FABULOUS!
Anyone that gives this less than 5 stars is not a foodie! Every dish I have ever had here has been amazing and the service is attentive but not pretentious. If I could afford to eat here more often I would be thrilled! It is fabulous and you should give it a try!
Be the first to ReplyDelightful and delicious
We celebrated New Years at Jeune et Jolie in Carlsbad, California. What a delightful experience from the moment we were greeted and throughout the entire meal. Everyone made us feel special, and we felt like they were genuinely pleased we were there. Our primary server Kyle was engaging and helpful. All supporting staff were cheerful, upbeat and attentive. The special five course meal was exceptional. It began with an amuse-bouche that was a tantalizing treat. We started the celebration with their Plateau de Fruits de Mer- oyster, prawn, bay scallop and mussel. Each with their own delicate taste. The second course was either a Croque Madame or Croque Monsieur- the Madame was made with caviar and Monsieur with black truffle. Both had Iberico ham on brioche with bechamel. We enjoyed each. For the third course we chose the lobster on a harissa sauce with basil and tarragon. Though the serving size was appropriately small, the lobster was sweet and perfectly cooked. For the fourth course I had the sea bass served on spinach with saffron, vanilla and warm spices and my wife had the liberty farms duck with preserved plum, anise and black pepper. The bass was cooked to perfection and delicious. The duck was one of the best prepared we have had- tender, rare and scrumptious. For our fifth and final course we chose the ‘Automne’- hard to describe 😊 Had a coffee crème with parsnip, pumpkin, and grape. Basically, tasted like a very delicate coffee mousse. It was accompanied by an apple tart- fresh and delicate. All was enjoyed with a bottle of brut champagne. The ambiance is certainly part of the enjoyment. As every order came in the details would be called out to the crew who would in unison acknowledge it with a loud “oui.” Michelin star winning Chef Eric Bost oversaw the well choreographed sourcing and cooking while ensuring each plating was meticulously prepared before being whisked to the respective table.

Got lucky to get a dinner table with girlfriends and we had a blast! We were all so excited to try this Michelin star restaurant and we were not disappointed. They wagyu beef is definitely worth a try (it's an option for your main entree).

One of the best meals ever. Superb food, unpretentious atmosphere , great service Two weeks before, we were at a Michelin rated restaurant in Portugal The food here was better A truly memorable experience A winner
Be the first to ReplyFabulous but expensive food deserving a better atmosphere to make it a fabulous night to remember.
The food is fabulous but we expected the atmosphere to be as unique. It was not. We made reservations 3 weeks ago. We expected to sit inside. The hostess dressed run-of-the mill stationed outside at an uninviting desk was quick to tell us they were full inside. We insisted gently that we made reservations inside, she brushed it off and said : sorry it’s full. All right. Should we stay or should we leave. California after 7pm is cold. Believe it or not with the dew falling, it’s not pleasant to be out at night unless you are dressed for it. We were then directed outside to a small bistro table without a tablecloth ( the patio is next to a parking lot). We spent $300. for a 4 course dinner @ $105 per person including a 4% surcharge per guest( really ! ) and tips. That’s a lot. We expected a lot. The service was great but the serving staff’s dress code leaves much to be desired. Casual at a French restaurant. It was more befitting a regular hamburger joint. Sorry for saying that but that is what it is. For a French restaurant with such great food and a phenomenal wine list, it was disappointing to be in such ordinary surrounding. The presentation of the food stimulates the senses so why not go all the way and deliver such magnificent food in the best atmosphere possible to make it an absolute fantastic night to remember. I suggest to the owners to visit Valle restaurant in Oceanside, another Michelin restaurant. Talking about the all around perfect experience, where the food and the food presentation is not only great, but so is the serving staff who by their impeccable look, manners and service transport you for a few hours into another world.
Be the first to ReplySimply Outstanding!
All I can say is wow! Jeune et Jolie never disappoints. We have been there four times now. They are so deserving of their Michelin Star. Service is outstanding, food and drinks are on point and simply the finest! The food is artwork at it's best. We thoroughly love dining at Jeune et Jolie. It's small and quaint! The pictures I am going to post speak for themselves. Jeune et Jolie is fit for us foodies and our foodie friends. We will be back!

This was our 4th trip to the restaurant. Exceptional service, paired wines were excellent, food a bit off, a lot of citrus on many dishes. My wife ordered different things and felt the same. Too much citrus. Still an solid experience and we will continue to visit the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyFancy Food with a Casual Vibe
Excellent evening. Price fix menu and wine pairing without being pretentious. Deliciously prepared dishes. Attentive staff. Casual environment. Calm heated patio seating. Busy bar scene. Accommodated a few ingredient intolerances with ease.
Be the first to ReplyCreative fixed price menu; poor service; a la carte bar menu worth trying
Four-course, fixed price dinner is $105. À la carte menu is available at the bar. We enjoyed the crab and veal tartare appetizers. Creative mix of contrasting flavors, textures, for both. Tasty use of crisp, apples, to contrast with the veal and dash of wasabi on the tartare ($21 at the bar). Had the salmon ($24 at the bar) and rabbit ($24) for the second course. Again, creative presentations, use of ingredients. Third course, the entrées, we had seabass ($36 at the bar) and duck ($36). For a big addition, go for the Wagyu, a $55 extra charge for a ribeye, with sweetbreads, and mushrooms in a bordelaise sauce. Fourth course is dessert. The chocolate with beets and raspberry looked like a rose out of the garden. Short but well conceived wine list. Corkage $30. Very slow service. Big delays between the appetizer and the second course, then again to the third course. Had to ask for water refills. Perhaps shorthanded? Not terrific busing. Dinner was over two hours, which is fine when lingering over the food rather than nursing your wine so it lasts longer.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful gustatory and visual experience!
From the moment you step foot into the restaurant, the staff make sure you are well taken care of: from the hostess, to the sommelier and the wait staff. It is very SoCAL with a casual vibe but the quality of service is immaculate. We had the prix fixe menu and everything from the amuse bouche to the various courses were absolutely delicious. Our favorites were: the duck, the asparagus, the lobster, the bread, all the desserts, the sea bass, and the must have wine pairings were right on. Would definitely recommend the pairings! We will definitely return if the menu is indeed seasonal and would also try the raw bar the next time we are in town.

Outstanding food and service, in an enjoyable California casual setting. The food highlight of our first trip to the area was certainly Jeune et Jolie. Having lived several years in France, our expectations were fairly high, and the restaurant hit all of the notes. The atmosphere is fairly casual, which is not typical of a Michelin starred restaurant. However, each course of the meal, along with the selection of wine pairings, was excellent. Quality of the food and presentation met and exceeded our expectations, and the price was reasonable for the value received. Service was also first class. Looking forward to returning many times in the future.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant if slightly underwhelming experience
If you don't eat at Michelin starred restaurants then I think you'll like it a lot... if you do then it was fine, sum of the parts food with a few misfires, like a version of a croissant (enough for your morning breakfast) as an entremet. The seasoning was a little uneven but overall a pleasant if slightly underwhelming experience... no more no less.
Be the first to ReplyA simply excellent choice when in San Diego
This restaurant is kinda perfect. It’s fancy but not too fancy. The food is elegant and flavorful without being too artsy and creative. The servers and the staff are kind and generous and love food without any of the pretension. The ambiance here is also excellent. So yeah if you get a chance to come to this gem I highly recommend you do. For a 1 Michelin star restaurant the value for your 4 course meal with amuse Bouche, hidden bread course and after meal treats is well outrageously amazing!!
Be the first to ReplyAn Outstanding Restaurant that Deserves its Michelin Star
It is rare that a restaurant has it all - - great food, excellent service and a wonderful ambience. Jeune et Jolie has all three. The restaurant has a large friendly and very professional staff. A special shout out to Emily, our server. It is really a pleasure, especially given the hiring problems that restaurants are experiencing, to enjoy a meal where the staff is excellent and works as a team. From the moment we arrived at the restaurant, we felt like special guests. We were early for our reservation, so the host suggested that we have a drink at the bar. The bar is beautiful and the ambience is lively. My husband had a boulangerie which he said was one of the all time great bourbon cocktails. If you are a bourbon drinker, be sure to order it. We had dinner on the patio which is a lovely space. It is understated and charming. The tables are far enough apart that you can enjoy dinner with out hearing other people's conversations. It was a wonderful place to enjoy exceptional food. Eric, the chef, is the real deal. Every course came out of the kitchen looking beautiful, which only enhanced the sublime taste of each course. The tasting menu is well balanced and offers beautiful preparations of everything. My husband and I each made different choices for each course and everything was absolutely delicious. If you are anywhere near Carlsbad for any reason, but sure to make a reservation at Jeune et Jolie. You will not be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the Best Meals We've Ever Eaten
We had high expectations for this restaurant given the glowing reviews and Michelin star. Happily, our meal exceeded every one of our expectations. The food was simply sensational and the service impeccable. Our server patiently explained each of the dishes to help us with our choices. And the sommelier took the time to give detailed descriptions and tasting notes for each of the wines that paired perfectly with each course. As for the food, we were simply blown away by the quality, inventiveness, and flavors of each dish. There was not a single misstep in any of the dishes. While the prices are admittedly very high, the food and service for our money were well worth the splurge!
Be the first to ReplyTotally Worth It
One could easily get sticker shock looking at the prices, but upon leaving you'll feel that you really got what you paid for. Super attentive and knowledgable staff. Menu items clearly explained for those of us who don't read French. Some actual thought put into the wine pairing. Wonderfull setting with heat lamps that make you not notice the chilly air.
Be the first to ReplyDon't miss this casual Michelin One Star gem.
This casual french inspired restaurant provides new flavors that will have you saying wow1. Trust the sever to advise you on dishes and wines. Get a reservation far in advance for the full tasting menu or get there to eat in the lounge from the bar menu. You can't miss.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Culinary Experience
Second time at Jeune et Jolie this summer a nd was impressed with every aspect of the meal. The service was very prompt, and ambiance on their outdoor patio was exquisite with a great music playlist as well. The prix fixe menu options allowed our table to mix and match a few plates, so that each diner could go on their own culinary journey. Every course was exquisite, but the standout dish of the night was the cherry almond praline for dessert. Would go back again in a heartbeat.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Gourmet Value
Dining at Jeune et Jolie is truly an epicurean adventure of the best kind. Each dish we had was extraordinary, exotic and satisfying. Listings major ingredients for the dishes we enjoyed cannot do justice to the preparation, taste and presentation. For example, banana is listed as a part of “financier”. Presented looking like large thin chip, the favor and consistency were thrilling. This outstandingly prepared and presented meal was served by an attentive, friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. We enjoyed our dinner in their large, well-spaced, comfortable outdoor dining area. At $85 for this four-course dining experience, we feel we received excellent value.

Beautiful food is not easy to push out from a kitchen. It takes lots of preparation and multiple hands to make food taste good and look great.
The chef and his crew at this cozy restaurant in Carlsbad keep exquisite food humming from the open kitchen.
We enjoyed our four course dinner as well as wonderful Oysters from the raw bar.
The menu descriptions are lengthy, so I won’t post them here.
Enjoy the pictures and marvel at food done well.
Our server, Jenee, was helped by a miriad of servers who never let any food sit in the kitchen pass. Kudos to their wonderful service!
Inside and outside dining available here.
A great date night spot with great food and attentive service
This is a great date night spot. Cute, charming, you name it…. Think Breakfast At Tiffany but its Dinner at Jeune et Jolie.
The four-course tasting was great as it would fill you up but you won’t get overly stuffed. The restaurant is run by a young team which is passionate in feeding and providing the best service to their guests.
Do not miss their seafood plateau which is a lovely way to start the evening with a glass of champagne.
Next time, we will try their starry night dinner. Can you imagine having dinner with your loved ones under the stars with great food and yummy wines?
We can’t wait to go back
Evening dinner
A very expensive meal! The restaurant serves a prix fixe 4 course meal. Each course has a selection.
This was the first time to visit this restaurant. The service was excellent. The indoor decor is sort of that of a diner. The outdoor seating area looked very nice.
The food presentation was very good. However, the food itself was an amalgam of tastes as if the chef was trying to see how many different flavors he could add to each selection.
There were 4 of us eating dinner, and everyone had the same experience. The halibut was just so-so, and the sea bass was over salted!
The raw seafood appetizer, an extra cost, was very good. We should have stopped with that!
Not To Miss
Went there for our anniversary. Four course tasting menu. All courses were wonderful. Plating was beautiful. Service friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

We were not able to get reservations for the restaurant but did walk in for the bar area and menu. The specialty cocktails amazing and the food positively delicious. The atmosphere vibrant and the service superb! Highly recommend!!!
Be the first to ReplyGood, but not great.
Two of us visited in the evening for the 5 course fixed price menu. Very good attentive and informed service throughout the meal. Of the five courses, the Poisson( COD ) and Boeff ( wagyu beef ) were excellent. The crabbe was pretty good, but not particularly brilliant for seafood lovers. The panna cotta’s concord grape flavour overwhelmed the fennel and bay leaf that were reportedly in the dish. The courgette ( summer squash ) was bland and one dimensional. A good meal, but nothing really sparked the taste buds or our culinary interest and curiosity. Cannot say I would make an effort to return nor recommend it to guests.
