Extremely pleasant environment and service.
The cuisine was a bit too ordinary for the price. Hence four stars out of five.

This was my second time at Lark for dinner, and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious and consistent with the first time we went. I highly recommend their Agnolotti pasta dish as a second, you will not be disappointed! I also love the light and open atmosphere/decor, it really sets the vibe for the entire meal. They have a beautiful patio area that overlooks the river, and I'm looking forward to coming back and enjoying the view with drinks/apps as the weather turns!

We got lucky and a reservation opened up right before our movie! We were supposed to just have a drink but we ended up getting delicious pasta and bread, and another round of drinks. Good vibes and service all around!
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant around! The food is excellent.
The service is better. After having our first date at Lark, it is a big factor in why my wife and I are now married. Thank you Lark
Be the first to ReplyThis is such a fantastic place.
Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, good and attentive service. The outside deck is relaxing and beautiful. Inside is buzzy and fun. The food is delicious .. amazing branzino, tuna crudo, pork chop and all the pastas. Cocktails are creative and yummy and wine choices are reasonable and pair well with the menu.. This restaurant is always worth the trip -- for a special event or just a night out!

Expensive Watch out for popup chefs fixed price dinners Good but expensive bar and they are still using measuring cups to make drinks. Indicates to me that they still need to learn, new or cheap

Wow, this place was amazing! From the food, to the ambiance, the service, the staff. I'm in awe at how perfect everything was. Absolutely loved our waitress, Madeline. The manager, Lauren was wonderful. She made sure everything was great and it sure was. Will recommend this place everytime! Everything we had was delicious!

The food is exquisite and they offer items that you don't see everywhere. The staff is great and the atmosphere is amazing. The view outside and the interior decor is warm and inviting.

I had the opportunity to experience Lark as a guest at a private event, which was a birthday dinner. There were 24 attendees at the event, which was held in a room that it seems could've probably accommodated about 50 people. The room was intimate and dimly lit and had a beautiful view of the pedestrian bridge that connects Bala Cynwyd to Manayunk. The event started with a cocktail hour, with shrimp tempura, fried oysters, curry chicken skewers and tuna tartare; there was also open bar - I'm not much of a drinker so I ordered a zero proof cocktail called an Iron Rose, which was lemon (of some kind), Rosemary and Ginger- it was so refreshing and delightful. We were all seated after cocktail hour and served a three course meal, family style - I can't remember all of the options but I do recall that: a salad (i can't recall what was in it specifically but the vase of it was mixed field greens), pasta (there were 2 types one with meat and one without - I ate the one without and it was so delicious) and the final course was meat (options were roasted chicken with quinoa and broccolini, Branzino w/ grilled vegetables and NY strip steak) - I had the roasted chicken and Branzino both were succulent. The service from the time that my hubby and I arrived until we left was AWESOME! I do not recall the main server's name but he was so attentive - what I appreciated most is that some of the dishes were made with nuts, one of the guests could not eat nuts so the server made sure to let the chef know and this guest was able to have customized plates based on his dietary restrictions. As we were exiting the private room, I did observe the atmosphere if the main restaurant and it is truly a gem - the vibe was low key sophisticated. I totally recommend this spot!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best meals I have ever had.
Food was outstanding! So was the service. Had the: oysters on the half shell, beef tar tare, Campanelle pork cheek ragu & cider glazed scallops. All were amazing. I was there on a very busy New Year's Eve weekend evening. Nick Elmi's business partner Fia Berisha was on site. She could not have been anymore personable or knowledgeable. She went from table to table explaining the entrees and asking customers about their meal.

Do it! They rotate their menu and this will make me come back for sure. Went here for my birthday and loved the recommendations from the server. The room is beautiful !
Be the first to ReplyI love Lark every time I go.
Even if going for one drink you have a great time. The bartenders are great and the bar has ample seating.

Food was delicious and reasonably priced! Have been meaning to come here since we moved to Manayunk 3 years ago and we'll definitely be coming back. Favorite dishes were the burrata and the pork ragu pasta. Was surprised at how nice the restaurant is inside, I'd love to come back for happy hour and sit outside. 4/5 stars because the food didn't blow me away, but was very tasty!

Service: A Food: A- Pricing: A Ambiance: A+ Out for a bday celebration with 11 people. Lounge area cocktails and service were spot on. Something for everyone. After all arrived, quickly seated and the festivities began. Our server was great and personable. A lot of great dishes to choose from. Only thing I say is about the portions. Server suggests 1 dish from each section (3 course before dessert) and kept saying the portions were small. They were not small at all. An appetizer and 1 dish was more than enough per person.
Be the first to ReplyMy oh, my, what an incredible experience! Lark is
My oh, my, what an incredible experience! Lark is hands-down, one of the top restaurants in the city right now...they are hitting on all cylinders from food to service to atmosphere. Before even getting into their standard value, I need to share this story of how they celebrated my mother-in-law. In my reservation, I had notated that we were celebrating a birthday, and as soon as we walked in and mentioned our names, they confirmed that we were still celebrating, which was reassuring to know that it was top of mind. When we sat down, they brought a cute birthday card with all of the staff signatures on it and wishing her happy birthday. That was then followed by complimentary sparkling white wine, which was a great way to toast to the evening (& tasty). Then, of course, as we closed out the night with dessert, they added a candle to her plate. This whole experience just really made it apparent that they pay attention to the little details across-the-board.Now, with that aside, the first thing I'll comment on is the atmosphere. With it being located off of City Avenue and set back with the Marriott hotel, there's plenty of parking (so know that that is an alleviated headache no matter where you are coming from in the city). You step inside and take the elevator to the top floor, and are immediately welcomed by the host staff (optional coat check). If you are early for your reservation or you're waiting for the rest of your party, they have a really cool lounge area where you can order drinks and take in views of the surrounding neighborhoods through their huge windows. All throughout the restaurant, they really leverage tall ceilings with modern design and filled with green luscious plants. It just had an overall fresh feeling, and not to mention, they had a great complimentary music vibe .When it comes to the food, Nicholas Elmi obviously has his reputation, and this met all expectations that you could ask for. The dishes were creative, centered around a Mediterranean theme and heavy on the appetizers, which are meant to be ordered in more of a tapas format. The menu features a variety of seafood, homemade pastas, and a few signature entrées. I seriously could not even pinpoint what my favorite dish was because they were all so good! I would recommend anything from the list of what we ordered below:Focaccia, Olive Oil Butter, Marinated Olives, Preserved Tomato, Calabrian Peppers $11Gnocco Fritto, Ricotta, Prosciutto di Parma, Preserved Lemon $16Tuna Tartare, Olive Caramel, Caperberry-Tomato Vinaigrette, Cured Egg, Horseradish $17Burrata, Honeynut Squash, Sage Pesto, Hazelnut Agrodolce $17Spanish Octopus, 'Nduja, Red Onion, Crispy Sunchoke, Black Pepper Vinaigrette $19Squid Ink Chitarra, Mussels, Black Truffle, Preserved Tomato, Chili $21Halibut Au Poivre, Hen of the Woods, Baby Turnips, Chicken Jus, Harissa Black Lentils $38Pork Chop Milanese, Honeycrisp Apple, Fennel, Lemon Caper Aioli $41While there are a number of vegetarian options in the appetizer and pasta menu, the only area that I think could be potential room for improvement is offering a signature vegetarian entrée. Otherwise, the menu is seasonal and rotates, which keeps things fresh, and certainly will drive us back to come here all throughout the year. Now, truly, I feel like the category that really separates a five-star restaurant from other top tier restaurants is the service. I believe that Elmi holds his restaurants to a high standard, but we were really fortunate with our waiter. He was fun, engaging, directional, and not overbearing. He helped us navigate the menu, provided great recommendations of both portion size and what to eat, and really leant in when he knew that my mother-in-law was celebrating her birthday. He made the night that much more enjoyable! As we wrapped up dinner, we stepped outside onto their rooftop terrace and looked out over Manayunk, sitting by a warm fire and recapped what we enjoyed the most. This is a restaurant where I would say you shouldn't spend a second contemplating if you should go or not...GO!

The Lark is a hidden gem in Bala Cynwyd with dope vibes, great views and even better food! The service was great and they even took the extra gesture to have the whole team sign a bday card when we shared that we were celebrating! We have eaten here twice and every dish has been amazing!
Be the first to ReplyFood was delicious, wait staff was so polite and friendly.
The restaurant was really good looking, high ceilings. Great for birthdays or celebrations of any kind.
Be the first to ReplyWe had an outstanding dinner at Lark.
Our waiter , Kevin, was exceptional. He explained all the specials and entrees. He was particularly sensitive and attentive to one of our guests who had a peanut allergy. The meal was scrumptious!!!! Every bite was delicious. The venue was stunning. Even on a rainy night, it was warm and cozy.Already looking forward to going back. Great job!!!!!

Birthday dinner review!Nic Elmi is a Philly chef I've known and followed since before his come-from-behind Top Chef victory. Laurel had already provided a fantastic birthday dinner for me (<a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/laurel-philadelphia-2">yelp.com/biz/laurel-phil…</a>), and Royal Boucherie is one of those bistros that had delivered many a fantastic experience when he was behind it (<a href="https://www.yelp.com/biz/royal-boucherie-philadelphia-2">yelp.com/biz/royal-bouch…</a>).He's one of those chefs who can really do almost anything in Philly and make it a win, so when I first read he would next be involved with two restaurants in Bala Cynwyd (<a href="/redir?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.phillymag.com%2Ffoobooz%2F2021%2F10%2F25%2Flark-nick-elmi-royal-boucherie-refectory%2F&s=eb36f65ef429351f0e8a4889bc84511bf8f4ac252ca7d07d02c66a46b303e2db" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">phillymag.com/foobooz/20…</a>) I thought it was a typo! But my interest was beyond piqued, and going to the Landing Kitchen led to an incredible all-day cafe experience that I need to drop a future review on!Lark was one of those restaurants that needed to wait for a special occasion though. So, I thought that the five-year anniversary of when I dined at Laurel after an Eagles Superbowl parade would be the perfect time to go to Lark before the Eagles won it again (proving that not everything goes as planned), and it led to another fantastic dining experience from a Top Chef! The cocktail menu delivered an exceptional variety of signature options and classics, especially for dessert where I savored an old fashioned with a couple of different amaros. depending on where you sat the view had a good overlook of Manayunk and Philly, and it was easy to appreciate the modern interior, spot-on service, and fact that they had some well-rounded zero-proof drink offerings.During our meal I enjoyed the following:Burrata - the fresh and creamy mozzarella with honeynut squash, sage pesto, and hazelnut agrodolce was so incredible that we chowed down before I could take a photo.Chilled Jumbo Shrimp - done both spicy and sweet with a fennel mojo picon and olio verde!Halibut Au Poivre - Hands down the best Halibut dish I ever had with hen of the woods mushrooms, baby turnips, harissa black lentils, and a chicken jus to bring all the flavor!Olive Oil Cake - a decadent but savory dessert that came with a tasty Greek yogurt gelato.Overall, it was another great Elmi experience that has me ready for another visit!
Be the first to ReplySwanky interior with Mediterranean flare eats and views
Swanky interior with Mediterranean flare eats and views overlooking the Schuylkill River, I can see why Lark is a foodie favorite! Nestled in the ironworks at Pencoyd landing, the experience at Lark starts with a elevator ride to the top floor. The restaurant itself was bustling with patrons, even at 9:45pm on a Saturday which was when my reservation was for. The aesthetic of the restaurant is perfect for a date, but maybe not the first date since it's notably loud. The food was good! The squid ink chitarra was packed with flavor; strong notes of truffle oil and chili. The mussels served in the chitarra were meaty and the perfect addition to the pasta. The pasta was a tad more al dense than I prefer, but I'm sure it was intentional. The grilled branzino was my favorite. The skin was crisped to perfection and the fennel, caponata, raisin medley served on the bottom, made for the perfect side. Balanced yet complex flavors

Came to Lark to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and we had a great time! Food, service, and ambiance were all on point. We were greeted with a handwritten birthday card- such a cute touch. Andre, our server, gave great recommendations throughout the night. My favorites were the octopus and the branzino but everything was a hit. I am looking forward to visiting during the summer time and enjoying their beautiful outdoor space. Found a new gem!
Be the first to ReplyCame to Lark for a date night on Saturday after seeing it
Came to Lark for a date night on Saturday after seeing it on a few "best for" lists for Philadelphia. Its a very sexy restaurant with great lighting. It's cold now but it seems like they have a patio that, because they are on the seventh floor, would give a great view of the Schukyill River. Our service was divine. The food was light and tasty. We got the gnocco fritto, tuna tartare and jumbo shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was a big serving and had delicious sauce on it - not your usual shrimp cocktail appetizer.SO and I shared the branzino and halibut - both good with interesting sides/accompaniment and finally a shared olive oil cake with some of the most delicious greek yogurt gelato I have ever had. Will be back when it's warmer.
Be the first to ReplyI went to Lark with my parents to celebrate my birthday,
I went to Lark with my parents to celebrate my birthday, and it was everything I could have hoped for. On the way up in the elevator, the couple we shared the ride with told us that not only was the food excellent, but the service was special, and they weren't wrong.First off, the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. The interior is stunning, and of course, being atop the hotel (trust me, it's a restaurant in a hotel, not a hotel restaurant), even though we weren't seated at a window table, the view was clearly lovely too.As we settled in to our table--the hostess who seated us had recognized me from my visits to Zahav, so we had a nice chat on the way--I was welcomed with a signed card from their team wishing me a happy birthday. I knew it was going to be a great night, especially when we met our server, who had also worked at CookNSolo (the company behind Zahav, Laser Wolf and others) restaurants. Let's just leave it at this: Service is exceptional here.On to the food. After getting a primer on the menu, we opted to start with the hamachi ceviche, the Spanish octopus and the burrata with honeynut squash. We wanted to start relatively light going into the pastas, and these three complemented each other well. I think the crowd favorite was the octopus, which came with 'nduja, red onion, crispy sunchoke and a black pepper vinaigrette, but I would order any of them again. That brought us to the pastas, which were an absolute revelation. We had the potato cappelletti, which came with an uni bouillabaisse emulsion, fennel pollen and crispy shallot, and the squid ink chitarra, which was joined by super tender mussels, black truffle, preserved tomato and chili. It's hard to describe just how good these were, but they literally reduced me to primal grunts to express how much pleasure I was having eating them.Next for me was a pork chop milanese, which came with apple and fennel and a lemon caper aioli. It was excellent, though it was huge. On my next visit, I might opt for something more like the delicious branzino my dad ordered, or their halibut, which also sounded great. (Or maybe the trick is to order 2 mains for 3 people, depending on what else you're ordering.) If I hadn't been leaving town the next day, though, I might have brought some home; it would have made one of the all-time great sandwiches the next day. Finally, desserts were olive oil cake and a malted chocolate bonet. Both were excellent and not overly sweet, which my full stomach appreciated at that point. Before we left, stuffed and happy, we took a look at the beautiful outdoor balcony area, which is open in warmer weather on a first-come, first-served basis. The bottom line here is that Lark is stunning proof that you don't have to drive into Philly to have a great food experience.
