Leo Bogotá Reviews from The Last Year
A beautiful meal to remember
We got the 8-course tasting menu with matching wines on a friend’s recommendation and Leo lived up to the high expectations. First, each dish is so thoughtfully prepared to tell a story of Colombia’s incredibly diverse cultures and regional flavors. So much work goes into the presentation of little details like a tuna “chorizo” covered with something red and crispy, or the “popcorn” crunch on a piece of guinea pig, or the thin piece of rice paper cut into the shape of a stingray to go with a piece of, you guessed it, stingray with a delicious sauce. Or the greens that resembled a necklace encircling cucumber balls floating in a fruit juice. Some tastes were more appealing than others but that’s how it works. And the wines were so creative, too. We enjoyed almost all of them - and they had a backup wine ready for the wine that we felt missed the mark. The service was attentive and they enjoy explaining what makes each morsel unique. I especially loved a dessert with marshmallows made to look like caterpillars in “dirt” made of chocolate shavings. It was such a memorable dinner!
Greatest Meal Ever!
Dined here March 11 with my wife. We had the 12-course dinner with wine/fermented beverage pairings, and the entire experience was amazing. The food was incredible, and each course was more intriguing than the last. The courses are organized around the different regions of Colombia and each one was remarkable at providing context for a region and understanding its people and culture. Some of the dishes are non-traditional for an American palate (e.g. cow udder, guinea pig, three types of ants, a type of caterpillar, stingray, etc), but you should not be put off by any of the ingredients. Everything is well-prepared, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and simply delicious. The courses flew by, but we could have stayed all night. (After dinner we went upstairs to La Sala de Laura for a nightcap because we really didn't want to leave.) The drink pairings were also incredible. The wines were well-paired, but the fermented drinks were standouts, including a locally-made vermouth, a toasted corn coffee, and a mead. Every drink perfectly complemented the food, enhanced its flavor, and provided additional context for the region being sampled. The service and presentation were also flawless. The style of the serving dishes mixed form and function beautifully, and the flatware service for each dish was remarkable. The team of servers handling our table was efficient, unobtrusive, and professional. They were also very cordial in answering any questions we had. (I didn't catch any of their names, unfortunately, but our main server, who was incredibly engaging and informative, mentioned his mother was from Barcelona.) In short, the entire meal was simply amazing from start to finish, and it even exceeded Leo's tremendous reputation. In nearly fifty years of dining around the world, this was the greatest restaurant dining experience I have ever had, and it is one that everyone should experience at least once in a lifetime.
Best meal in Colombia and is not close
Be prepared to shell out $250 per person with 1 drink, if you can afford it is well worth it. The establishment sure feels they are fighting for a Michelin star; all the elements are there: exploding flavors, immaculate presentation, excellent combination of drink flavors with food, top notch service, it pushes edges on food itself. Hands down the best fine food in Colombia and one of the best if not the best in all Latin America.
Not as good as its ratings
The food was generally excellent, although I found that it was too much for a tasting menu. What really upset me, however, was that my duck course was inedible. Given the reputation of this restaurant, and the cost of our dinners, I was shocked at their ignoring what happened when I advised them of the problem. This should not happen in a restaurant with that rating and that reputation. We are foodies and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, and I have never had an experience like this.
Fantastic
Truly one of the best dining experiences in the world. Food was unique and "Colombian" but also very tasty for an American palette. Everything about it was amazing.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
