Very nice little place in the Art District.
Very nice food and service. Enjoyed everything and service was very good. The backed Brie was the best I've ever had . Rock shrimp were delicious .

The wait times are never too long, even when the restaurant is busy. They manage their reservations well.
Be the first to ReplyService was good.
The food was good, not bad. The octopus I got had a sweet bbq sauce on it, so it was good.
Be the first to ReplyI stop by here a lot, usually for happy hour.
.. and I love the happy hour menu for a quick bite and glass of wine. The HH Albariño is good! I've tried most of the HH items but my absolute favorite is the shrimp toast! Service is always great and the bartenders are always happy and fun.

Always have a good time ambiance is simply MIA :)
Be the first to ReplyI absolutely loved Michael's Genuine!! I'm ashamed.
I'd never been here here before when I heard they've been open for 17 years! I love that it's located in a little nook of the Design District, only $5.00 for valet, and they offer outside seating that is covered. It's a very cutesy place located in a very beautiful place. From the moment you arrive, the host is splendid. This place was slammed, and it was bumping. We arrived early, so we sat at the bar for some aperitifs & appetizers. The bartenders at the bar were great, and our drinks came out quickly. We ordered a few Mojitos & Rum Revivals with 3 orders of half a dozen oysters. Everything came out lightning fast. Our table was ready on time and I think we got one of the best tables in the house. Our server was amazing, I forgot his name, but he definitely gets a shout-out. He was funny, extremely attentive on an Easter Sunday, and we were seated outside. When we got our table, I ordered the find your path mocktail to have with Brunch & that drink was deeeeelicious. A white wine sangria and a bottle of wine. We got 2 orders of the deviled eggs to start off. They were yummy. We followed up with avocado toast - that comes with Maine lobster on top instead of a traditional egg. The falafel mezze and a pita, the falafel were so hot and fresh. The whole roasted lamb. Which was a misnomer because you only receive pieces of Lamb, not a whole lamb, lol. The pièce de résistance was the short rib hash. This dish was very flavorful and delicious. The short rib was cooked perfectly and just melted in your mouth. For desert, we ordered 2 nutella mousses - yummy but mostly chocolate. A lemon sabayon, which has full-blown blueberries in the mix, which makes it sweet & tart. The BEST desert was the raspberry mille feuille. The puff pastry was crispy yet soft enough to cut with a fork. Everything about this restaurant is a good time. The vibe, the staff, the food, everything was 5 stars all the way, and I hope to come back soon.

Happy Easter! So I checked into Michael Genuine Food and Drink for brunch today. I had eaten there a couple times before the pandemic. Lots of new changes, all good. Busy place so make reservations. Great menu, common food cooked with a twist. Delicious!! The potato chips with the onion dip... then the shrimp and grits with blistered greens... breakfast pizza! Get it.... food with creative twists! Oh and the watermelon ginger soda.... made there. Great dessert... I will call it the raspberry thing. It is way more than a "raspberry thing" I just cannot remember the full name. Just get it. Have I ever led you wrongly? Good staff, Sebastian took care of us and he was present and gave suggestions when asked. The manager was very involved, she worked the floor, helping and checking in at every table. You can dine in or outdoors, today was perfect for outdoors but the ambience inside is great. Green plants all over, comfortable seating, tables and booths, sofas with pillows and chairs. Brunch was excellent! Stop in and have a feast! You will enjoy it! Remember to look at the menu under Sweets for the "raspberry thing"
Be the first to ReplyThe food was absolutely phenomenal.
Restaurant is very cool and pretty. However, our waiter (Jacob) was rude, unprofessional, and very slow. It took a very long time for our food to come out. Then, we had to wait over 30 minutes for him to come up to us and ask if we wanted the bill. Would've been a much better experience if the service had been better.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a delightful visit.
The outdoor seating is beautiful and the live jazz band on Wednesday evenings was definitely a fun addition to the ambiance. Reservations is a must. Food was very tasty! Vito's Stratciatella was so fresh and delicious! The service was friendly and attentive. Street parking is accessible. Will definitely visit again when in Miami!

Located in the Miami design district, this restaurant had a nice outdoor seating area but inside was cozier, more romantic, and gorgeous decor. The vibe was enjoyable, not too loud, good music. Overall a great setting for date night or casual dinner with friends. Our server Sarah provided an excellent service experience. For drinks we each tried a different spritz, very refreshing. Our food was hamachi crudo, grilled octopus, roasted eggplant with lamb and pita (which we ordered TWICE!), and crispy skinned duck confit. Every plate was seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, overall executed perfectly. This is a strong recommend! We will be back.

We've been waiting for a long time to try this place! Oh boy, I so regret waiting that long. The outdoor/indoor vibe is fitting for Miami Design District. The food is beyond amazing! We started with the lamb and eggplant with zaatar pita, that was by far some of the best dishes I've had in my life, just divine! The tin sardines were very closed second to the lamb dish. We also had braised daikon, it was well put together dish for a vegetable. Then comes the burger, yes the famous burger! It was cooked to perfection and meat to bun ratio was just write. Ah I just can't wait to be back and try all other dishes. Service was outstanding and very thoughtful. One suggestion: a must make reservations ahead of time, esp on the weekends. We were glad we booked ahead as I saw so many folks turned away.

Brilliant spin on every dish, big flavors and healthy eclectic choices employing high quality seasonal yummy foo. Larger groups can enjoy different small plates and numerous sides as an introduction to the main event. Solid bar scene with a good vibe that transitions as the evening progresses delivers something for most. Try the new Uni sandwich- pic below

The food is pretty good but the prices far too high for what you get, and I mean the quality. I don't mind paying more if it is top notch. The service was good and they have some nice drink options.

My friend and I came to this restaurant because we heard great things from another friend who also happened to be named Micheal. He told us how chill the vibe was and the people and staff are nice and good energy around. We popped in for a drink and then a small plate, just something to pick at. The plates coming out look nice, will be coming back to try the food.

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars but I left very upset that a belligerent table of 4 seated next to me wasn't asked to leave immediately. They caused a scene yelling that their table "wasn't good enough" which, frankly, was somewhat insulting to everyone sitting in a section that was apparently beneath these rude people to sit in. The manager should have asked them to leave or comped the meals of those of us who had to deal with their bizarre entitlement.Aside from this, the food was very good and faster than most McDonald's. Perhaps too fast as they served my entree within two minutes of ordering it (questionable). It was, however, very good. The espresso martini was the highlight of the meal (aside from the Jerry Springer show I had to endure next to me).If I lived in Miami I probably come back more for a lunch while mid-day shopping. It seemed a bit fast casual for my dinner preferences. That is, assuming the patrons I sat next to are not a common experience.
Be the first to ReplyIn the mood for a unique brunch.
MGFD indulges you with delicious and not so traditional dishes. Seasonal flavors and one of the best bloody mary's in South Florida ( kimchi bloody Mary's), the exceptional chicken liver. A must if you are looking for something different but so tasty. Always packed but with a top of the line service. A nice gem in the design district
Be the first to ReplyGreat outdoor atmosphere and good food.
Salads burgers and pizzas for lunch. The octopus was the best.

Great restaurant! Superb service! Came for a birthday brunch which ended with the manager giving us free tequila! Had the oysters and croque madame which was top notch. I'll definitely be coming back!

I was not excited to eat here due to a negative experience I had in the past, but this is the perfect example of why one must give restaurants more than one opportunity. This time, my experience was very satisfying. At least if you're in the mood for some "tapas".The pig ears were perfectly crispy and satisfying to have on the side of some drinks. They also had foie gra in more of a pate style that was phenomenal! 10/10.The spiced lamb and charred eggplant was soo delish too. Very interesting flavors happening, although more of the pita would've been appreciated. The country pate was good but a bit underwhelming compared to other things we ordered. The star of the meal and what I will be dreaming about for days was the uni and caviar sandwich. WOW! This dish was so bomb! Very expensive as one can expect with the ingredients being used but well worth it in my opinion. The vibes were right, and the service was very attentive.
Be the first to ReplyHits and misses.
Stone crab with 2 sauces was very good as well as a salad with almond, olives and Calabrian chilies. Wood grilled green beans which have been wonderful in the past were undercooked and we only ate half and decided they were not worth eating. Sauteed baby bok choy with umami butter was ok but tasted like there was strong alcohol like ouzo added and it did not compliment the dish. Flounder en papillote with tarragon caper butter was high quality fish and tender but needed more caper butter because I did not taste any. Wood roasted eggplant with squash and onions was prepared well and the eggplant was creamy and flavorful which is an accomplishment because most resaurants do a bad job with eggplant and it is often rubbery. Service was excellent and we enjoyed dining outside.

Michaels Genuine Michael's genuine located in the design district here in Miami is definitely a place to check out. They have a variety of delicious and tasty meals from healthy to not so healthy. However, anything that you get will literally be a blast in your mouth. I had the short ribs hash, which came with a delicious sauce that really brought the plate together. The octopus taquitos were literally one of the best tacos I've ever had, which came paired with some guacamole... Now who doesn't love that. Overall, I gave this establishment a 10 out of 10 for its good food and amazing service .

Obviously the original and still the best restaurant in the Design District. Michael Schwartz is so talented and such a great chef and entrepreneur.

I use to love Michael's about 10 years ago when the Miami food scene was different but lately it leaves a lot to be desired. Today we spent c$1000 for brunch for a party of 6. Sadly the seafood tower for two was sparse and the other entrees weren't stellar. I'd give it a one star but I've been coming here for so many years that I can't let the amazing years erase today's mediocrity.
