Fairly disappointed; I am an avid fan of woman chefs and I truly believe in Angie Mar but I have to detail the last experiences. I think as a restaurant that is just starting out and building its name, the team should prioritize cultivating positive relationships with their customers. I visited Angie's restaurant recently and an number of things were not to be served because the chef didn't like the quality of the bird or the quality of the shelfish or whatever excuse, I appreciated her desire to impress but these are things that should be taken care of before the meal not when we already ordered and waited especially when we were the only people dining the whole night we were there. I trusted Angie to prepare a delicacy like the veal brain to perfection but the veal brain came cold and almost a gelatin texture and not creamy like it's supposed to be, also the creme sauce (which was cold as well) around it was over salty and completely tasteless, the frog legs were over cooked and hard and the presentation was confusing and hard to pull apart without messy fingers, and the dungness crab entree was dry and powdery (not flaky) with a random small mound of crab meat in the center that tasted as though it came from the can. I didn't even bother taking the photos after a while because I was thoroughly disappointed. My partner and I tried the caviar because you can't go wrong with caviar and it seems to have been the only thing I enjoyed. Lastly, I have to mention, the friend of mine who recommended the restaurant to me because us two are always on the hunt for impressive woman chefs, came back to the establishment, a few minutes before opening to pick up a set of keys left behind before she and her partner went to Europe for a few months, Angie at first wouldn't let her staff open the door to my friend even tho she managed to get there 10 minutes before opening so she wouldn't interrupt their service that night, mind you, it was freezing rain outside, when she persisted, Angie had someone open the door and Angie rudely asked my friend what she wanted, my friend prefaced with acknowledging Angie and saying it was nice to meet her and before she could finish the sentence Angie shouted that she was interrupting their restaurant. She says she felt like because of her skin she didn't belong there even though she had dined there before. My friend is a beautiful black woman who carries herself with exceptional class so this came as a shock to me and I hate that she had to feel that way. She said she told them she had been trying to reach them about a set of keys left behind but no one answered the phone and Angie stomped over saying there were never any calls made. My friend just wanted to get out at this point and just asked if her keys were there or not. Angie opened a drawer and picked up her keys and dropped them in her hand like a dirty pair of underwear while throwing a petty smile and an eye roll. My friend kept her cool but she was so disappointed and shocked at Angie's rudeness, due to her being a fan previously. Angie's staff literally looked embarrassed at her temper. It was only then that I shared with my friend the more than mediocre experience I had at the restaurant because my friend calling me on the way home from the restaurant was the tipping point. I then decided the rest of the world should know how Angie's poor restaurant experience matches her poor personality. And as I said before I think as a restaurant that is just starting out and building its name, the team should cultivating positive relationships with their customers. I'm so disappointed that everyone here can agree chef Angie is tremendously rude. It makes me sad and the food can't even make up for it.
