Don't even think about it. Food poisoning. See all the negative reviews on Yelp. Terrible restaurant. Consistently bad.
Be the first to ReplySimply excellent
This restaurant has turned into a true destination eatery. The food has now reached a world-class level under a lauded chef, and the surrounding landscape is nothing short of magnificent. An extremely well-curated wine list, and friendly, professional service, top to bottom, make this place well worth a trip!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent for Private Dining Event
Superb service! Impressive Food! Deflated wallet, but it was totally worth it! Thanks to Dawn Bancroft, our private dining coordinator. Dawn was VERY patient and worked with me through all my slow demands. I had several changes and questions throughout the planning. She got everything sorted out for me even the day before. Thank you once again Dawn and thank you for welcoming Cashew with her own station. Felt valued and welcomed right when we walked in. A staff in a suit came up and guided us to our private dining room without asking who we were. We knew we're in the right hands and the whole meal went this way. Thanks to Yolanda, our friendly and dedicated waitress. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and the photos she took for us were so good that we printed them out. My dad made a comment that this is one of those lunches he can only have a few times in his life and ate almost everything. :*)

We used to come regularly pre-covid and it was a hospitable high quality restaurant. Now it is just an artificially expensive restaurant for snobs. One small serving of bread is 8 dollars and the desserts at 14-16-18 dollars were not close to the quality one would expect. The olive cake was much too dense. The service was disagreeable, the only thing the waiters rushed to do was fill the glasses of water. We were so disappointed with the food that was bland and not prepared carefully, this restaurant has lost all its lustre and I expect it will also lose its star soon.
Be the first to ReplyNot Sure What Has Happened at Dinner Service Not even Close to a Michelin
Madera has been around a long time, always a solid "nice" restaurant. We had dinner there recently and it was a total loser. To even have the word Michelin on their website is so far from what they are producing there. NOTHING - and I mean nothing about our experience would tick a section of a michelin restaurant the staff, the experience and mostly the food. Before I start I will also say I have had breakfast there recently and it was really good - in all the ways it is failing at dinner. Why we plan to never eat at Madera again. 1) Service was almost non existant. 3 people offered us water and then we had to literally flag down a waiter to order dinner. this went on - the lag between our appetizers and dinner was almost 40 mint. So between ordering and dinner about an HOUR. When we ordered they said lamb chops would take 25 minutes - well try over double that. 2) the food itself - just so average. This was a table of three and we all felt that way. Appetizers - the Kampachi, came warm - a bad start, sliced too thick and then almost no sauce or citrus juice as described. Over half was left on our table of a small portion - wait staff Never asked why - another sign of clueless servce . The burrata came in a small bowl - with 4 Tiny pieces of peach, and drizzled with a good sauce - but that was it - so four bites and then a huge thing of burrata - what is going on - should have had plenty of peach etc - no other item with - so unless you decided to buy bread (yes buy at a "first class" restaurant - you had a ball of cheese left in the bowl - again -weird. Would have been good if had been close to some of the descriptions. the avacado appetizer was very good - again - should have had some kind of accoutrment - no toast etc with any of the three appetizers - These appetizers were $25 each. The main courses which took SO LONG to come - finally someone from management comes over to apologize for the wait - but that was it - nothing else. They FINALLY bring it and say something about the grill not working -Well our lamb chops were TOTALLY over coked to well done - I believe they were close to $100 and ruined - they tried to cover up with gremolata - I think because they knew. No one came by and asked how our meal was or asked on our way out - my guess is they were having real problems and they knew it. It was a Friday night and I would say at least half the tables were empty - there seemed to be staff everywhere but management (a lot of people in suits ) but NO ONE managing. If you knew a table had waited that long - wouldn't you a) come over and explain b) bring some kind additional tasting course c) check in when it finally arrived - WRONG - or All of the above. The steak was fine but nothing special. the meal was about $500 and there were 4 glasses of wine no cocktails - so alot of money for a meal that I could have had for half of that. It was just average. So many good restaurants in Palo Alto - do not waste your time here. Evvia, Village Pub, adn Nobu just to name a very few. truly disappionting - not worthy of the hotel which is quite good.
Be the first to ReplyFine Lunch
We had a great lunch here with a good friend. The ambience was very good. Clearly this is a place lots of locals like to meet. The view was excellent and the decor was as well. I thought the food was very good if overpriced. My only complaint was the extremely slow service. Our waiter was nice enough but hard to understand through his mask and it took forever to get our food. Luckily we liked the company!
Be the first to ReplyMarvelous Meal at Madera
Visiting Palo Alto and had a wonderful meal at the Michelin starred Madera with some friends. Nestled in the Rosehill resort, itโs vaulted ceiling and cosy atmosphere works wonders to chase the Covid blues away.
I ordered the set dinner menu, starting with a burrata and featuring a beautifully done tenderloin. Finishing off with an amazing lava cake with a dollop of salted caramel ice cream. Yummy!
A must visit if youโre in the neighbourhood!
Top tip: great value Michelin star meal - enjoy! :)
Great ambiance for business
Definitely a place where people meet for business over lunch. Itโs nice to sit out in the patio when itโs warm, and the indoor setting is nice too.
I find that their lunch menu is very limited, and while it all tastes good, I donโt understand the hype.
Good service, terrible food
We dined here before a show in SF. The Bloody Mary was the worst any of us had ever had and the lobster Benedict was subpar. It was an expensive dish with very little lobster to be found. Our waiter was charming but he was the only reason this wasnโt a one star rating.
Be the first to ReplyDonโt go, itโs soulless, and overpriced with very unhappy help.
While we were there our waiter vacillated between ignoring us and complaining about his job, the food was fine but was terribly delayed because the waiters and chefs were whisper arguing in front of the open kitchen about the orders. There were mystery add on charges to the bill such as a 5% cost of living tax that no other restaurant is Palo Alto adds on, The dessert cheese plate had the stingiest pieces of cheese I have ever witnessed. I was told by the waiter that help us so hard to come by that they bring in a โcook for a dayโ temp agency style. It is a soulless restaurant with exorbitant pricing. Avoid at all cost.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome!
I only do the selective reviews and this is one of them. Good service and worth the price. My buddy was staying in this hotel and he invited me for drinks/dinner. Bit expensive but surely worth it. My buddy ordered the steak (medium) and I ordered Salmon. They were both perfect. They have kind of set menu with three items (section of salad, followed by main, and then finish with a dessert. Nothing special about dessert, I am not a big fan anyway. Good selection of wine and Scotch as well. Very nice ambience.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect for a dinner date
I went there for a dinner date. The staff was amazing. Keeping an eye on us making sure that we have the best experience while dining at their establishment. The food tasted very good so did the cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyNice ambiance and good service but a bit pricey
Had lunch. Bread and Butter always delicious used to be free but now $8. Burrata Salad and Pita with Humus. For entrees I had the chicken sandwich . Not as good as chik fil a. This place is pricey and servings are stingy
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelmed for a Michelin star restaurant
I was expecting more of a Michelin star restaurant. We came here for our anniversary dinner on Saturday night. The tables inside were at least 6 feet apart so that put me at ease. Our server Tomas was very nice and attentive. I would give him 5 stars! The food was underwhelming for a Michelin star restaurant. I ordered the artichoke dip which included 4 wedges of flat bread. A bit meh on the flavor, but to pay $14 for that was disappointing. My wife ordered the Gazpacho soup which was a bit sour and not really that flavorful. She ordered the king salmon which was cooked perfectly. I ordered the cauliflower bowl with a skirt steak that had a nice smokey flavor but the cauliflower bowl was nothing to write home about. For dessert my wife ordered the chocolate sorbet which was served in a paper carton. Flavor was not bad, but not worth $12! I had the pluot crumble which was tasty but a bit heavy on the bourbon for my taste.
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch spot
This is very high end eatery. The lunch selections are modest in number but very well done. The service is excellent and the ambiance is perfect. Quiet and respectful. This is an expensive restaurant probably best managed on an expense account.
