Very, very disappointed!
A disappointing experience. This restaurant, which was THE reference for Chinese gastronomy in Geneva, is today no better than the average decent restaurant where you would pay a quarter or a fifth of the price. In addition, the service is more than average. The servers are not ill willed, but visibly inexperienced. To make their task easier, the emerald menu is now served grouped (3 dishes served at the same time), which is not worthy of a starred restaurant. In short, the taste is rarely there, and the value for money is very disappointing. They won't last long if they don't make a recovery effort as soon as possible.

The art of surprising you in each dish with extraordinary creativity and talent. Without a doubt my favorite dish is the Sweet & Sour Ribs.
Be the first to ReplyWhose fault is Michelin or Tsé Fung?
We always expect an exceptional moment when we spend €200 for a single meal and we rely on the Michelin guide to be sure we have chosen the right address. And we don't even look at TripAdvisor (serious mistake this time). One star isn't nothing, we're going to enjoy it, we're booking, can't wait for the big day. We arrive at Tsé Fung Genève at the Reserve, a truly charming and remarkable place. We are well received, the room is classic but comfortable, there are people there so we think it must be good even if the menu does not announce a big surprise. Then the appetizer arrives and flop we already know that we have been deceived by Michelin. Yes by Michelin because the kitchen team does what they know how to do, what they do every day! Michelin gives the rating. So the critic(s) who rated this restaurant certainly have a taste bud problem but also a vision problem! Ordinary plates, zero visual magic. Tasteless products not at all sublimated, just covered with sauce that is either too salty or too sweet. At the local all-you-can-eat buffet for €20 it's the same. Except the wines which were very good, nothing Chinese about it... When I think that Michelin took away a star from La Bouitte this year to keep one at Tsé Fung, which in my opinion does not even deserve a gourmet bib. So who do we trust?

It was a great moment for Valentine’s Day, well balanced menu fast and professional service. Meeting with the Chef. The ambiance is quite romantic, tables well spaced. Kudos for the lobster and meat skewers. For true chinese gastronomy do not hesitate to visit
Be the first to ReplyGood food, good waiter but very poor maître d’hôtel
Excellent food but very poor service from the maître d’hôtel while the server Eric was helpful and kind. We asked the maître d’hôtel for a not spicy sweet and sour chicken for my wife. It was not given or explained. We did also ask a question regarding the chef. He could not answer but said he would ask the chef and revert. None. Finally he was not there when we left to ask us about our stay. Not acceptable for such a high quality restaurant.

30 year’s quality! Amazing Restaurant inside the hotel La Reserve! I always visited the last 30 years and the quality of food is exceptional! We had the Pecking duck crispy and tasty! Don’t miss that restaurant it’s always a great choice!

A Chinese restaurant barely better than the one in the neighborhood... With very low-end service With too high a price With a pretty room but in the dark Very very disappointed. It made us not even want to go and sleep at the Reserve....

Long waiting time before ordering. Forget the glass of wine. Little advice. The Service was not worthy of the standard. Food quality very good but does not justify the price. Cozy and chic atmosphere but the lamp on our table malfunctioned. A mixed experience

Very nice establishment. Very professional staff. The dishes are fine and refined. The prices are a bit exaggerated... To do again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat discovery
Very nice discovery for this restaurant but a shame that some dishes and accompaniments are quite bland, without flavor. Very good service
Be the first to ReplyThe Best Chinese Food I’ve tried so far.
We looove Chinese food, and so far this is the best restaurant we have ever been to. Pecking duck is amazing, and dumplings are too. Everything we tried - we absolutely loved! And the location is stunning.
Be the first to ReplyLovely food but not impressive
The food is very well prepared but no surprises except for the dessert that was amazing. What I mean is that - for example - spring rolls are delicious but they are still springrolls (same family of the cheap Chinese restaurant in your neighborhood). Service is excellent and the place wonderful.

Despite this being a highly recommended place to dine, we cannot recommend Tse Fung. It is a 20minutes drive from city centre Geneva for a start. The greeting was lack lustre and once seated we were asked if we would like water and agreed. The 2nd interaction was some else who arrived and asked if we would like lobster. We thought we had misinterpreted lobster as water and indicated we had already been asked. However, no…in this brazen and vulgar sort of up-selling, it was indeed would we like some lobster. I can think of so many more gentle and welcoming ways to introduce perhaps what is a specialty dish, but this is not it. The only seating outside in the heat of summer might be better thought of. “We do not open indoors was the response to our request. To their credit, the food is plentiful. Quality was in a word, fine. Certainly not living up to expectations or suggestions that it is among Geneva’s finest for Asian cuisine. The notion that a reservation is hard to come by is surprising. The service that followed lunch delivery was absent leaving us waiting and looking for someone with whom to pay, Given many alternatives, please do not succumb to the hype.
Be the first to ReplyPoor overall experience
We had a booking for 7 at the Tse Fung which we were all looking forward as we know the restaurant and like it a lot. Unfortunately our dinner night turned out to be a very bad experience. Service was very poor, it looked like there was no Maître that night and servers were running around like headless chicken. A very long time passed between our starters and main course. When we asked for a taxi to take back the 2 youngsters that were with us, we had to wait for 45 minutes - to be advised that no taxi was replying. Funnily enough when we called from our mobiles, we got one immediately. We had to wait for another 35 minutes to get our second bottle of wine. Wine and/or water was not served when glasses were empty. Food was ok although pecking duck reached our table in medium temperature and pancakes were cold. Due to bad service, no follow up, no taxi etc, we decided to leave after we finished the main course. When we asked for the bill and told the server that we have been unhappy he just replied - Yes I know - no understanding, no apology … nothing. That was one of my favorite restaurants in the city but I will certainly not visit again soon. Definitely not recommended in sunset evenings when probably most staff is on leave.

Dear Tse Fung Team I would like to thank you for making my birthday very memorable, as well as making my visits unforgettable. A big thank you to the Tse Fung Team, especially under the wonderful management of Mr Aniello Rea, as well the Chinese chefs! I look forward to enjoying more Cantonese food in the future as well as your super exceptional service. All my very best wishes for you all. See you soon.

I had a wonderful evening here recently that was remarkable only for the company and, unfortunately, not at all for the food. We were four and all opted for the Emerald Menu (the middle one). CHF 200 per head for lovely conversation and decidedly average food.
There was nothing remarkable in the food. At all. Starters (cucumber salad, spring rolls, assorted average dim sum) contained nothing to pleasantly surprise the palate. Main courses (seabass w ginger, beef basil stir fry, Szechuan chicken), were all average. Just large piles of meat with unassuming sauces. I have a Cantonese friend who is a great cook, so maybe I am spoiled, but she cooks circles around what Franck Xu served us that night.
Decor was dramatic, but very dark. Service was very good, but fell shy of great because it was difficult to understand what we were being served. Definitely not a language issue, but definitely not helped by masked servers.
Good but not great.
Good Chinese food. No serious complaints, but this is not a Michelin star quality restaurant. Food was good quality, but nothing was outstanding, and the service was good but with a few errors. Definitely not worth the price.
