Lolita 253 Summer St Boston, MA 02210 United States Boston Reviews from The Last Year
Food and drinks were excellent.
However we told the host that we wanted the cotton candy dessert. He seated us outside. We had a full meal and drinks. THEN was told we couldn't have cotton candy outside. So we went inside for another drink and dessert. The boy with the pierced tongue refused to seat us because we just ate outside. We explained why we came...the cotton candy. He still refuses to seat us. Worst experience ever!
The food is always really good! I wanted to give 5 stars
The food is always really good! I wanted to give 5 stars just for the food and the ambiance. But the service is going downhill. I've been to Lolita at least 5 times, and I've realized that I've been racially discriminated 3 times. I've requested for a birthday special which I did get once and that's all. People around me have gotten a birthday special but not me. It was really upsetting when it was my mom's birthday and I wanted to make it really special for her since my parents had come from India.the server didn't clear our table before bringing in the check which is something they usually do coz I've been there before and I could see other tables. I'm just really upset that I've been living here for 2.5 years and I've gone to this place so many times and majority of the times I can see the difference in service just because I'm brown.
Location is great, our server was awesome.
They greet you with a drink/ sorbet concoction that was so refreshing and the dry ice effect was everything. The food was flavor and delicious!! I would def go again next time I'm in the Boston area!
The food was good but the service was so bad.
It took so long to get our server's attention during the times we wanted to put orders in. She barely checked in on us. There were several moments where there were no servers to be seen. One of the hostesses had even noticed I was trying to get a server's attention and simply looked at me and walked past. I would not come back.

Lolita's customer service is absolutely terrible and their staff is extremely unprofessional. I booked a large party here of 15 guests for my birthday and unfortunately woke up extremely sick with covid and had to cancel. I wanted to make sure I cancelled before their 12 hour policy so I wasn't charged and as a courtesy of course. I sent them over a message & also had both of my sisters call in upon opening time to make sure they received it so they were aware. The hostess never answered any of the multiple calls - and their voicemail was full. We also sent over multiple emails and "chats" on their text service and also no answer. We finally got a hold of the host stand (9 hours later) by luck and they replied "we always answer the phone and someone is always here" & for some reason didn't believe us that we reached out and asked us to send screenshots for proof. Imagine?? So we did. & no answer. and I was still charged $150 dollars. Another day went by and Ben finally replied to one of our emails that he issued a refund. Next day - my pending charge was posted. No refund was issued. I sent a follow up email to Ben, where Melissa replied - "it would be beneficial for you to be a little more patient". I've worked in hospitality for 15 years and would never reply to a guest like that. Especially one who had been charged wrongfully on their companies end. Day 3 - still no refund. I cant believe what a hassle it has been and what I've had to deal with while also being extremely sick. All it had to take was when they FINALLY* answered their phone to look into their call log and see how may times we called, or just simply check their emails/messages. Instead they had us do all of this extra work only for them to respond to us like we're the problem. The staff and customer service can make or break a restaurant and unfortunately, their staff is terrible.

We had the worst experience at the Summer St location with the unbelievably rude and unfriendly hostesses. We had a reservation for 2 but ended up having a 3rd person join us for dinner. When I went to ask to change our table (we were at a 2 seater table), the hostesses said they did not have a table and would not move us. I indicated we were giving up our table. I told them they were rude and went back to the table and our 3rd guest pulled up a chair. The manager came over and took the chair from our guest, again so rude! She came back a few minutes later and moved us to a larger table to accommodate us. I won't go back there again. The hostesses and manager should not work in the restaurant business or any business that is customer service focused. 1 star!

This place was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Boston. I'm definitely glad that we tried it, however, I cannot say it was the best thing I've ever had. When I walked in, the place was pretty empty, and I was questioned about a reservation. When I said, I didn't have one, The hostess seem to be a little irritated. Nonetheless, we were seated, and we did receive service promptly. We ended up just ordering two appetizers and sharing, along with two drakes. I had the tequila drink, and my friend had the blackberry sangria, and both were very good.the app is amazing, and it's unlike any other Mexican restaurant that I have been to. The service was OK, nothing to write about.

Amazing! The restaurant is dimly lit with red lights, which definitely sets the mood and ambiance. The drinks and food were fantastic. We also got dessert and were pleasantly surprised when they brought us complimentary cotton candy. I'd strongly recommend to anyone in Boston.
I have been to Lolita's countless times over the years.
I love Lolita's, but unfortunately feel like they are very inconsistent when comparing their lunch and dinner services. Surprisingly, their lunch is far better than their dinner! During the summer, I love sitting on Lolita's wonderful patio outside on the water. Their lunch menu has a great variety of appetizers, salads, tortas, and rice bowls. Everything we have ever gotten for lunch has been a 10/10 in terms of service, freshness and flavor. My favorites are the rice bowl with chicken tinga, and their queso! Also - some of the best margaritas around!! Unfortunately, all of my dinner experiences at Lolita's have been very poor. If rating on dinner alone, I would give around a 2/5 star rating. The dinner has been so consistently poor that I no longer go there during their dinner hours! The restaurant is packed for dinner, which may be why the quality and service declines so much. My food has always been either cold, soggy or thrown together fast. Their dinner menu also is missing all their best items, like the tortas and the rice bowls!! The service quality also drops drastically - it is always such a struggle to find your server when you need something. I love their lunch offerings so much, that I will continue to come back! Unfortunately, I don't think I will ever return for dinner. Parking is typical street parking for Boston, and can sometimes be difficult to find. Also, if you go on the weekends... keep in mind they substitute their typical lunch with brunch all day long!
Need to make sure you have a reservation.
This place gets packed on weekends often but food is over good, music is great. I'm not the fan of the service as it's random for when they serve the food but I assume thats to help speed up the work load. Sometimes they can take a bit on getting you things but not too bad
Jaime was awesome.
Service was quick, especially for a busy Friday night. "Queso fundido" is a must to start. Fun atmosphere.

Food - a bit better than meh; cute gimmicks, such as complimentary frozen tequila slush palate cleanser at outset, and a cute cotton candy treat for the table at finish; good churros for dessert Drinks - a JOKE of a thimble-full of house pinot noir looked even more ridiculous in an over-sized, stemless wine glass, to the tune of $16/pop: C'mon! That was the beginning of the end for me, before any food even arrived, and not counting the EXTREME noise (see below) Service - quite good, except they never brought the double espressos we ordered with dessert Ambiance - GORGEOUS setting in historic waterfront building is COMPLETELY undermined by horribly and unnecessarily loud, horrible, extremely annoying (nails on the chalkboard) techno music On a scale of 1 - 5, I am hard-pressed to offer a 2.5 - and that is being generous. I would not go back. I would rather eat at Chili's.

I love this location and honestly think I prefer it to the back bay one. My service is always faster and honestly I think the food is a little bit better too. They have a great outdoor area for seating as well. I love the mushroom quesadilla, and the inner cotton candy is always a win. The queso has also been a new favorite for me. I definitely recommend for a date night or a get together dinner with friends. I'd just stay away from the churros
Wow. Is this place real?
Ducked in here to get away from the Amtrak waiting area and holy cow. I have never been in a more beautiful restaurant. Upscale interpretation of Mexican food. Not a rice and beans joint. Beautiful bar drinks and beautiful servers. I cant describe the room go and see it.
Front desk staff need bias training
I made a reservation for a party of 3. I arrived on time but the other two members were finding parking. The hostess refused to seat me till the other members arrived and made me stand in the reception area till the rest of the members arrived. However, she went ahead and seated every other party that partially arrived offering that option upfront. I am unsure why I was treated with hostility. She completely refused to look at me and acknowledge my presence despite that I was the only member waiting in the reception area. Then when my fellow party members arrived and asked her why I was kept waiting at the reception without being seated despite having a reservation and being on time, she pretended not to know what they were talking about. I really think the restaurant needs to evaluate their reception staff and educate them about treating all type of guests appropriately and ensure bias training for them.
Cool Ambiance, Elevated Mexican Food with a Twist
A large group (17) of my colleagues had dinner at Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar during a conference at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. It is less than a mile away, and the walk was refreshing. The ambiance was superb and the food was delicious. We shared several appetizers and each had adult beverages and an entree. Mine was the blackened Mahi-Mahi Tacos. The Cotton Candy after dinner treat was beloved by many. We had a great time. The final tab, including tip was $920, so not bad. My one piece of advice is to bring a light with you in the bathroom because it is a bit dark.
Wednesday night Tacos
Here it is… go here! We sat at the bar and enjoyed great cocktails and appetizers. Our Tacos Al Pastor were excellent! They have a mess of tequilas and mezcals to rival anything out there. The place is wild; inside and out. Our server/bartender was friendly & professional. Again, go here!
Absolutely Amazing
Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere! The gothic theme is amazing and is consistent throughout.
Service - terrible; Taste - Great; Portions - small; Ambience - good; Check - reasonable
We had long been meaning to come to this place and finally made it for a birthday dinner last night. Let's start at the start - the place does not show up properly in all maps and since it is a walk along the river, there is no easy way to get a car near it, so perhaps those directions need to be clearer. Having said that, the walk on a covered walkway from the bridge along the river to the restaurant is pleasant. The doors are old style, large framed. The place does look a lot darker than you can imagine or are led to believe. ID got checked at the door - not sure why - we had not ordered any drinks yet. But it was a pleasant interaction even with some banter. The front desk got us a table earlier than the one we had booked, it was also a Monday night. We were seated on a table and I noticed they were very close together. We are all "normal" sized adults and we had to squeeze and excuse our way into the other side of the table from both sides. They are also really close to the "bench" side, so you have to sit down and slide along. Our table had the missing "skull and roses" while all other tables had them. Since we wanted that iconic representation on our table too, for photos (it was a birthday dinner!), we made the mistake of asking our server. Her answer was "someone stole it from this table and hence we do not have it". There were several tables empty around the restaurant and I am sure they do not have the exact number of these as tables! This should have been our clue that the service was going to be shoddy. The menu is good, we had an ample variety for our various dietary needs. The flourish in the beginning with the palate cleanser (a smoking bowl of grapefruit slushie with a topping of some Agave liquer) was visually good and tasty. We knew the portions were small and we are not huge eaters, so we ordered enough for ourselves. Everything was tasty, portions were small - not much to say about that. Service? The server did not once come to check on us, nor offer us any water topup, walking by plenty of times and coming to the tables next to us several times (but turned away from us). So getting the attention in the noisy place was near impossible unless I stood up or shouted or stuck out a leg or something. We had to ask different people for water twice in the time we were there. The check came in, was pleasantly reasonable - probably because we did not order any drinks this time. The check came after ages and no one came to pick it up for ages too. The candy floss that comes at the end was topped with a candle in it (!!!!!) for birthday. Our neighbouring table got a little cupcake with a candle for the two women who were clearly celebrating a similar event. What can you do? All in all, if any management is ever reading this, get more pleasant people and improve the service. You seem to have plenty of feedback saying so. Go to your local retail grocery shop or a cafe and you will get better service than this place.
Terrible
Terrible restaurant! The service is awful and the food is mediocre. The 2 hosts and the waitress were rude, racist and very unprofessional with my family. I’ll never come back to this place.
Get some interpersonal skills
We travelled all the way from the UK bought a couple of drinks and sat down. The front of house (on the phone when we arrived) proceeded to ask us to return to the front desk with our drinks and told that the tables were for diners only. Only one table was occupied at the time. Unnecessary rudeness considering we may have made a rookie error. The person in particular should review their attitude.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
