I went to try this new place that opened up yesterday
I went to try this new place that opened up yesterday because the advertising said it was Japanese infused with French cuisine and sounded exciting. The parking was a bit of a challenge, if there isn't any street parking you have to use a garage that's next to it and it a bit of a walk to the placeAnyway, the entrance is very elegant is shrouded in bushes on in a corner and draws you curiosity very much. We went in and the staff was very welcoming, upon entering there is a beautiful fountain and you feel like you enter a very lush hidden garden so in terms of atmosphere, it's a W. The hostes sat us right away and let us pick indoor or outside, we decided inside and again very elegant decor, the painting and the white with yellow and brown give it a very intimate feel. The paintings are soft on the eyes they express love but they are not gaudy or crass. Then, came time to order and we decided to get some of the items that seemed like we hadn't seen elsewhere. We choose as appetizers the duck a l'orange gyoza. Excellent dish! The duck mean combined with the citrusy orange sauce was perfect to start. Duck a la orange is not new but normally other places make the jus orange too sweet, this dish had the balance just right. Then as entrees we got the Lobster and uni Tagliatelle and the Branzino. Again, this was. Big Win. The branzino was served with this truffle salad dressing jus that was the perfect combination with the cooked fish, the skin was toasted but not burned and combined with the salad and the jus made it the dish very unique and I'd go back for it in a heart beat then the pasta with lobster was also perfectly cooked, the pasta was not soggy it was the right texture and the taste of the subtle soy butter with horseradish again, complimented the lobster taste. Amazing dishes and then came the desert and again, amazed! We order chocolate pot de creme. I'm not sure how to describe it, the chantillí with the Mizo glaze and the chocolate mouse with crumbs, spectacular! This place is about a three dollar sign place and it's worth it. Throughout all this out server Lorena was part of the charm! She explained everything, kept checking up on us, accommodated us and was really attentive and helpful since my wife had a few dietary requests. Please go check it out, it's a good, cozy place. It wasn't obviously loud even though it was packed, ppl have their intimacy available and it's worth the experience.

Love this place! It's so cozy and the coffee selection is great! I don't think I've ever had so many options as getting a delicious cup of heaven. The staff was really nice and I can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyI am not sure what to say.
They once had an amazing brunch. The Monte Cristo was amazing and the service was outstanding. The curry mango chicken crepe was out of the box and special. Recently they changed chefs and I just don't feel it is the same. maybe it was a bad day... I will give them another try just based on their history.

My first time at Moloko it took almost two hours to get out food, but I justified it because it was on a busy evening. The spicy Thai crepe was very good. I loved it! Forgiving the bad service I ventured today to return on weekday around lunch, when the place was virtually empty only to find the same horrible service. After 20 mins of waiting patiently for them to even acknowledge me, I just had to get up and go somewhere. With that level of service I doubt they will survive long.

The atmosphere here is awesome and the staff is very friendly! It did take a few minutes to get my food but I watched them cook it right in front of me. I had the breakfast with a pancake, bacon, eggs, and hash browns. I liked it so much that I'm trying something else for lunch.

Can I give it zero stars? Never again! I was so excited to try this place out. I purchased the groupon and was so excited to try some place new in midtown. My friend was sitting outside when I arrived at 11:05 on a Saturday morning. We waited for about 30 min and since no one came to the table we went inside to place our order to be told by the server that she would be right with us. She said she would take our order at the table but they were short staffed. (Not an excuse!) So we placed both beverage and food order. 30 min later we still had not recieved our water or coffee. I went to the counter willing to take our water to the table myself and she said she would take it. And we waited. As we sat outside there was a bee nest dropping things on to us (gross!) so moved inside. It was as if we were arriving for the first time. Finally by 12:30 we had received both food and drink. One coffee order was wrong. And we had to ask 2x for utensils. When we wanted more coffee we had to find our server to ask for it. Mind you this place is not that big. One of my friends had ordered a salad and was asked "what do you want on it?" And my friend responded "what it says on the menu", seriously???I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was cooking but would be with me as soon as he could. So a young man came over and apologized and said he would make it right. We spent $52 before tax and tip-bc we still tipped despite the horrendous service we received. In my opinion, the manager didn't really make anything right and I don't think we should've paid for anything and I should request a refund from groupon. The food was not all that either but it was cheap. This place was not super busy so I'm not sure what the issues were. When we were leaving our server was sitting at the bar eating bacon very comfortably. I'm so sorry your customer got in the way of you watching the World Cup. I will never recommend this place and I will never be back here again. If they plan to succeed they need to revamp their management asap.

This has to be the WORST breakfast experience I have ever had. I went with my wife because she noticed the Groupon. It took us at least 45 minutes to even get a water. It took an hour to get coffee. The guy on the guitar took up the little space they had with his slow and bad music. We were hoping maybe the food would be ok. Then we got the food. It was disgusting and not cooked. We got the ends of bread for toast (not toasted), the eggs were not cooked. My french toast was burnt. The bacon was not cooked. The eggs Benedict eggs was not even close to a poached egg.The girls serving you were clueless. She said she would bring me scrambled eggs. She brought me back some over cooked slop in a plastic cup! The eggs look like something I would serve my dog. See below. The girls next to us had been waiting an hour and a half for coffee!!Their artwork was old shoes hanging from the ceiling like a drug deal. Seriously?!

I adore this place! It's near my job and I cannot get enough of it. The crepes are to die for but I personally cannot live without their Nutella Latte. The workers are very friendly and such fun to be around.

Left this place about 2 hours ago and I will never return. Came to support my friend and his art exhibit which opened here tonight. . I am not a complainer by nature, but tonight I experienced HANDS DOWN THE WORST SERVICE OF MY LIFE. Not only did they forget my beverage for about 25 min, they also brought me a sandwich with no bread, and the completely wrong menu item for my boyfriend. As our party was getting ready to go, I asked them to cancel my order because we had already waited over an hour. The manager/owner/ whatever she is Belaxis Buil not only argued with me and called me a liar, she accused me of causing a scene while she yelled at me and I was speaking to her barely above a whisper and calmly/respectfully. I told her we no longer wanted the menu items, but she insisted on comping our entrees and giving them to us to go. The rest of our party's order came out wrong (and at least a half hour before ours when we virtually ordered 5 minutes after them) and were charged for something they didn't order which delayed in our exit while they got their check fixed. I asked for silverware and because we started eating some of food since we were stuck waiting, Ms Buil came back and TOOK back the comping of our meals. Needless to say, I refused to pay after being treated so rudely and yelled at. NEVER in my life have I received such terrible service from a restaurant and such disgusting attitude from a supposed manager/owner. If this is how they treat people on an opening of an art exhibit, I doubt this place will stay open for long. Shameful because I was looking forward to enjoying the art and the atmosphere there. Overall abhorrent service and clearly Buil has no clue about hospitality or customer service. Just another starving artist with an inflated ego.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my first yelp review ever and what prompted me to
This is my first yelp review ever and what prompted me to create an account was MOLOKO, THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE! I have never attended a restaurant/ cafe so hectic and in such disarray in my life. To begin, I have gone here several different times on various days and each time has been the same, terrible! Last weekend I went with a friend of mine for breakfast and it was a little busy (nothing crazy though) and it too an hour and a half to get eggs and bacon!! On top of the long wait, the most UNPROFESSIONAL THINGS HAPPENED!!! The owners had their young toddler child screaming her head off while the father was cooking and mother was doing who knows what!! Also there were child cartoons playing on the TV during breakfast which I thought was odd and unprofessional. I mean, I am a huge supporter of family owned and operated businesses but this is a business- NOT YOUR PRIVATE HOME! I'm a paying customer who wants a nice breakfast out, not some family member looking to grab a free meal at your private home! It was completely UNPROFESSIONAL! Then, once the owners child wouldn't stop crying (for almost an hour), the woman owner finally picked her up and then went to our and all the other tables "seeing how our breakfast was" and telling us about the artwork on the walls... WITH THE CHILD STILL CRYING IN HER ARMS! I Couldn't believe it, it was like something out of a terrible horror movie. I honestly thought I was on a candid camera show. More on the food and drinks:The good was okay, nothing special or anything I couldn't make better at my home. Like if said earlier, I usually just had eggs, bacon, French toast. However the coffee drinks were pretty good, the one decent thing throughout all my visits here. Over the course of coming here I had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff during a less crowded time and I have to say through all the chaos, at least they showed genuine care. The manager Edward who assisted me after a long wait for my food was polite and understanding of our frustration and the blonde barista Alexis was also eager too help and friendly. However as a whole- simply due to the amount of un-professionalism here and the amount of time it took to get our food, and the woman owner with the screaming child visiting our table, I give this place 1 star. I give this place no more then a few more months until it closes for good. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! NOT WORTH THE TIME, HEADACHE OR MONEY!!
