Some of the best and most fresh sushi we have ever had.
Really small interior but the owners are super nice. Definitely call and make a reservation several weeks in advance so you can get a spot. The fresh mackerel nigiri was my favorite piece of the night. Can't wait to come back!

Here for the second time in 5 years, and again the best sushi I've had in a long time (probably since 5 years ago when I was here last!). Family is super cute, outstanding service (be patient, there is only one sushi chef preparing food for 14-16 people at once), and the food is absolutely impeccable! I will definitely make it a third, fourth, fifth, etc. time here for as long as this place remains open! This place is a MUST when you visit Maui! Get the omakase!

.. I love this place! First off; it's a family business. Looks like the dad is the sushi chef, mom and daughter are servers. Super cute Japanese family. Also, their system is a bit weird as it felt like waiting forever for your food. But trust me, Be patient! They'd liked to bring out most things at once. And there's only one chef making sushi for 16 people. Moving onto the food. Omgee. It is excellent rice and excellent sushi. I'd say it's comparable to a 4-5 stars sushi high end restaurant in terms of quality and flavoring. And pricing is so cheap! I've NEVER had Omakase (chefs selection) at 55/pp (post is 1/2023). Literally every omakase I've had in my life is at least $98 and above. And I've had quite a few Omakase. Every piece melts in my mouth. Would definitely come back. Ps. You'd need go make at least 1 month out for reservation. I hope they'll still be in business when I come back to Maui in the future. According to the mom, they're getting old so not sure how long they can keep up with the demanding pace. :(
Be the first to ReplyIndeed the best sushi spot in Maui.
Small, intimate, and a good vibe. Service outstanding. Book in advance!!!!
Be the first to ReplyThis is far and away the best sushi I've ever had.
We came to Maui on our baby moon and I had to make a reservation a month and a half in advance. It was so worth it it's ridiculous. One of the best meals I've ever eaten in my entire life. Not just sushi... just compared to anything I've ever eaten. I can't even describe how much better this is than every other piece of sushi I've ever had. The ambiance is amazing. The Saki was amazing. The staff and the chef were amazing. I cannot express enough how impactful this meal was in my life. It literally changed me and how I looked and sushi and quality. 5 stars is not enough. It makes me want to take every review I've done and bring it down a star just so this stands apart from the rest. I literally teared up a little when I took my first bite. I don't like a lot of things when it comes to sushi. I got the omakase and loved every bit of it. My wife was like do you even like fish eggs? And I was like I don't think so but if ima try it anywhere here seems like a good place. every single bite I had was mind blowing. 72626198264928639293773 stars

Lucky to spend 1 week in Maui and made reservations here for 2 nights. Figured why not, if it's bad, cancel 2nd. Completely 100% wrong - it's good. That good. Expensive yes. But you're paying for quality, for the skill of the chef, for the ultimate experience. Watch how he prepares something as simple as a portion of rice by hand. Try doing that at home. Fail miserably. Appreciate the decades of experience and attention to detail. Go, sit down, trust a master chef.I believe someone asked why not expand, a new store, more tables. His reply? "Why? Very happy where I'm at."

There's nothing fancy about it. The fresh sushi is front and center. I haven't had such fresh sushi since I ate at the Tokyo fish market. It was DELICIOUS and expertly prepared. We ordered the Omakase ($50 pp). The lovely chef created a platter of the best and freshest fish available for that day, ( uni, tunas, salmon, unagi, swordfish, ebi, tamago,scallop,..) There were 12 pieces and I couldn't even finish it. The meal concluded with a complimentary bowl of fresh fruit. Reservations are hard to get but try calling between 5- 6pm . I lucked out n must have got a cancellation the same week I arrived. I tried calling months in advanced but no luck . I noticed the phone would continuously ring while I was there but the 2 attentive servers were much too busy attending to the guests to answer the phone. So here's a tip, try calling between 5-6 before they open. I also loved it so much we called in a few days later and ordered a Omakase platter for 4 as a take out. You need to give at least 24 hours notice and they only take a few take out orders each evening. It was just as GOOD as eating in the restaurant. This is a MUST if you are a sushi lover.
Be the first to ReplyTrue authentic sushi and excellent.
Extremely small (only seats 16 people max) so you have to make a reservation well in advance but worth it!
Be the first to ReplyI love sushi so when this place showed up as 4.
5 stars on Yelp of course I had to try it. My hubby called so many times to get rsvp and I was thrilled when he scored a rsvp. The restaurant is tiny. We were seated to the left side when you enter. Service was mediocre. It seems they cater more to the locals than visitors, which is fine, but that meant we couldn't sit at the bar area since it's reserved for them apparently. Now for the sushi. There was nothing special about it. I really don't get the hype about this place. My husband's sushi was warm!? I had the omakase and nothing was memorable.

We ordered the Omakase. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!

WOW. Such a cool experience in this tiny sushi bar with a sushi chef making your food right in front of you and seeing all the fresh fish. I don't think I've ever had such great tasting rolls and sushi. Definitely worth the price
Be the first to ReplyNo doubt the best sushi in Maui.

after scouring many articles, I was keen on eating at the best sushi place in kihei, hawaii. I called on friday to get 3 seats last minute for sat/tues (closed sun & mon) & I was lucky to get a call back due to a cancellation.thank you universe for answering my prayers as we're from houston, texas. everything was amazing. we got 3 omakases ($50/each), the broiled black cod, & an order of otoro, salmon belly, & unagi (2 pcs nigiri). as a sushi connoisseur, it was some of the best otoro i've had in my life. the eel, also to die for ! the cod was succulent & juicy. if i'm ever back in maui, i'll be sure to visit again. 11/10 recommendpro tip: be sure to make a reservation a month in advance as they only offer 6 PM & 7:30 PM seatings due to the small, intimate setting.

The best sushi on Maui and reservations only, they don't take walk ins. Reservations are taken a month in advance and it fills quickly because the restaurant I believe only seats 12 to 15. Recommend the omakase set. It is chef's choice and it was delicious.

The only sushi I've had in the US that compares to Japan sushi!! Incredibly difficult to get a reservation but SO worth it. Everything is super fresh and big cuts of fish. Highly recommend the omakase

I live on Maui and eat sushi at least twice a week; this is hands down the best place on the island! Reservations are tough to get but totally worth it. We drive 45 min just to eat at Koiso. If your looking for a California roll this might not be the place for you. The chef is an artist and a master at his craft - the omakase is a no brainer. My favorite days are the ones I eat here with friends!

Though I haven't been able to eat at every sushi place in Maui, I am already willing to agree with all the other reviews that say this is the best. I did try one other sushi place in the same week and it didn't even begin to compare. So do yourself a favor: make a reservation for this place. And yes, you'll need a reservation. We called on April 1 to secure our May 31 reservation. You'll need to call on the first day of the month BEFORE the month you want your reservation. There's only like ten seats in the place. The sushi is so good and so fresh. I think the Omakase is the way to go, but you might want to save room to order some extras as well. I also got the salmons avocado roll, which was also delicious. You really can't go wrong here. The service was great and super attentive as well. Don't be satisfied with subpar sushi: you will want to go here.
