Jessica should NOT be in hospitality.
Never had anyone speak to me ruder in my life. This restaurant tricked us into booking a $10 tasting menu (it said online we had booked it and it said 10 people received it only) then they call and say "woops actually we gave that $10 menu table to someone else and were still gonna charge you $230 a person if you don't come" WILDLY misleading and crazy lies. This place will absolutely not succeed in la longterm and that's a fact.

Celebrated a birthday here, and this Jessica lady wearing a bright pink suit had the audacity to raise her voice at my wife during one of the last few courses because the bread plate was out of place. Out of all my restaurant experiences varying from basic to three star Michelin restaurants, never has someone raised their voice at us. Someone needs to educate her on customer service. Didn't offer an apology at all. Really ruined the experience. Rest of the staff did a decent job at serving. I would never return to any Curtis Stone restaurant due to this poor experience.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, extremely professional service.
We really enjoyed the different cuisines that the chef blended together.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely loved this intimate dining experience at Maude!
Absolutely loved this intimate dining experience at Maude! Once settling into the seat, they offered two wine pairing options, and one NA wine pairing. They also do wine, beer, NA beverages by the glass too. My husband chose the classic wine pairing, and I went with the NA ones from NON.world made in Australia (I was really glad I did NA wine pairing. I didn't know about this brand before but highly recommend after I tried several different flavors. Very tasty and great wine alternative options) Then we started this nine-course meal journey. From the snacks to main courses to desserts, we were amazed by the creative concept, fresh local produce, different layers of textures/flavors, and hidden surprises. They paired with the drinks very well! After we finished all the savory dishes, we were guided to a separate space - their wine loft where they have over 3,000 vintage bottles of wine. There were a few different dishes for the dessert course. Each of them was very creative and beautifully plated. It was a lovely surprise and perfect note to end our meal on.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and loved everything about Maude, from the service to the ambiance. Every dish was amazing and my only "complaint" is that I was beyond full by the end! For dessert they take you upstairs to a more lounge like wine room. It's pricey, but worth the splurge for a celebration or romantic dinner!

Solid place, loved the intimate 24-people seating: small and intimate. Food was adventurous and beautiful. Service was quite attentive but had a few misses: notified them in advance that I minimize gluten but no effort was put it to customize any of the menu or note the heavy gluten items. Eg the full bread (as one appetizer) was shared with us and for the 1star Michelin, I would have expected them to serve me something else that's not full gluten (eg give me carrot sticks, just as a touch!). It was also our friend's birthday and I asked them ahead of time to put a candle in our dessert but they never did! I one pairing was only sub par- I would not recommend it for the price you pay and instead suggest to pick by the glass (3 out of the pairing were really not great). Am I happy I came? Absolutely! Would I recommend : go back- no.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite Michelin starred restaurants to date.
The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and I really like how their desserts are served upstairs in their wine room. A totally awesome experience!
Be the first to ReplyImpeccable anniversary dinner vibes.
I enjoyed the gorgeous interior as well as the surprise location change midway through the meal. (Just trust me; it's uncommon but it was so surprising & moody!) Service was almost French brigade. The food was equally incredible. Loved.
Be the first to ReplyDined here in summer 2022.
The restaurant is nice inside and service was good. The abalone and pasta dishes were excellent. Unfortunately, everything else was just ok or really bland. For dessert you go to another room, and again everything tasted blah.

9/23/2023 Sat 1* Michelin If this was not meant to be I don't know what is. I meant to book Maude for my LA trip but I slacked and by the time I remembered it was fully booked on the day that I wanted to go so I put us on waitlist. I didn't have high hope that there will be any availability but a slot opened up for the perfect time at 5:30pm. so I immediately grabbed it. We were the first party to arrive and Jean-francois greeted us and took us to our table. I double checked with JF if the counter is available but he confirmed it wasn't. Bummer as I always liked to observe each line cook meticulously prepare each dish. As soon as we sat down and ordered our drinks, the servers placed the amuse bouche in front of us. I believe it's a cut of watermelon with sprinkles of chili powder. It's a light and refreshing bite to start the meal. 0) Amuse Bouche - watermelon bite 1a) Snack - Raspberry Wasabi cracker 1b) Snack - Trout Pai Tee, a roe tart with hamachi filling 1c) Snack - Eggplant Bao, eggplant stuffed fried ball 2) Squash and Caviar (Burpee and black beauty squash, grilled little gem lettuce top with caviar, green mole) - super fresh vegetables and I like the smokiness of the caviar, perhaps it's the green mole sauce. 3) Santa Barbara Spot Prawn (Lacto-Green strawberry, sun gold tomato, aguachile rojo) - least of my favorite course, broth too sour and spicy for me. Bummer I left behind most of the broth. The prawn shaped cracker was good though, tasted all the essence of the prawn, almost like a concentrated prawn bisque but in a cracker form. Wish the broth is a prawn bisque instead of the sour and spicy broth. 4) Abalone & Rice (sliced abalone on crispy rice and oyster infused dashi broth) - Flavor was well done especially the broth which was an umami bomb. The abalone IMO sliced too thin so can't tasted much of it. The crispy rice cake was my favorite part of the dish as it soaked up the broth reminded me of the Japanese chazuke dish. 5) Mendoza Family Farm Corn (bicolored corn, egg yolk, poblano) - reading on Yelp, seems like this dish replaced the pasta dish. This was one of my favorites, creamy and tasty. 6a) House Made Bread and Butter - different kind of bread roll this time. Almost like a Hawaiian sweet roll taste. The cultured butter was just as delicious and how I remembered from last time. 6b) Black Cod (leeks, peas, miso beurre blanc) - like last time, the waitress told us to save a piece of bread for the cod. This time the black cod came almost immediately after they served the bread and butter. The waitress told me they timed it that way so the bread wasn't consumed all before the next dish arrives. Loved the black cod. Seems they sous v'd the fish so it's super tender. Love they wrapped the fish with seaweed. Once again I soaked up all the goodness on the plate, the miso white butter sauce was delectable. 7) Wolf Ranch Quail (Maui Onion, Soubise, Achiote Sauce) - super tender and flavorful quail, another favorite of mine 8) Point Reyes Blue Cheese (buñuelo, macadamia nuts, honey) - this is the same kind of Chinese cookie I was just researching for the mould to make at home! Chef Osiel added a twist to the mexican cookie with blue cheese stuffed to the underside of the cookie. So good I can eat a dozen of it! 9a) Dessert - K&K Ranch Red Flame Grapes (hibiscus ice, chocolate mint, fennel pollen) sorbet almost like a palette cleanser 9b) Dessert - Coleman Family Farms Thai Basil (Thai basil ice cream, peaches, ginger sabayon, brown butter crumble) 9c) Dessert - McGrath Family Farm Strawberries (Gaviota strawberries, poached rhubarb, vanilla cream, native bay leaf) 10) Mignardises - macarons, chocolate bon bon, cream puffs, sugar coated goose berries Another great meal at Maude, superior wait service, esp. Jean-Francois who made us feel welcomed. After dessert we went back to the main dining room to pick up our coat only to realize it was left upstairs. Jean-Francois told us to stay put downstairs and he ran back upstairs to get our jacket, showing the level of service equivalent to a 3 star michelin. Although I preferred the menu from last year, other than the spot prawn course did t catered to my taste this year, all the dishes we tried this time were still on point and delightful. I'd like to try another round of new dishes if I go back to LA again!

Be the first to ReplyI really wish we could Maude more than 5 stars.
Everything about this intimate restaurant is exceptional. The food, the service, the sommelier (with perfect pairings), the wine library ,,,, need I go on? Thanks again for another wonderful evening and a memorable birthday celebration.
Be the first to ReplyThat was just an amazing range of taste.
My palate was on all sides of the spectrum. Great presentation, recommend adding the wine pairing (flight?). Cant wait to try the next menu.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance: love the deco here, laid back but classy.
We sat at the chefs counter and it was super cool to see all the plating being done. They bring you to a separate room for dessert and wow, it's like a speakeasy. Dessert is served in a wine cellar and the vibe is fantastic for a romantic date night. Fantastic service - loved the understanding waiters (I mentioned I didn't like goat cheese, they told me the last course is 100% cow cheese BUT tastes similar to goat - said to give it a shot but warned i may not like it. Thought the headsup was really nice, and I did end up not liking it but the staff was super understanding and a good sport!) Food: Omg one of the best menu's I've had thus far. I loved soooo many dishes - flavors and ingredients were interesting and innovative. Here are some highlights. Iberico ham with beans [5/5]: I forget what kind of beans they were but wow. This simple looking dish was AMAZING. The beans had a little kick to them, and were soft but not mushy. Iberico ham's saltiness balanced it out well. Loved every bite of this!! Cactus apple jalapeño dish [5/5]: this is the dish that was plated like flowers. Ugh i really wish I remembered the ingredients in all of these courses bc they're exquisite. But this was sooo unique. The jalapeño soup had a great spicy tangy taste, the apple's sweetness paired so well with the spicy. And the cactus added a great crunch and freshness to every bite. Pumpkin spice [5/5]: truly tasted like fall, and an elevated PSL. Loved the creaminess of the dessert and the I believe were sesame cracker toppings added a nice fragrant crunch. I cannot emphasize how much I recommend this restaurant. Great value for pricing, fantastic service, so many lovely surprises along the way, and the little treat they give you to take home was also *chef's kiss*
Be the first to ReplyDid you know about the secret room? I didn't until we went
Did you know about the secret room? I didn't until we went up for dessert and coffee.. Maude.. A Chef Curtis Stone restaurant is what you'd expect it to be. Quaint, quiet, proper and detailed. The menu at Maude is a tasting course of about 13 courses that includes a few courses of dessert, the most important meal of the day. From the outside, you wouldn't expect this restaurant to be a one star Michelin. Inside, the restaurant is narrow and only seats a handful of patrons. The tones of navy blue, white subway tile and dark wood rails and stiles and dim lighting give for a Londonesque romantic feeling. Each of the 13 courses are a bit tough to describe so I'll focus on a few of the memorable ones. Potato requeson caviar: Swirly type potato with a ricotta filling topped with caviar is the dream of anyone's who loves savory. Nopales, Jicama, Avocado: This dish took on the Xmas theme. Perfectly sliced diamond cut nopales, jicama and avocado swimming in aguachile. This dish should of been in a museum. Pescado zarandeado: Out of Bon Appetite. I don't recall the fish, but it was perfectly grilled and cut rectangular. The detail of the carrot, radish salsa is unreal. Abalone: Served with farm beans, clams and ham hock swimming in a creme broth. We saved our bread and butter course to dip the bread in this delicious broth. Duck: Perfectly prepared. Crispy skin exterior, tender duck meat. Seve with an apple like macerate side, mole, and huitlacoche (corn mushroom).Once we were finished with dinner, they escorted us out of the restaurant to the building next door, a random office building, and up the stairs to a random office, "secret room".Inside this room, was the dessert room with dessert chefs inside. This room is used to prepare and serve the dessert courses. This room is surrounded by bottles of wine, cozy chairs and tables and a piano. It's cold in this room, so on each seat, there's a blanket to use. We had 4 dessert courses here. The most memorable one was the Black Forest. Definitely different. It's a beet type gelato with creme fraiche, dill, stout Namelaka, ryle tuile. Don't ask because I don't know these ingredients but very unique. More savory and slightly sweet. Very different and memorable. The coffee here was good too. Sourced from Cafe Luxx in SM which i researched days later to find, their coffee is highly rated. Service here is what you'd expect at restaurant like this. Very attentive, accommodating, and understanding of the detail of each dish. If you can appreciate food as an art and detail with cutting skills, placement, and plating, and flavors, Maude is a must. A great experience.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent and unforgettable culinary experience.
The seating area is very cozy and next to the kitchen. The service was so attentive and engagingly After the main meal you move to the second floor for desserts. Very relaxing atmosphere where you can see the dessert chef at work. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Last night for New Year's Eve we had one of the most delicious tasting menus at Maude. Each dish was so unique and paired perfectly with our reserve wine pairing. The mood was relaxed and the service was very attentive. We didn't want to ruin our experience by taking pictures of the food but each item was just gorgeous! We will be back next year.
Be the first to ReplyNext level dining.
The pricing: almost offensive, The service: highest level. The atmosphere: French monarch, the food: a feast for the senses. A nine course tasting menu that is truly unique. The combination of flavors is outstanding and unlike any other restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyI wish I could give Maude more than 5 stars.
Let's start with the service throughout the night. Everyone works as a team. Everthing is perfectly paced. From the greeting to the desert in the wine cellar the staff could not have been more professional, kind and more knowledgeable about the wine and food. Now on to the food. The presentation, texture, and taste of each of the 13 courses was exceptional. Each different and well thought out. My oldest son is the executive chef at UCLA so I know great dining and this was it. Without a doubt the finest Los Angeles has to offer. Week night is preferred as the restaurant is quaint and small so you can get a great slow paced dream meal. My favorites were the Duck and the oyster dish. UNBELIEVABLE. Foodies this is heaven.Steven Tyre CPA
Be the first to ReplyWhere do I start?! Service and food were both exceptional.
9 courses for $215pp. When we booked our reservation though it was still listed as $195pp, so just a heads up. With dessert, it was more like 13 courses. I also got the wine pairing ($125). The sommelier was friendly and knowledgeable. I thought most of the pairings worked really well. I do think it was a bit too much wine though; the pours were generous. The restaurant's ambiance is quiet and on the darker side. No flash photography allowed. Seems like a few couples were on dates as well as small groups of friends. The dining room is pretty small though, only seats about 9 parties. Loved it! Would definitely come again. It was such a fun and interesting dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyWe walked in here on a Tuesday night without a reservation.
I was surprised we were seated after learning about their Michelin star. It appeared somebody had to go talk to somebody else who had to go talk to somebody else to make it happen, but it happened. I had no idea what we were in for, but I wasn't the least bit shocked it involved a multi-course tasting menu. The entire dining experience lasted around 2.5 - 3 hours. Our first course (snacks) consisted of potato requesón caviar, infladita and mushroom sfogliatella. Second course was nopales with jicama and avocado. This was an unexpected Mexican-esque surprise for a French restaurant. Third course was caviar. Fourth course was bread and butter. Fifth: abalone (beans, clams and ham)Sixth: egg yolk pasta with black truffle Seventh: lamb with fennel and vegetable Eighth: cheeses Ninth: three different desserts. After finishing your last course before dessert, they pick you up and move you outside the restaurant to the building next door. You end up in their wine room with over 20,000 bottles.Overall, the experience was worth every penny of the ~$700 bill for two. The service was very methodical, the pace was appropriate and the plating and taste of everything was elegant. The French-speaking staff added to the authenticity of the experience. Highly recommended, but make reservations ahead of time. I'm certain you won't be as lucky as us to be seated as a walk-in.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a combined review of several visits to Maude, most
This is a combined review of several visits to Maude, most before the pandemic and one after their recent reopening. The food is creative and presented well. They switched from a tasting menu focused on an ingredient such as strawberry or basil, to one focused on a region such as Piedmont before the pandemic. Both were good, the ingredients a bit more creative. I can't imagine coming up with 10 novel dishes per month, but they did it well. The regional menus were great too. The service was uniformly excellent and friendly. The meals were paced well. The environment was serene.I was thrilled to see Maude reopen after almost 2 years. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to our expectations. I knew something was off when we opened the door. There were several staff with their backs to us and we were not greeted by any. Eventually, someone turned around, verified our reservation and we were seated at the counter where we prefer to watch the preparations, sort of like front row seats at a cooking show. There was no greeting there either. The sommelier plopped a wine list down. After a few minutes, another person took the order and we waited. The vibe was quite different than the past with staff shouting out each dish as it was prepared. There with much chaos in the room, I think waiters bumped into my chair at least ten times. The service seemed more like service in business class at an airline than a high end restaurant. The food was good, but not excellent. No dish stood out as something memorable. The presentations were excellent and precise. Two dishes were a bit cold when served. In one case, the server told the kitchen the sauce wasn't warm enough after he served us. As long as he noticed, I would have waited for them to warm the sauce up instead of being served something cool. The wine pairing were good, but much less wine per glass than I recall from previous visits, more like pours at a wine tasting than wine to accompany a course. After the meal, dessert was a lengthy affair in a loud room. It had the vibe of a jazz bar, but the dessert menu. Desserts were well presented but the flavor profile wasn't exceptional.I know it's tough reopening with new staff after being shut for two years. They need to work out some kinks. I will try again, but I'll wait a while.
Be the first to ReplyWith the reopening of Maude Ive had 2 sets of reservations
With the reopening of Maude Ive had 2 sets of reservations 2 weeks ago and this past week. First visit we were not sat for dinner over 1 hr and 15minutes past our reservations...we did not leave until 12:30pm from a 7:30pm. THe food and service was mediocre! Last week i gave them another opportunity as they should have all the kinks out. We were sat promptly but service was sooooo slow that again we were there for 5 hrs!!!!!!On top of that for a Michelin star restaurant we had to fight with the waiter to processes separate checks. Not an issue the week before!! He was so lazy and disrespectful a member of our party figured out the exact amounts to put on each card for him and yet still gave us grief! Shame on you Management for disappointing your customers at $300+per person.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite restaurants.
I have been there twice and the food is unique and exceptional and the service is top notch. This is an experience I highly recommend and be prepared to be there for at least 2 hours as service will never feel rushed. A true gem in Los Angeles.

Global pandemic take-out review:Take-out has been a tough transition for a lot of places. Many, while worthy of award dine-in... haven't quite figured out how to do take home.Maude has, and their take-home is excellent. To be fair, you really gotta have a family to feed, or at least take it home and repack to share with your friends, or else this won't work for you.The rolls are delicious when baked, although we found they needed double the suggested time. The charred romaine salad with green goddess dressing was amazing-- would not have thought of that-- and the chilled soup was so refreshing it made me want the recipe! The lasagna was very rustic, focused on noodle and a hint of spice in the meat. Might be a minimal amount of cheese to some, but for others it was the perfect amount, just a hint in the layers, and a reasonable amount on top that bakes up perfectly.Dessert was a chilled cherry pie/cake type thing. No idea on the name but it was an excellent counterpoint-- sweet but not too sweet, chilled to not be too rich. HOM!The charred cauliflower looked good but alas we had to skip-- too much food! This place is Michelin 1* and it is well deserved.
