Cute, old-style Italian bistro with an a great wine list. Gnocchi was amazing. Short rib pasta exceeded expectations. Service was decent even on a busy Saturday night. We will be back.

This Michelin recommended restaurant did not disappoint! We ordered the special, the large ravioli with shrimp & artichoke, and a mozzarella eggplant appetizer. Both were fantastic options. They had a great wine selection. The servers were attentive and polite. The restaurant itself has a great vibe, although note that if you're unable to walk up stairs, they do have a seating section up a flight, so make sure to request ground floor seating in your reservation or at the restaurant.

I'm not sure why there were so many negative reviews about attitudes... I didn't experience any negatives at all! Excellent food. You can tell this was homemade. I sat at the bar and service was great. I'd definitely return!

We tried 4 different pasta dishes and shared. All cooked perfectly including the gnocchi and the short rib special. Highly recommend.

One of the most exceptional meals I've ever eaten in a restaurant!!! Seriously cannot say enough about our experience! If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant with European elegance and New York charm, this is it! And the food...wow! We were in town just 3 nights and randomly picked La Masseria from a list we found on the web -- and we are so glad we did! Wonderful service, wonderful food, wonderful everything.

Went to La Masseria on a whim last night while staying at the Marriott Marquis. Have nothing but good things to say! When you walk in you feel like you are in a local hometown place, not a touristy restaurant in the theater distract. The decor is warm and inviting. My friend and I enjoyed our meals; she had linguini with white clam sauce, I had the signature Pasta Masseria. Both were yummy! The specials sounded amazing but we went with menu choices. But the highlight of the night was our waiter Alejandro. He couldn't have been more attentive, friendlier and knowledgeable. We will certainly be back!

We came in looking for gnocchi and were disappointed in theirs. It was very mushy. The mushroom and cheese cream sauce we requested was tasty but lacked something. The wait staff was understanding and helpful with this menu item. We started with the special burrata, which was awesome and paired with tomatoes and asparagus. We also had the meatball appetizer; the tomato sauce was tangy but good (not great). The meatball itself had a bit of breading, and I was not expecting 2 large meatballs for $31. Their bread basket and lentil dipper were possibly the best part of the meal! We would have rated this spot a 2. However, restaurant decor is amazing, and the wait staff is very attentive. I am glad we tried it because we live 2 blocks away, but sadly, there will not be a future dining experience here.

Just a wonderful restaurant! The bread basket had two delicious kinds of bread/crackers. Beautiful setting, attentive service. I enjoyed a large salad and tried a vegetarian dish. Pasta, tomatoes, a white cheese, eggplant, and a tomato sauce---just awesome!

The service was so friendly and professional. Our water glasses were never less than half and Omar our wonderful waiter asked us how we wanted to pace our dinner before our theater tickets. It was so refreshing that we had control over when our dishes were fired! The salads were delicious, (we had both the mozzarella and artichoke salads), and chicken, pasta and fish as 3 entrees. Each was favorable and cooked well. We sat on the upper, upper landing which at first I was disappointed by, but....our waiter was so attentive and while there was music and ambient noise, it was very pleasant. The staff each thanked us on our way out (soooooo nice). All and all - I will return.

It did not disappoint, my friend loved her carpaccio, and I enjoyed my broccoli appetizer. She got the oxtail Ragu special & I got the short rib Ragu. Amazingly rich sauce and homemade pasta. I tried to finish each bite but was defeated leaving a few small pieces in the bowl. Dessert was delicious as well the tiramusu was incredible, however the sorbet very average.

I expect much better food for the money that you are paying . Just got back from dinner with friends. The positives - the wine was good and Valentino was a good server. The bread was quite good as well. The negatives - the large rigatoni with short rib ragu was severely undercooked. It was hard. We struggled to eat it. The friends we went with love the restaurant so we didn't want to complain. The chicken parm was very thin and tasteless. It came with an odd side of broccoli and mashed potatoes. While the side was better than the entree, they should have given you a little bit of pasta. The neutrals - the meatball appetizer for $29.50 was decent but they should give you three meatballs for that price not two. This may have been an off night for their food but I have absolutely no idea how this place was crowded. The food was not good. I was less than impressed.

Food was great! We enjoyed the artichoke salad in particular. The service and warm atmosphere is what makes this place stand out. The staff anticipated our every need. Everything was great all around. Hostess was snotty but that's ok.

Spacious place conveniently located right near theaters on Times Square.

A little expensive. I have got a salad about the size of small apple. And my peach cocktail was so so.Grilled octopus was delicious. And dip fried calamari with shrimps was also good

We stopped in to get lunch well visiting the city to see a show and had the most divine Italian lunch. We started off the meal with the Terra mare which was a delicious mixture of octopus and cuddle fish over a bean purรฉe. The fish and octopus were so tender and just melted in your mouth. For our main dish we split the agnolotti Piemontesi and the scialatelli alla Sicilia. We loved both dishes. The agnolotti had such a delicious mushroom sauce that gave the veal and parmsean ravioli a hearty savory flavor. For the other dish the eggplant and mozzarella cheese paired with the homemade fettuccine was on levels. Part of the reason we choose both dishes we because the pasta was homemade and it did not disappoint. Definitely stop in if you're looking for an amazing Italian lunch/dinner in the city.

Wonderful service from the moment you arrive and great atmosphere. We ate here before a show and all the staff knew we had a show to see and what time we needed to depart. The Brunello by the glass was lovely, the baked calamari was delicious. The pastas were only ok but overall I would highly recommend for a pre show dinner. We will be back.

The ambiance is great the food was awesome and the service was elite. It's in the theatre district so if you have a show def make a reservation to go here.
Be the first to ReplyAlways excellent.
Food, service, and ambiance. It's unusual to excel in all three categories.

First time at this restaurant and wow the food and service were amazing. It's a small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. I did not take a picture of my food, but I had Scialatielli alla Siciliana with chicken, and it was so delicious and authentic. I also had Espresso Martini. Overall, I would recommend and definitely go make for dinner again .

La Masseria is a great Italian spot! 3 of us came here after a busy day exploring NYC and enjoyed a bottle of Pinot noir (yum) and various Italian dishes. I ordered pasta with Italian sausage and broccoli rabe in a white wine sauce which was very tasty and not too heavy! The portions were big enough to take some to go but not crazy huge. They even surprised my mom with a piece of tiramisu in honor of her birthday (and they sang to her - to her embarrassment/delight).

Be the first to Replyl2:00 pm Lunch reservation on 2/5/2022.
1) we arrived 5 minutes early and were prevented (on a sub-zero day) from entering and had to wait until another group was seated. 2) bread sticks were stale and the salt was melted onto the sticks. Not enough bread. 3) appetizers: ordered the mozzarella (ice cold and should have been room temperature) side of linguini that was a ball of paste. 4) salmon was not fresh and tasted bad. Potatoes weren't roasted and were cold and hard. 5) Ordered cappuccino and cafe Americano. Was served two espressos. Waiter was very confused and then showed up with our coffee order. Only because he passed out table with them. I make reservations for several of my bosses. I've always liked Masseria until now. Extremely disappointed for what wasn't an inexpensive lunch.
