Came here on a recommendation of a friend who lives in
Came here on a recommendation of a friend who lives in London and we were not at all disappointed. We started with some great cocktails and I really enjoyed the Aegean Negroni I opted for; the addition of black pepper simple syrup really added to the complexity of the drink. Every single dish we had was superb, from the jars of tzatziki and tiropita to the crispy calamari and seabass tartare to start. The fresh bread, which was lightly charred, really paired well with the tzatziki and tiropita which were lightly whipped and so flavorful. The seabass came with a cucumber and jalapeno broth which had just the right amount of spice to elevate the fish. For main we split the lamb and grilled octopus which were both perfectly prepared. The lamb, which appeared to be sous vide, was cooked to an exquisite medium rare and the octopus had a great char both was still tender. The service and setting were both great and we highly recommend this establishment.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an experience! A modern take on Greek food.
They started us off with an amazing passion fruit spritzer "welcome shot". Then we ordered the eggplant "jar" which is a spread served with delicious warm bread! Fried calamari was delicious, as well as sea bass tartare and pork belly tacos! But the winner was the truffle chicken. We were full from previous courses but still cleaned the plate! With delicious mushrooms, perfectly cooked chicken and an incredible truffle scent and taste. Definitely recommend!!

A fabulous restaurant with Greek food with a modern twist! Definitely not your typical Greek restaurant with standard fare. This place is a standout. We were a party of six, and shared many items. The portions are not huge, but you won't leave hungry. The aubergine appetizer served in a small mason jar, the vegetarian balls with a mint dipping sauce, and the calamari, were truly outstanding! All the selections that we ordered were truly delicious, carefully prepared, and creative. The restaurant is small, intimate and very cozy. The service was also excellent, and one could tell that great pride is taken in the food they serve. Can't wait to visit London again, and eat at Mazi.

This place had such a charming atmosphere with amazing food! You could tell all of their dishes were carefully made and handled with love. Everything just seemed so thoughtful and I loved the tapas vibe of it all. My friend and I shared the tempura feta with lemon marmalade and caper merengue (my favorite. wow.), octopus (very well cooked), grilled aubergine (eggplant) jar with soy and thyme honey, and the black truffle chicken, hunkar begendi. All amazing dishes! I want to try the lamb when I go back, because I was already so full from all of these. I love this place!

No new taste. Just smaller and need assembly like ikea.

Be the first to ReplyExcellent and intimate modern Greek cuisine.
.. my brother in law (who is Greek) found this place via Yelp! I believe. It is located near Kensington Gardens, about 1.5 miles west.We came here for lunch on a Friday after arriving earlier in the day from the United States. We were hungry! However, note that Mazi's food is served "tapas" style and is meant for sharing. We had a number of dishes, including modern takes on horiatiki and stifada. The pork belly tacos were delicious (but small). I also enjoyed the zucchini croquettes and eggplant dip (there are a number of vegetarian options).Overall the place is quite expensive. For four adults and two children, our tab came out to be about £150. On our way out, I noticed a pre-fixe lunch menu that offers two courses for £15 or three courses for £22. I should have paid more attention! (They never offered us this menu or mentioned it).Service was good. The food comes out when it is reward. They called a cab for us when we were about ready to leave.Definitely worth a try but don't expect what you would get at a true Greek taberna!

Enjoyed the ambience, service and delicious food! Loved the jars, and the best Greek salad I have ever been served. Try Grandma's meatballs -'d the lamb!

We were walk-ins and they squeezed us in for an hour which meant we had no time for dessert. But the food is excellent! The Aubergine jar was very good...as was the grilled octopus, the courgettes, and spanakorisotto. They promptly shoo'd us out with no option for dessert so unfortunately will have to come back if I want to try anything. Bummer because I really wanted to try their galaktoboureko...
Be the first to ReplyThis is a special restaurant, no two ways about it.
It's obviously a popular place, though somehow it doesn't feel hectic even though it is quite a small restaurant. It feels like a secret gem that only the locals know but I am sure that is not true. As an aside, Ruth Wilson from Luther and The Affair was eating there the first time I went. She is extremely pretty in person. Not a shock, I suppose. I digress. Mazi a sor of tapas place, with elevated Greek dishes and great service. What more do you want? It's not even crazy expensive. Get a table ASAP!

London is full of Greek cuisine, but Mazi has been my favourite for quite some time. Inspired by the foods of old Greece, this charming restaurant brings together classic dishes handed down for generations and a contemporary flair for presentation and style. The whole concept of Mazi revolves around the fact that their dishes are meant to be shared by every guest at the table, which was perfect for my friend and I. When we arrived, we were greeted by our friendly server, who was more than happy to explain the menu. We started with perfectly grilled aubergine, with a touch of soy and thyme honey, and an authentic tzatziki with only a pinch of garlic, which were uniquely presented in rustic glass jars. We also shared a hot plate of feta tempura, served with lemon marmalade and caper meringue. I loved the mix of the creamy feta with the crunchy batter, and the tanginess of the lemon and sweetness of the capers were spot on. For the one of the mains, we had grilled octopus, which was delicious and perfectly charred, and the herbed potato salad and olive tapenade were the perfect accompaniments. My absolute favorite part was the Greek desserts, which we shared, but I was more than content to eat them all myself. The Galaktoboureko was delicious, the custard creamy and the dough light and flaky, with a hint of sweet syrup. We also enjoyed frozen Greek yogurt, topped with candied quince and a cinnamon oat crunch. Yum!Mazi is the best modern representation of the Greek cuisine in London, and the service and staff were excellent and accommodating. I particularly loved the way the food was presented, which really tied the rustic vibe of the restaurant's décor into the food. I highly recommend Mazi for anyone looking to escape to Greece through their taste buds!
