Can we ban photos in the Water Lilies room?
It is a lovely gallery. I have been before so I know the collections are great. I pre booked my ticket on the weekend before and then a nationwide strike was announced. Frustratingly this meant one of my favourite parts of the museum was closed. I understand the strike made it difficult to manage but I think if youโd bought your ticket before the strike was announced, there should be an option to change your day. I have written to the museum to suggest this. The Matisse exhibition was interesting and I love the water lilies. I think they are brilliantly presented. The problem is all the photographers. I donโt worry about walking in front of them because itโs an art gallery. Youโre there to see art. However I did find it necessary to point out to someone that the painting was behind them which they wouldnโt have noticed because they were too busy posing for photos in front of the pieces. It says to enjoy in silence. I think we need to enjoy it without photos too.
Be the first to ReplyStunning museum, Monet's Water Lillies is worth admission alone.
Had a wonderful experience here. Monet's Water Lillies is gorgeous, I spent a half an hour in there. People tend to congregate in the first room but there is a second room of Water Lillies as well. The only disappointing thing is that the signs say Monet wanted it to be a quiet space for reflection, so they encourage guests to be silent, but everyone is constantly talking very loudly in the space. In other exhibits in the museum, security guards will shush you, which I actually liked. The other exhibits are really enjoyable as well. Huge Matisse collection there (temporary exhibit) and other expressionism / impressionism works. One thing - they will not let you in a half an hour early from your ticket like the Louvre will. They let you in exactly at your ticket time, and you may have to line up for a while if you get there too early.

Very nice place. We thought that the light in the room with Monet's paintings was quite bad and didn't gave the full brightness and the perspective of the artwork. We managed to see the full perspective through the camera!

Each time I visit Paris I try to have time for a visit to Monet's glorious water lilies. He originally wanted these huge paintings to be displayed so that they would bring a spirit of peace and tranquillity to the people of Paris who had gone through the trauma of the First World War. They still bring that feeling of peace as long as one is not too distracted by the other viewers who insist on talking endless 'selfies' in front of the paintings.

The Orangerie Museum is a wonderful art museum located in the heart of Paris. As an art lover, I was thoroughly impressed by the museum's collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, including Monet's famous Water Lilies series. The galleries are well-curated and provide a peaceful atmosphere to enjoy the stunning works of art. The museum is relatively small, making it easy to navigate and appreciate all the pieces on display. The location in the beautiful Tuileries Garden adds to the charm of the museum and makes it a great stop on a day of sightseeing in Paris. Overall, the Orangerie Museum is a must-visit destination for any lover of Impressionist art or anyone looking for a peaceful and culturally enriching experience in Paris.
