Jonah's Kitchen + Bar Santa Monica Reviews from The Last Year
A friend who loves to dine out recommended this restaurant
A friend who loves to dine out recommended this restaurant to me and I decided to give it a try for a business dinner. The ambiance is lovely - warm and inviting and we were seated quickly. The menu is varied and sizable. Lots of fun things from which to choose and very interesting. My colleague and I chose to share everything and we started with a ceviche app, followed by the brisket from the grill and three sides - crispy potatoes, kale and mushroom caps. We told the server we didn't want the spicy ceviche so she recommended another one but when it came it was also spicy. We ate around the sauce and mentioned this to her when she came back but she didn't really do anything about it aside from acknowledge what we were telling her. Then the meat came out and we were pretty surprised to see two pieces of brisket on a plate with a small cup of BBQ sauce (also with a slight kick!). For $32, I definitely expected a larger portion! The crispy potatoes were exceptional and I'd go back just for those but both the kale and the mushrooms were kind of tasteless. We asked for some salt and that made them better. That said, I'd say it was a somewhat disappointing experience for $120 meal...
This is a cute spot in Santa Monica that we walk to.
The wood fired ovens fill the air with barbecue. We ordered a Cabernet Savignon, Justin, for $80. A bit of a markup, but we enjoyed it. We shared the Beef Tallow Potatoes, and we ordered lamb chops, medium rare, but I should've asked for rare. My fault. My friend ordered the brisket, and it was to die for melt in your mouth fabulous. Our waitress was perfect - not overbearing but available when necessary, and she shared great suggestions. We will be definitely be back.
Ok, I love the ambiance and the food.
But they changed the menu and added a surcharge. That surcharge thing just bugs me. Let's say it's for support to employees. Employees don't usually stay long enough to actually see ANY of that compensation! It just will go more to the business! So it's just an added rip off for the customer! Let's say the charge IS to support inflation or to avoid raising the menu pricing by approximately 30 cents. That's still obnoxious! Also...happy hour an hour ONLY?? Then who's going to come to your restaurant for happy hour!? The whole point is to make an appealing happy hour so that more people COME, and STAY longer and order MORE! I think they need to rethink how to get more people in the restaurant. There's just too much competition to be that tight about things. Just don't love those changes. I swear I see surcharge on menus or bills and I already have decided I will chose somewhere else to go.
Service and ambiance here is really nice.
The food is what you expect from these Santa Monica restaurants and their prices. I'd recommend this place for drinks but maybe that's about it.

Favorite dishes: Lomo Saltado-juicy well marinated beef, perfectly blistered tomatoes and onions, easily one of the best I've had in LA Waygu Crunchers-ideal happy hour bite, reminiscent of Nobu. Well priced and packed with flavor Spanish Octopus -tender and citrusy, it's hard to execute the perfect char without overcooking the octopus and it becoming rubbery. This was our tables favorite dish, it was hard to not order 3 more. It was that good Favorite cocktails: Happy hour Paloma- strong, well made cocktail with real grapefruit juice instead of soda Spicy margarita- this one is no joke, jalapeño infused and super fresh tasting Smoke show- a mezcal lovers dream Service: Reza, the owner, greeted us with impeccable hospitality when he stopped by the table to introduce himself. From the get go, he made our party feel right at home. Our server Kayla was super well versed when it came to menu recommendations and our busser was on top of his game keeping our table clear and our waters full. Ambiance: beautiful space, resort type vibes with a great playlist. We sat in the back patio/lounge area on a cold, windy evening and the heaters kept us nice and toasty. Overall highly recommend whether you're looking for the perfect low key date night spot or an after work happy hour, this place has the vibes on lock!

Shitty service, nasty food, everything's overpriced, weirdos pouring girls alcohol from a marked bottle but drinking from a different one themselves. Sus spot.

Came for happy hour, stayed for this massive plate of delicious meat. This plate would be a vegan person's nightmare, but if you like meat, it was fantastic. They have great dipping sauces too! This spot is great. They make good cocktails. The bartenders are friendly. The bar is pretty small, so be warned, you might have to wait. They have a great outdoor spot that they can cover when it rains. The vibe here is awesome. Def going to be a new happy hour spot.

I was invited back to this restaurant to try it with improved service. It was definitely improved! Our waitress was attentive and expeditious. We received all the food we ordered and it was perfectly prepared. The ambiance on the patio was lovely again, we will be back :-)

in the heart of the city Santa Monica , Jonah's Kitchen and Bar is a culinary gem that transports you to the breezy vibes of Tulum, Mexico, with its stunning design and laid-back ambiance. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with an atmosphere that whispers of sandy beaches and swaying palms. The menu at Jonah's is a delightful journey through flavors and textures, each dish crafted with care and creativity. Starting with the grilled octopus on the Woodfire grill, every bite is a symphony of smoky goodness and tender seafood perfection. while the hamachi tacos with truffle & Mi Amora ahi tuna Tatar elevate taco night to a whole new level. Don't miss out on the refreshing Greek salad, feta that perfectly complements the rich flavors of the Peruvian yellowtail and grilled shrimp with garlic sauce. For the main course I love lomo saltado filet mignon especially when I add shrimp comes with Japanese rice that's literally on fire! And let's not forget about the Texas-style brisket, slow-cooked for 14 hours until it reaches a melt-in-your-mouth perfection that's truly unparalleled. For those with hearty appetites, the Jonah's beef platter is a must-try, offering a tantalizing selection that satisfies every carnivorous craving. And who can resist the temptation of wagyu crispy tacos, a crispy indulgence that's worth every savory bite. With each visit to Jonah's, the menu unfolds like a love letter to flavor, beckoning you to return again and again to explore its culinary delights. Incredible tasting menu! Every item was amazing.
I love the truffle tacos, wagu beef tacos, Spanish Octopus was insane, ceviche on point! I I can't wait to go there again and try more on this menu,

Yum! The food service and ambience is great but a little bit on the pricey side. We definitely go back on special date nights.
Pay restaurant prices for counter service experience.
Food came out haphazardly starting 5 mins after we ordered. Entree was in front of me before I had my drink. Folks in our group were getting their food 10 - 15 mins later. Really loud speaker blaring music over our heads so you could not hear conversation at the table. All wrong.
Go somewhere else!!
Two stars because the man at the entrance was really nice, the beer and the arrantchini! Otherwise the rest was terrible, a waiter who rushes you like never before! Barely finished the starter the dish arrives, the dish barely finished we force to remove the plates. Let's talk about the plates... the worst pasta I've ever eaten! Greasy, full of pepper, the bacon is way overcooked, in short the worst carbonara I've ever seen and my wife took the same one with cheese! So I don't recommend it at all!!
Excellent Pizza in Downtown Santa Monica
This was a return visit to Stella Barra for us. Again, we left thinking "that was pretty good." Read on for details. Located on Main Street in downtown, you will have to plan your parking or use the valet. Once inside, Stella Barra has a nice vibe with an animated crowd. Our server was attentive and helpful. We started with glasses of sparkling wine, truffle fries and moved on to a margherita and shaved mushroom pizza. The truffle fries were excellent, substantial and are a great way to take the edge off the appetite of at least three people. Each pizza featured and thin, perfectly cooked crust. I love the topping on the shaved mushroom pizza; great combo of cheese and flavors. The margherita was as good as a margherita can be. We took a pair of chocolate chip cookies to go; they were good, not as good as memory served and probably not something I'd get again. But, the pizza...I'll come back for that.
Great spot for a pizza and beer
We visited here on the 30th of September for dinner, our server Patrick was so nice and knowledgeable about the food and the local area. We shared a pizza and a cesar salad which were both tasty! Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Santa Monica
Very good pizzeria!!
Quality dishes Friendly welcome Atmosphere o top Very suitable quality/price ratio!!!! Pizza o top To recommend
Excellent Food and Service
This place is a vibe. Great atmosphere and the food was incredible. We came here with our family of five after exploring the Pier. We got the Brussel sprouts, arancini, garlic knots and pizza. This place is a must-stop on your next California adventure. 10/10 so good!
Nice dinner!
We enjoyed a good pizza, good starters and a delicious cookie (Snickerdoodle) for dessert. Good service!
Can't wait to return! Another LEYE winner!
EXCELLENT restaurant all around. Terrific outdoor dining, delicious food (pizzas, salads, chicken parm and dessert) and especially incredible management. We were dining on our way to LAX so we did have luggage with us. The team was so helpful making sure we were able to comfortably dine and keep our belongings near us. Hope we can return soon!!!
Pizza near beach
Service was good. We had one garlic knot between 3 and 3 pizzas… should have done 2 garlic knots (which were yummy) and 2 pizzas as better portions for 3 adults. Not sure about carrot on a pizza but crust was good. Overall not bad, not amazing but a good family evening out.
Probably one of the best pizza of ever!
We had dinner here and the pizzas were probably the best of ever: fresh ingredients, delicious tomato souce, crunchy and light dough....unmissable for those who love the taste of an authentic italian pizza. Alongside the food, what makes the difference of this place is people working in. Our waiter TJ was a very good and nice boy, extremely professional: maximum score and warm wishes for a brilliant career! Finally he gave us a dessert and an additional pizza as gift, too. We sincerly recommend Stella Barra!

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
