed wagyeu filet. He also ordered the onion rings. Everything was top quality. For dessert we split the rhubarb creme brûlée. It was incredible!Food and service were absolutely top notch! We already decided to com back on a future visit!

Meal and service. Ordered the bone-in dry aged rib eye to share in addition to some appetizers and it was a glorious experience. I think may have been best steak ever (but I also had quite a few glasses of wine and cocktails - which are also delicious by the way).If you're an out-of-towner visiting Queenstown, like I was, I highly recommend a meal at Jervois Steak House on one of your nights. I made my reservation days in advance but apparently they didn't have me in the books...but thankfully, there was a table open when I got there at 8:30PM on a Saturday evening. It was packed, so good atmosphere.
