A super seafood surprise
After an hour of being stuck in traffic on the 101 North, we decided to get off at Carpenteria and try our luck for dinner without reservation or knowledge of the local food scene. After cruising up and down Linden Ave, we stopped at Domโs, not because of the neon signs or other noisy advertising, there wasnโt any, but because it looked inviting and authentic. We were received in a very friendly way and shown a quiet table, as I have a hearing problem. The food was outstanding. My wife had the dayโs special 3 course menu, which at $25 was an exceptional value. A green salad with an exquisite dressing, a perfect risotto, and home made panacotta. Our daughter enjoyed a generous seafood salad, and I had a perfectly grilled generous piece of seabass. Service was prompt and friendly. Weโll definitely go back next time weโre in the area.
Be the first to ReplyPractically perfect!
Busy Tuesday night supper specials attracted locals on a cold February night. Loved the albacore pastrami (try it!), the squid ink seafood pasta, the $25 bottle of Italian wine, and the lemon icebox pie. Hardly saw the waitress, even when we were looking for her. Room felt festive, and noisy! Picky, picky but the pasta was served in undersized bowls which caused it to clump......big plates would have been much better!

We were happy to find vegan options at this seafood place. The Fish piccata and oyster po boy were delicious. also enjoyed the smoke fish rillettes which we had never had before.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for a nice meal, feels like a local favorite to me.
This place was amazing. The best meal we had on our 5 day trip winding our way between L.A. and San Francisco. My husband had a delicious fresh caught local fish with amazing garlic potatoes, while I was blown away with the fantastic blueberry pancakes, Kir royale and great tea selection. Located on the lovely central walking street of Carpenteria . . . where we were able to wander down to the beach and back to work off those calories. Really nice atmosphereโwish we'd come for dinner the night before. Definitely next time we'll plan that out.

We had lunch outside here one day, liked it so much we had dinner there the next. Have a separate entrance for take out. Have nice healthy options. Great place to sit outside and people watch.
Be the first to ReplyFish Piccata
I love the fish piccata, whether it comes with asparagus or green beans, Service is polite, quick and friendly.
Be the first to Replyappetizers and alcoholic beverages
A great place, especially if you like appetizers and alcoholic beverages. My wife and I have always loved great appetizers and drinks in a nice ambiance, Little Doms is perfect for us. We had seafood tartar (like tuna poke except a European flavor profile and crunchy topping), a smoked seafood rillette (smoked fish pate with extra stuff') with flatbread (killer) , and a Margherita pizza (we added mushrooms) that was one of the best pizza's we ever had. We went during happy hour (3-5) and got an excellent $20 bottle of Italian white wine. If you are vacationing in Carp, this place should be on your radar.
Be the first to ReplyWorse over-priced pizza I've ever had in my life!
Purchased three pizzas from Dom's yesterday. I was shocked at the total cost of about $75! And they weren't even good pizzas, minimal cheese and toppings, and a crust so thin in crumbled in the hand. The arugula was just thrown on top, not chopped. Parts of it were over cooked and burnt. Worse over-priced pizza I've ever had in my life!
Be the first to ReplyNice first visit to Slyโs successor
We were long time patrons of the predecessor restaurant, Slyโs, and finally decided to take the plunge and try Little Domโs. A very good experience. Nice updated tables in the bar area, and just enough din on a holiday Saturday night and good music playing. Very friendly and attentive waitress, and prompt service. The food was tasty and fresh. I like a restaurant that only serves local fish. My wife had the seafood gumbo, which she said was excellent. I had some oystersโoutstandingโand a yellowtail special. Fresh, cooked just right and a good portion of food. Overall, food was very good and healthy. Not inexpensive, but worth what you get. A $35 corkage charge for our bottle of wine, which is a bit hefty but it was worth it considering their sparse wine list is a so-so. Recommended, and we will be back.
Be the first to ReplyPricey and left to be desired.
While sea bass was good and flavorful, the dish was sparse, the fillet, a few green beans..no starch, and a charge for bread.
Be the first to ReplyEven better the second time around
We returned to Dom's for another great experience. We shared an appetizer of chilled creole boiled shrimp (aka shrimp cocktail) and the seasoning and homemade sauce lifted it beyond your run of the mill appetizer.
Next was their gumbo. Being a southern boy who loves New Orleans and my Gulf seafood, I wasn't expecting much. Real servings of gumbo are few and far between.
To be honest, this was one of the best bowls of gumbo that I've had. It wasn't just the crab legs, crawfish, and fresh fish. You could tell how much care was taken in getting the roux just right. This was a first class gumbo.
The only negative, they left the shells on the mudbugs. I hate making a mess while I'm eating. Still, that wasn't enough to detract from the meal.
My companion had a watermelon margarita that was declared unique, refreshing, and delicious. Her halibut sandwich was great, too.
Tasty, and something for everyone in the family
This was our first trip to Carpinteria, and I made a list of restaurants to visit based on reviews of locations on Linden. I had written this place off because the reviews are only four out of five stars, but we happened to walk by them one night and noticed the fresh oysters, which is a favorite for my husband and I. We decided to give them a try tonight, and we were really happy we did! All the food was very fresh, tasty, and great ambience. What was the most amazing was the customer service, I felt like we were getting checked on every five minutes!! We had one main server, but several different people brought out our food, and another waitress in the nearby area kept checking on us as well. Everyone was very friendly and helpful!! Overall this was a great experience and exactly what we were looking for. * Fair warning though, the food is a little pricey for the amount you get, but we thought it was really worth it. Just make sure to plan for it!
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced mediocre food
We were looking forward to try this relatively recent arrival (the pandemic delayed things), but we were disappointed. The food was OK, mediocre at best, but very overpriced for what it was.
However, the service was outstanding.
Delicious Food.....a little sanding off needed around the hard edges.......but get the rice balls!
The good: order the pizza as an accompaniment to seafood, the fresh oysters are great, the rice balls are fantastic, fresh fish!
Suggestions: Don't make your reservation online. Call them. I've eaten here five times now and four times there was an issue immediately upon entry. (We don't open until 11 and we'll let you figure out when that is, we have you for outside -I requested indoor-..online changes don't seem to be received, etc. Be ready to be told just how long you have for your table. We've never needed more time but it's a little off putting to be greeted with limitations.
Feedback: that first greeting is as important as the food and I can't say I've ever had a good one.
We had a fabulous meal but there's still a disconnect between the great food and the welcome. Do I feel like I can drop in for some mussels and fries and a good drink at the seaside....not yet but getting closer.....
Delicious
We were greeted by a nice art deco interior and friend faces. We watched the bartender, he was really good at this job and meticulously cleaned between orders.
My companion is picky, but deemed her halibut piccata to be perfect. Served with delicious asparagus (she loves asparagus). I had a cast iron seared halibut sandwich that was fantastic. I almost ate the fish separately it was so good but the sandwich was just right. Soft bread, pickled tomatoes, aioli... delicious. Even the fried potatoes were good.
They had a small but nice beer selection and great cocktails.
The are pricy, but to be honest we paid just as much recently for a meal at a local barbecue joint and the prices aren't out of line for the area.
Good Fish and Chicken Sandwiches: We Liked Little Dom
We love Carp and needed to get out of the house. We felt welcomed at Dom's by their friendly service. We tried a couple of sandwich options and we enjoyed them. Healthy portions and reasonable prices. The COVID-friendly seating was well spaced with a nice breeze.
Be the first to ReplyWarm summer evening dining al fresco
Ambiance: sidewalk dining during COVID-19. Warm summer evening very pleasant
Service: good but our entree did not come out together. We asked to return the first one to keep till the other was ready.
Food: Roasted fish - halibut and fish piccata both very good. Both came with a veggie but we also order fried potatoes as well as the carrots as sides. Very good. Also homemade sorbet/ice cream for dessert. Yum!
