Very underwhelming meal for a $600 bill.
They fill you up on bread type things in the beginning, the appetizers and entrees were similar to what you'd expect from a wedding reception. Go here for drinks or first seating. The jazz was nice but not worth the added price built into food
Be the first to ReplyRather disappointing.
We had dinner this past Saturday night. After reading the mixed reviews we were cautiously optimistic. The restaurant is stunning and very welcoming when you first enter. It's difficult to comprehend how the owner could go so wrong with such a beautiful dining room. Overall, dining at La Grenouille feels like a tourist experience or dinner on a Disney cruise. The finale was seeing a 3% change on my $1500 dinner bill for a credit card service fee. So misguided.

Everything I loved about my recent dinner at La Grenouille: - Flowers! Dozens of beautiful, fresh bouquets filled the restaurant and made it smell amazing - Live Jazz! They played throughout the evening - Bill! He was so attentive and friendly - Soups! The split pea soup and the onion soup were best we've ever had - Champagne! The whole restaurant got a free glass at one point It's a gorgeous, cozy, romantic spot. The food was overall was very good. My only complaint was that the chicken was a bit dry, although the sauce it came with was scrumptious. To make up for it, Bill brought us dessert on the house -- a decadent chocolate grand marnier mousse. I will absolutely come back! Jackets required for the guys.
Be the first to ReplyObnoxious staff and terrible service.
Saw a large room divider fall on a guy and the staff never apologized to the guy and even scoffed at him for speaking up. Guy is now blocked by them on social media.
Be the first to Replyservice is trash.
Be ware if they drop something on you they won't acknowledge it, pretend like it didn't happen, and definitely won't apologize.
Be the first to ReplyWhites clams and raw oysters are a great.
The best way is with a good chef. Thank you, Dr. Jacqueline Sacco MD PhD
Be the first to ReplyDamn! This place lives up to its reputation.
It is a NY institution and the food is elegant and impeccable at the same time. I went for a 2 course meal - a ratatouille salad followed by a dish named after Old Blue Eyes - Frank Sinatra. I still remember the mushroom remoulade. It is an expensive experience. Once is enough for me.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance, service and food are all top notch.
Had the best frog legs, artichoke salad and sidecar. Highly recommended!

Lovely ambiance and service! We came for a celebration and they made it very special. We loved our appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Some of the meal highlights were the Baked Little Neck Clams, shrimp, and scallop. The desserts were decadent and delicious (recommend the Belle Helene--a poached pear dessert)

My (new!) fiancé and I came here for dinner to celebrate our engagement. The food was absolutely delicious. I will be dreaming about the cheese soufflé and the lamb rack for the rest of my life! Service was hit or miss. There are a few different people waiting on you and some are attentive and willing to explain the different courses/items for you while others are a bit stiff and expect you to know everything beforehand. Other than that we had a great time and the place is so beautiful with all the floral arrangements.
Be the first to ReplyBEST HOT CHOCOLATE.
Hands down the best ever. We were headed back to the Omni and the sign said it was the best. That usually doesn't pan out. It's not cheap ($16/cup) but worth every single penny. Imported chocolate, rich and creamy. If you like dark chocolate and want a rich, smooth and velvety hot chocolate... this is the place to go. Highly recommended.

Great high end atmosphere. Great service. Great presentation The food is good and the experience is amazing

Highlights included soufflés, fresh bread, petit flaky breads, petit fours, classic sole, fresh roses throughout the restaurant, attentive service and live trio band. Definitely must go.
Be the first to ReplyA friend took me here to meet some new friends.
The setting was beautiful and cozy. We sat upstairs so we didn't get to experience the live music but the owner, Phillipe, came to sing to us. It was lovely! The food was good and their mini madeleine's were my favorite.
Be the first to ReplyWow what an incredible experience.
The ambiance, service, and food was 5 star from start to finish.
Be the first to ReplyVery pretty restaurant.
A little too tight with tables...always got bumped by waiters and other diners. Respect the dress code or you will be asked to wear one of their jackets. Great service...got us in and out without seeming rushed, in time for our theater tickets. Foodwise, the onion soup was so-so, the beef bourguignon was okay...a little dry. The oysters were very fresh, though. The Grand Marnier souffle was to die for.

Had come here 4 years ago and can't believe it took me 4 whole years to return! There was a 3-year pandemic in between, but nonetheless, this was and still remains one of my top-5 restaurants in NYC.If you're looking for a sceney vibe and crowd, then look much much further. La Grenouille is an institution- 60 years of business to be exact. This is old-school NY meets old-world Paris. Very old crowd but sophisticated and distinguished, and you just feel important being in that restaurant. You won't find any Gen-Z tiktokers in here...The food remains top-notch, and service is out of this world. You won't have a bad dish, but the mist-gets are the Dover sole and the chocolate soufflé. I also had the caviar this time, and the Osetra was divine.Pro tip: they prepare the Dover sole 2 ways but also have a 3rd preparation (my personal favorite). Because it's made-to-order and contains specific ingredients, you must distinguish that you wish to have the sole prepared with the mushrooms at the time you book your reservation. You can't go wrong with any preparation, but the mushroom preparation is epic.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service.
beautiful venue. However, dinner was mediocre at best, especially for the price. The chocolate soufflé was great though. Maybe try to just go for the jazz hour for drinks and dessert if that is even allowed.

Very disappointed and shocked by the staff's rudeness! First, I was laughed at for asking for a wine and cocktail menu! This was extremely unprofessional and having no wine/cocktail menu is not the norm in high end restaurants in NYC. Second, our server did not know how to serve wine and he kept pouring wine on my sleeve! Third, another server threw the sauce for the desert on the table and disappeared without serving it on top of the dessert. Staff kept acting in such a pretentious and obnoxious attitude! Extremely shocked by the lack of professionalism in such an expensive restaurant. As others have noted, NOT worth coming back!!!!!

La Grenouille is a classic French restaurant in the heart of NYC. Romantic ambiance, glorious floral arrangements, impeccable service and fabulous traditional menu. Not sure if I know another restaurant in the world that offers not one, not two but perhaps six or seven choice of soufflé for dessert! I ordered chocolate and grand marnier because I could, will definitely be back for the others! Btw the dover sole and lamb were sublime

La Grenouille Very good French cuisine, suitable for the most discerning Francophile, may be found at La Grenouille. Service is attentive, polished and upscale (yes, captains AND waiters). It was also so refreshing to witness patrons that were DRESSED TO DINE (predominantly suits and ties for men, women in cocktail attire, or otherwise dressy attire.) The dining room is flower filled, VERY old world (from another, very missed, era) and lovely. The salmon was yummy. The warm lobster salad was delicious. The lobster ravioli was good. The sole was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and, COMPLETELY de-boned (we have struggled with sole fish bones in too many other, highly rated, restaurants). The accompanying sauce (to the sole) was also, quite good. The soufflés were outstanding (pistachio soufflé was heavenly) as was the apple tart. All courses were beautifully plated and presented. The music was a nice addition to the evening. La Grenouille is an EXPERIENCE, suitable for a special occasion. If you tip well, and enjoy wine with dinner, be prepared for quite an expensive (but not unexpected) dinner check. That said, we truly enjoyed our evening at La Grenouille as it reminded us, in the most endearing way, of lovely and sorely missed dining experiences of days gone by. We shall return.
Be the first to ReplyOne word? WOW! The food was DELICIOUS.
We got one of the appetizers that came with lobster, avocado, and grapefruit. I would have never put those items together, but it worked so well! We also got the steak with the onion rings on top. That was one of the best steaks I had in my life and the presentation was beautiful. The wine was also delicious. One of the corks ran into the wine and they gifted us two free wine glasses. That was very kind of them and we appreciate it immensely. This is a very good company and they will take care of you!

Rude. Rude. Rude. Not just to myself but to others as well. The food was borderline just an OK. Nothing to repeat or write home again. NYC in general has become a dump. And I was born there so I can say it. Thank God I moved and have a normal life with people who are happy at to have you as a client. Where people take pride in serving you, not just here's your food and Thank the stars you have been graced with a table. Get over yourself starting with this restaurant and the whole city. No wonder there is a mass exodus who wants to live in a place where you are treated poorly and given sub par food. Onion soup sucked

AVOID at all costs! 2nd flr dining the room temperature is = to temperature outside, you will have to keep your coat on while eating. $179 three corse pre-fix with $151 minimum if you choose a la crate. Food is not impressive at all, average at best. Mediocre expensive Bistro with retired older crowd (60-70+) from the area. Tiny bar with 4 chairs. Desert Soufflé $44 is a joke! I love when they wack you with "specials" 7 oysters fir $59 lol The bill tip section two lines, one for "captain", second line for "waiter". The captain on 2nd flr was annoyed when asked the price of specials which was not disclosed on a menu. His facial expressions showed complete disdain to dinners. We ordered wine which came 15-20mins after appetizers been served. There are BETTER places in Manhattan with pre-fix options with MORE transparent pricing. Expensive rent does not always translate into best food but ridiculously priced menu with captain full of attitude. If you don't order 2 pre-fix @$179 plus a bottle of wine you will get zero attention to your table. Beautiful decor but such DISAPPOINTING experience when it comes to food & service. Don't waste your time & $$$.
Be the first to ReplyDo not waste your time and money.
There is just so long a restaurant can survive merely upon its former reputation. One needs to realize when enough is enough, and give it up. The quality of the food does not even remotely compare to La Grenouille of the past. The "special" lamb chops were a disgrace. They were tiny, tough, fatty and the struggle to cut into them was a workout. When our disappointment was respectfully imparted to the manager, all he did was stare, mumble something under his breath and walked away. The chicken was barely an adult portion, and severely over cooked. This particular evening, while we were attempting to enjoy a culinary delight, there was a table full of intoxicated, obnoxious and loud patrons. The staff did not address the disruptive behavior, even though everyone else's dining experience was serious marred. At the other end of the restaurant, the owner was sitting at the bar poorly playing a guitar and singing to himself. Has this, once refined and elegant, establishment evolved into a local bar scene? Do not allow yourself to be taken advantage of and totally ripped off!
