Came in for our anniversary, we were super dressed up- and everyone else was dressed very casually. We felt a little out of place, but that quickly dissipated as we got a bottle of champagne rolling. The pacing was a little off in terms of the kitchen- it took quite a while to get our first couple bites, and then a really long time to get the roll we ordered. We were sitting there for about 20 minutes waiting on that piece to be brought to the table, and no mention of the wait. The BBQ albacore was a stand out- great flavor and texture. My partner was really happy with his Nigiri mix, fresh fish. Drinks (the Ecto-cooler and the dude) were really tasty, and went down easy. All in all a pretty good trip, and we will return (this time I'll sit at the chefs counter though!)

Favorite restaurant ever! Every semi special occasion I go here. Any excuse to justify spending as much money I can here because the food is so good and the service is so friendly. When I rate other restaurants/sushi I place it on a scale of 1-Kru. The rolls are good but where they shine is everything else on the menu. The seasonal appetizers always have creative and a lot of flavor and the nigiri is SO fresh and have amazing seasonings. I don't even live in sac anymore but I still name it as my fav sushi.

Got seated right away but don't expect that to happen all the time. The place is usually always busy. I recommend booking or calling in ahead of time so you don't wait hours. Good service and friendly staff. I think the sushi chef who served us was Japanese (maybe? He was an older guy), he was really friendly! We sat at the bar and he was the one serving us along with another worker who filled our waters every time we had drank a sip lol. The place looked nice and looked really clean. The sushi was also fresh and yummy (: Can't wait to be back again! It's definitely one of the better sushi places in Sacramento.

Food is ok to good, ambiance is nice. We waited for over a month for our reservation based on all the reviews we were expecting a HIT. It's a cool vibe for sure especially in sac. First we ordered drinks from the cocktail menu, for $16+ the drink comes in a tiny 10oz glass with 9oz of it being one SOLID ice cube. Husband finished his drink in 2 small sips. We moved on to beer instead which is still only 10oz but at least the price is fair. Wanted the wagyu steak - sold out. They offered the hamburger as a substitute but no. We ordered a few sushi rolls and some appetizers instead. Brussel sprouts were good, the karaage is weird but delicious. Not like any other place we've tried. Sweet and spicy. The rolls were great, but not like "omg I'm glad I waited a month to taste this" great. Ordered the duck dumpling - it came with ONE tiny dumpling, flavor was ok - but wouldn't order again, especially when we were sharing plates. Hard to share one tiny dumpling. Overall the price was high, the food was ok to good, the wait was a let down. I would eat there again on like a Wednesday on a whim, but I would not make reservations again. Plenty of other reasonably priced date night dinner spots out there.

Cindy was the best server ever! She went above and beyond! She made sure we were taken care of all throughout our dinner service. She made sure our allergy restrictions were taken care of!

Went 3 times and wait line is always long. They do not let over phone take out orders. I was on phone waitlist for 2 hours. By the time table was ready I was watching 3rd dream

Kru was giving me 10/10!!! One of the best anniversary dinners I've ever had!!! Customer service was on point, the server was all that and a bag a chips, and the food . The NGO burger and sashimi butter fish is really unmatched!!!! The food was soo fresh Definitely will be going back. Make sure to make reservations because hubby and I waited 1 1/2 hours they were very busy. That just shows how amazing they are. Thank you Kru

I had a wonderful dining experience at Kru restaurant in Sacramento. The ambiance was lovely, and despite it being a busy Monday night, we managed to snag seats at the sushi bar, which added to the overall vibe. We started with the wakame salad, which was good, and the sunomono salad, which was absolutely delicious - a perfect balance of flavors. For our main course, we ordered the rainbow roll and the flat iron steak. The rainbow roll was fresh and tasty, but I would have appreciated a bit more sauce to complement the flavors. The flat iron steak, on the other hand, was cooked to perfection and truly delicious. To round out our meal, we had the mixed greens, which were also tasty and added a nice, healthy touch to the dinner. One thing I really appreciated about Kru is that after dining there, I felt good and energized - the mark of a great, health-conscious restaurant. Kru is a fantastic spot for a satisfying, flavorful meal in a lively atmosphere. The only minor downside was the rainbow roll needing a bit more sauce in my opinion, but that didn't detract from the overall experience. I highly recommend giving Kru a try if you're in the Sacramento area and craving some top-notch Japanese cuisine.

For my mom's birthday, I decided on Kru since neither of us have been before. It was overall a great experience! Our server, Gabriel, was attentive and made our night really enjoyable! Our sushi chef, Justin, was wonderful as well and we were glad to have him guide us through my mom's first omakase experience. Thank you both so much! My favorite item of the night was the in-house made unagi nigiri (pictured). We will definitely be back to try out other menu items.

First time here for my wife and I to celebrate our birthdays. The food was ok. However the service was sub par. My server was friendly and knowledgeable but they lacked attentiveness. A lot of the servers did unfortunately. We found ourselves waiting a while between server visits for water, alcoholic drink, food reorders. Simple stuff that this caliber of a restaurant should have perfected by now.

Had girls night on a Wednesday, and boy oh boy they're so busy. Thankfully my bff made reservations a couple weeks prior, and we didn't have to wait 1.5 hrs. And yes, that's on a weeknight I don't know where to start but they have amazing new special cocktails. We ordered the first two! I forgot the names but one was "the wolf" and something lemony! So good! We could have probably gotten more lol Their special bread and butter is mind blowing and their rolls are top tier.Do not skip the desserts! We got the goat milk crรจme brรปlรฉe and banana bread! We finished everything! Parking is very challenging but after 6pm, you can park in the medical center lot. But always double check.100 recommend this place!

I just wish that it would be easier to get a seat as it is always busy. one tip is to look out for any open seating at the bar.

10/10 food, 10/10 ambiance, 10/10 service, definitely a MUST TRY if you're in the area! I came here with a couple of friends on a friday night and the place was packed so definitely make a reservation ahead of time! We ordered a ton of food and tried a couple of different cocktails and everything was so delicious. All the sashimi was so fresh and of such high quality it just melts in your mouth. The flavors of each dish were extraordinary and there was nothing that wasn't amazing, honestly. The only thing is we did have to wait a little long for our food/drinks to come out but they were extremely busy so that's understandable. My favorites for the night were the beignet, the steamed mussels, wagyu nigiri, and the melon highball!

I came with my girlfriend and a couple of her friends who haven't had "fancy" food before but they absolutely loved it here. The service was amazing and the ambiance was slightly dark and semi-casual. Unfortunately because we were so hungry we ended up eating a lot of the dishes before we got a picture before them but this is the list of things we got from there.Lobster TempuraPossibly one of my favorite appetizers everKing's rollMy favorite between both rolls we got. Slight hints of sour from lemon and a slight tang of heat.Firecracker rollHad a strong spice and tang to it, the kimchi ponzu was definitely the highlight of the roll for me.Chicken karaageCrispy and juicy chicken meat, the sauces that came with it added so much flavor to the bits!Otoro sashimiExtremely tender and was their first experience with sashimi, they definitely understood what "melts in your mouth" truly meant!Ngo burgerCooked to perfection and felt like one of the most whole burgers I've had in a whileYaki gakiGrilled to perfection, the taste of the garlic ponzu was delicious paired with the sweetness of the oyster.Chutoro carpaccioThe citrusy ponzu and spicy jalapeรฑo made the whole group excited for the rest of the mealSmoked duck kushiyakiDelicious smokey taste imbued into savory cuts of duck.Wagyu tsukuneBeefy is a sight understatement when having a taste of these skewers. Each stick was packed with bold meaty flavors and was delicious dipped in the sauce.
Be the first to ReplyIf you come 5minutes before opening it's worth it.
If you come at dinner time you're going to have to wait 60-90minutes, which was the first experience for me, and I passed for a different restaurant. This time we came right at opening. There was a line but we were quickly seated and served - except the sashimi took a long time to come out. The sashimi was either tied for first or the second best I'd had - first place coming to a place in Florida. Texture, flavor, way better than sashimi I've had at other places. My daughter is vegetarian and although there were only two veggie rolls on the menu, she thoroughly enjoyed the Midtown, which looks like lettuce cut into sushi pieces but apparently is more flavorful than what it looks like. The mushroom salad was very nice, the grilled albacore was great - just very little for the price. Also had the sunshine roll which tasted amazing and sophisticated - it has apple in it and tasted great, go figure. The Spicy tuna roll was pretty good too. Oh, and soemthing about the basic miso soup tasted more intricate - I'm not sure what they did? Downside - no edamame. We came here because our top sushi place, Midtown Sushi, went out of business. This place is more expensive and we miss the Secret Tofu dish, but Kru is a great new favorite. The service was also very kind. Come early though.

The servers were attentive and friendly. Pretty pricey though so I'll probably only be back for extra special occasions.

Very innovative dishes with spins on Japanese Cuisine. I always go here for special events (the back room for private events is lovely.) I love hearing the staff's recommendations every time they are spot on!

If you're a Sacramento resident I formally apologize but I can not stand by and watch incoming visitors to the city be taken advantage of by the Sacramento taste buds. I've found that everything in Sacramento is rated wayyyy too highly. A misguided friend of mine who sadly stays in the greater Sacramento area came to me one day with drool dripping down his chin stating that Kru had the best sushi in the world. I don't hold him to a very high standard because once again, he's from Sacramento, but I caved and allowed myself to be trapped by the Sacramento buds. I came in with an open heart and an empty stomach but was greeted by disappointing service along with mediocre nutrients for my growing pallet. The sushi was subpar. Something I could easily find at a 2 star restaurant in LA or SF. The Australian Wagyu Is where my real qualms come to in to play. This meat cost me my first months rent. I literally had to sleep on the street for 2 weeks because of this meal. It came to our table with a decent presentation but the moment I put the steak into my mouth I knew I could never trust my friend again. The steak was chewy, burnt, and tasted like it was cooked on a gas stove on the homeless man next door's grill. Did I cry? Yes. Was I happy? No. Will I ever be happy? Probably not. Thank you.P.S. during the cleanup of our table the waiter dropped a plate and chopsticks on my friends lap then continued to accidentally charge another guest's bill on our credit card. When In Sacramento I guess
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite places to go in Sacramento.
The amibance, service, and food are all top notch. It is a great place to go for a special occasion or date night. The presentation they put into each dish is amazing. Everything also tastes as good as it looks.
Be the first to ReplyNope just nope.
Half the rolls fell apart! The salmon did not look or taste fresh. What the heck is going on with Kru? Used to be my favorite sushi spot, replaced it last year with SouthPaw, but now it will not even be on the list. And I left a nice tip on a to go order . I've always hated doing that for this very reason.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service.
Excellent selection of choices. Overall we had a very great experience with this restaurant anytime we went.
