Great value lunch and fabulous service
My daughter and I stopped here for lunch. We shared a plate of trofie with pesto and a pizzetta with speck and potato. The trofie was al dente and the home made pesto was delicious. The pizzetta had a lovely crust and was adorned with thick slices of speck. This restaurant is part deli and sells a variety of meats, cheeses and wine to go. We had a glass of Malvasia each, which was light and refreshing and inexpensive at £5.25 for a 175ml serving. The service was friendly and attentive and I can't wait until I can eat inside. A really lovely place for lunch.

The food was excellent - really generous portions and the pizza was fabulous. Really fresh, chewy, and lovely toppings.
The arancini were meaty and tasty. We took away some pastries which were also so good!
The highlight was the service. So friendly, welcoming and informed. Absolutely recommend if you’re in the area!
Charming Georgia
I had lunch in this lovely deli a couple of days ago and everything was incredibly delicious . I had penne à la Norma (aubergine and tomato sauce) which was a proustian experience and to finish I had the most delicious Tiramisu which came highly recommended by the lovely manager Georgia , who was the quintessential Host. A lovely place , relaxing and simple.

I’ve been going to Latteria since it opened. It was a welcome addition to that part of Essex Road since nearby Dolce Coffee, although cheaper, wasn’t offering very good coffee or nice ambience, and they’re not really dog friendly.
At first I was very impressed. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Staff would hold open the front door if they saw me coming (it’s incredibly heavy). Orders were taken quickly and delivered promptly. Water was in a bottle on the table.
The coffee is good but always tepid. If I ask for it to be hotter, it either makes no difference or is scalding. Pastries are nice enough but not the best in town. I had a full breakfast once and it was good.
But the notable point is that service is now poor. No open door. Not much of a greeting. No one comes to take orders so I have to go back to the counter. Coffee and food are slow to arrive. No water on the table. Staff seem indifferent to the customers. I see they’ve very quickly abandoned their loyalty card scheme.
All in all a real disappointment after a promising start.
Raise your game, Latteria, or you’ll lose me.
Pizza the best in London
This place has the best Pizza in London by far, however we ordered online the once and then never again, I just want to know why this has changed as I would order this all the time if I could.

Stopped by this morning for coffee. The staff were so friendly. Decided to have coconut cake to accompany the coffees and what a huge portion it turned out to be !
The rest of the menu looked interesting and the pizza portions on display looked delicious as did the various pastries.
The decor was immaculate although personally I felt it too clinical. Only one opinion though .... Would definitely recommend.
Could be so much better
Some of the food is divine (bitello tonnato and taglietelle ragu, for example), some mediocre or poor (lasagne) but what really gets me is the miserliness of the portions. I just paid £12 for a starter size seafood and rice salad, takeaway. It had about 4 prawns and no other seafood and was mostly just rice with a few peas. Their paninis are about £8.50 as well and although nice, not worth that much. Service is smiley but incompetent on the whole.
Be the first to ReplyHeavenly Croissants+Cappu
Visited Latteria with my daughter and, not feeling particularly hungry but loving the look of the wonderful display of sweet treats, we decided to share a croissant filled with 'crema'. Oh my word - love at first bite! Literally the finest, flakiest, done-to-perfection croissant stuffed to the crumbliest edges with a creamy, smooth vanilla custard. It was one of the best croissants I think I have ever eaten. Anywhere. Staying for a few days over two weekends we returned often and the croissants were consistently amazing. Cappuccino and hot choc were also good and we saw lots of happy people around us eating, drinking and enjoying the beautifully done surroundings. Such lovely staff - happy to serve and make people smile. Loved this place!

We came here on a lovely summer Sunday morning and loved the cheerful decor, and more so the helpful smiley waitress. I had read about the crab spaghetti and was delighted that they serve that for breakfast so we ordered 2 portions (at 10am!). It was satisfactory though not quite as good as what I expected. The pastries though were quite nice (mixed berry tart and custard croissant). I had the Crazy Beach mocktail - it was fine. There was nothing too memorable but for a Sunday morning, it was decent enough.
