Drinks and dessert before the Louvre
We had originally booked a table for lunch prior to our entry to the Louvre but we missed our connecting train from Versailles and were late so we had some drinks and dessert. The staff were very friendly and welcoming! The dessert was lovely and all of the food being served at other tables looked outstanding! We were sat with a view of the Louvre which was lovely!

Very disappointing experience. Arrived 10.10 for 10.30 reservation. Our order of Omelette and scrambled eggs with bacon was served cold. Had to ask for them to be heated, staff dismissive. Very poor service. This is my fourth visit in 10 months. Will not go back. Too many fabulous cafes to choose from.
Be the first to ReplyArrogant waiter demanding a tip on my card
Been here a fair few times over the years as whilst expensive it is a good location and good for lunch. This time a young arrogant waiter asked (basically told me!) to give him a tip on my card and then lectured me how France is different to the US (sigh…). This really annoyed me and what was worse I did leave a tip - I know well enough how it works here and what service compris means and if exceptional I do leave some money (cash) on top - this certainly wasn’t and was truly awful. Never again will we come back here.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and shocking service
Shocking service. €50 for full breakfast! Freezing cold inside. Save your money, lots of other places to choose from with more choice.
Be the first to ReplyRude personnel!!! Bad experience...
Personnel screaming at us, when moving to another table that was agreed with his colleague. He keeps on screaming at us and not taking time to listen to our explanation. Very rude and impolite. We decided to cancel our order and left immediately. There is no customer service! Not recommended.
Be the first to ReplyManager took one look at our clothes
Great view and surprisingly good food - everyone was happy and content with their lunch. However, when we arrived the manager took one look at our clothes and then chose who got to sit where based on that (behind the table on the bench or on the side where people walked past). This obviously made many of us uncomfortable - if you've been walking all day you're not going to show up for lunch in your Sunday best. Waiting service was swift and attentive even though some drinks were forgotten from our order. I also saw people sit down, look at the menu and then leave. Expensive? Maybe. Good food? Absolutely. I highly recommend any kind of fish they offer.
Be the first to ReplyPoor Service!
I don't know how to start: I visited there just because it is highly recommended place but I have experienced many poor things; first I asked the lady that I wanted to sit anywhere that is near to the seat that I can charge my phone (the battery was really low) she said that they cannot help about it. I said ok fine but where I'm sitting I could see the socket just right corner next to the other table. So I changed my seat and then while I'm enjoying my meal, I wanted to use wifi which I see 2 networks named Cafe Marly. I asked the waiter for the password and the answer was negative. and finally during the bill (that was the final closure) the waiter said something I couldn't understand so I asked him politely to repeat it. He rudely said "do you speak english?"I answered yes and then he repeated his sentence and then I confirmed by saying "do you mean tip?" after he confirms, I said I'm sorry I don't have any cash with me. Is this a general behavior to all tourists visiting the place? If it is so, I'm truly sad about it. I was in Paris for a week and this was the only poor horrific service I've had. Maybe I will visit second time to observe the service but I don't know. I gave one star just because I enjoyed my meal, wine and bread. that's all.
Be the first to ReplyGreat view of the Louvre!!
I saw this on IG, and I wanted tp try it after our chaotic day at the Louvre. It did not disappoint.. it overlooks the Louvre, and make sure you have reservations. The service was impeccable.. ask for Jullien, he is AMAZING, WONDERFUL, and gives great recommendations on the food. We had the salmon and sea bass with mash potatoes.. WOW!!! the desert was the giant eclaire and CRACKERS cheesecake.. OMG.. I almost DIED OF happiness.. I heard the pavlova dessert also.. next time. I had the st. Germaine spritz, cafe anericano, and a French port... amazing all around.. JULIEN, merci Beau Coup pour l'excellent service...
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful view & service!
We walked in and got seated outside with a view of the Louvre. Yes it’s an expensive venue but that comes with the location and views I guess. The food was tasty and service was great so overall 5* from us.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid!
My friend and I were greeted by the hostess who was more than happy to seat us indoors without having a booking. We arrived at 11:30 and were told that breakfast ends at 12:00 and were handed a breakfast menu so we quickly sat down and made our choice within a couple of minutes as to not inconvenience the staff and kitchen etc. However, we were ignored by staff for half an hour until one waitress came and informed us that she would be changing our menus to the lunchtime ones which was not what we had agreed to initially. I stated to the waitress that we were informed that breakfast ends at 12:00 and that this is the reason we were given breakfast menus. The waitress laughed as though this was our fault and we misunderstood as ‘breakfast ends at 11:30’, despite being told otherwise earlier. She had said ‘I’ve been told you are joining us now for lunch instead of breakfast’ even though this was never agreed. I said that we would look at the lunchtime menu but this was not what we had agreed to. Ended up ordering from the lunch menu as we were hungry and didn’t have time to find elsewhere to eat. The food arrived and was nice but overpriced and slightly cold. Overall, our experience was mediocre. The staff were pretentious and rude, constantly going around empty tables and perfecting their presentation whilst not taking our order for 30 minutes. Would not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect location
I think just for the location- go here!! I would recommended making a booking to have the highest chance of getting the best table with a good view. Obviously the prices are high for what it is due to location. The club sandwich was full of mayonnaise, but the burger was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyTourist Trap
The location is 5/5, but other than that save your time and money. This is a tourist trap. We ordered scramble eggs and they were very runny. The food is overpriced and service was subpar.
Be the first to ReplyPretentious and food / service poor
Having waited nearly one hour for a club sandwich and other orders the food came - it was cold and very disappointing. Staff ignored any reasonable request. Unless you want to sit amongst pretentious wannabe fashionistas and pay over inflated prices to be ignored by the staff then avoid this place.
Be the first to ReplyGreat to people watch-food just medicore
The waiting staff are young and stylish. We hadn’t made a reservation but managed to get a table for lunch before visiting the Louvre. The view of the Louvre pyramid from our table was fabulous! The lunch menu was very limited and expensive for what it was. Wine list is pricey too. I had a chicken Caesar salad and it was fine- nothing special. The view made the experience.
Be the first to ReplyDiscriminatory behaviour of staff
We wanted to have lunch. They refused us entry based on my 10 year old wearing shorts. Staff were rude and demeaning. Some of them were even letting us have a table when another came and stopped us. Disappointed that eateries such as these operate in this way in a prime tourist location such as the Louvre!
Be the first to ReplyLunch with Family
I went there with my family and we had booked in advance. the problem is that they refused to let us sit outside and made us go inside the restaurant with no view because one of my kids was wearing a training pants. so we didn't want to make a fuss and we accepted to go inside. But i discovered later on when leaving they there was people siting outside and wearing sports wear. So it seems that they are not applying the rules on everyone and i see this as discrimination Anyway, the food was good but we didn't have the experience we wanted
Be the first to ReplyYes, you're right at the Louvre. But sadly, Cafe Marly isn't nuanced or lovely
I had been walking solo for about 90 minutes and wanted to eat before going to wake up my family to explore the city. Settling into my seat and looking out over the vast line of tourists lining up for security screening, one realizes that there are more special cafe experiences in Paris. Eggs were okay. Coffee simply fair. Paid more than 20 euros total. Hmm... Nice connection with the American couple next to me on their honeymoon.
Be the first to ReplyAnticlimactic
Let's be really clear about this restaurant: if you want to spend your afternoon in a 'café' with horrible service, skyrocketing prices, a basic menu and old furniture and a great view of the Louvre, by all means, go. However, if you want to spend your afternoon in a pleasant café, possibly without the great view, but with a nice and innovative menu and correct prices, this is not the place for you. The staff is arrogant and not well-trained, the menu is ordinary and, frankly, the covers of the chairs on the terrace really need a good wash. Café Marly is one of these places you go to for an experience (the view, the staff etc.), but you leave with an inferiority complex.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Place to Start the Day!
My mother and I had tickets to the Louvre and decided to start with coffee and baguette with jam before entering. The view is amazing! Our waiter was so kind and efficient. The coffee and food tasted perfect. I would recommend popping in here before or after a day at the Louvre.
Be the first to ReplyExcelent!
The quality of the food and service is amazing. The employees did everything possible to make our experience as unique as possible.
Be the first to ReplySurreal setting and wonderful evening
I went here with a group of friends for my hen night, group of 6 girls. The setting was just perfect, lovely ambiance and we were lucky with the weather in March, it was perfect for dining in the outdoor section. The beauty of the building was enjoyed by us all. The food was excellent, wine list was expensive but we soaked it all up and enjoyed the experience.
Be the first to ReplyTasty breakfast with amazing view
View and location are amazing! Breakfast was very good too… we enjoyed it a lot, it was a hood start to rhe day! Would absolutely recommend
Be the first to ReplyPass if your short on time ..
Horrible service & rude hostesses. We waited 30 min before someone came to ask about drinks another 30 to get the order most of the people around us just left. 2 older ladies asked for blankets and the heater to be turned on to every waiter / host that passed they never were helped and left as well. We would have to but happen to be waiting on friends to meet up with us so we waited. The caviar was subpar the pornstar martinis were just passion fruit juice. The only positive takeaway was the desserts that we ordered instead of a meal were instagram-able but also very tasty.
