Motek Coral Gables - Mediterranean Restaurant Miami Reviews from The Last Year
I've come here on three occasions now.
Favorites are the hummus options (so far tried the shakshuka and the mushroom) and the arayes burger. The Moroccan fish was also really good, spicy, the fish was so tender and moist. The Jerusalem breakfast is also a strong contender and I loved how it came with so several different small sides. The service is generally pretty good, but during the one time I went to celebrate a friend's birthday, the staff seemed fairly new and did make a few mistakes (extra orders that we didn't order). But they did try to make up for it by letting us know, and they let us try their licorice flavored liquor for free for my friend's birthday. The environment is amazing whether you sit inside or outside. Have to pay for parking via street parking or in the parking garages All in all service can be a hit or miss. But the food is consistently good.
I absolutely loved this food! A friend recommended this
I absolutely loved this food! A friend recommended this spot and we tried it out. So glad we did! The food left us feeling full satisfied but most importantly not bloated and gross after. Food was fresh, delicious and ambience was nice and chic. Def recommend
Do like Motek, been here few times.
Last Saturday evening did enjoy, server Mariazabel terrific. But nobody really ever came to help clean or wipe our table. They do have one of the best hummus and certainly their pita bread is wonderful. Their Baharat Old Fashioned is great. Just little difficult to have more than a couple of items at same time on those miniature tables for two when having dinner and things. Oh and they really need to attend to those restrooms so badly maintained.
Very upscale dining experience.
As soon as you enter the restaurant, you can see the elegance and thought behind each aspect of the interior design. From the bar area down to the custom engraved plates on which you will dine. The service is great. The menu offers classic options and some modern twists on middle eastern fare. There are plenty of vegetarian options. We ordered the crispy cauliflower which was only mediocre. The honey in the glaze was quite heavy handed making the dish feel almost like a dessert. We also tried their shakshuka (brunch all day menu) and we were quite pleased the dish. My wife was not a fan of the white topping (tahini we believe) but the eggs and tomato sauce were fantastic. The challah bread it comes with was also very nice. I had the chicken shawarma platter. All of the components were delicious down to the salad and dressing. Overall none of the dishes were outstanding but none were disappointing either. The price point is high as expected and honestly we felt as though we were paying mostly for ambiance rather than exceptional food. A good restaurant for a fancy meal but I wouldn't expect the food to be far from what you might get at a standard middle eastern restaurant. Would recommend trying it out if in coral gables!
Food was good but when the bill arrived it made sense why
Food was good but when the bill arrived it made sense why the service felt like dishes were being pushed on us and once the order was in, empty water glasses remained. They include an automatic 22% gratuity no matter the party size. We were 3.
Not such good food and my entree took a long time to arrive.
On top of that a 20% tip is added to the check which I believe is high. I'm not against adding the tip but all other restaurants I have been to is 18%.
We tried one of each! Strawberry, Mint and regular lemonade
We tried one of each! Strawberry, Mint and regular lemonade all great! Very refreshing on a hot Miami day!
Everyone on staff was so kind and accommodating.
It was an extremely busy day and they still treated us so well and honored our reservation time. The cocktails were very good. The margarita was absolute perfection. The appetizers (tzatziki and the mushroom hummus and the pita bread) were insanely good. All of the items (french toast, Arayes burger and Falafel) we ordered were all delicious. The service and the food were absolutely top notch.
Very Disappointing. Way overhyped.
Excited to try this place after reading several articles on it. Ordered Hummus and pita and both were very good. However the pita to hummus ratio was not good. Two small breads for a very generous portion of hummus. But the real problem was the shawarma plate. $34.00 for a small portion of meat. The meat was not slices but minced into extremely small (almost scrap pieces}. It was very much overcooked, so dry and hard as to be un-appealing to eat. I enjoy shawarma, eat it often and know how it is supposed to be prepared and taste. I almost felt they wiped scraps off the counter to prepare the dish. Salad that came with it was actually very good. But not enough to make up for the disaster of the main dish. Staff was very inattentive. Their were very few other diners at the time but they stood and talked to each other not more than two feet away and never offered a water refill or inquired if we wanted any thing else or how our dinner was. Their are far better mediterranean choices than to waste your money at this one.
I gave one star because zero was not an option.
We came here for a Mother's Day dinner. All I wanted was a burger and my daughter insisted we come here. At $29 a burger, I guess I held the bar of expectation a bit higher. This was one of the worst burger experiences I have had in a long time. Our food was over cooked, and came out at different times. We did not enjoy this meal at all. So stressed that we could not enjoy a simple burger , we ate separately cause food came out so separated. Our waitress became MIA, our water ran dry multiple times. It was so disappointing, almost infuriating that I chose to come here for a special dinner. Finally before the bill arrived the manager removed 3 of the 5 burgers... and waitress handed me a bill with a 20% service charge included. I would have NEVER left a 20% tip for such bad service. I work hard to earn my dollars and to be forced to give it away for bad service was really annoying. This is a overhyped... cannot see myself ever returning. Buyer beware.
Excellent food, great service and terrific vibe.
The mushroom hummus and home made Pitas were amazing!
I had been wanting to try one of the Motek locations and
I had been wanting to try one of the Motek locations and this one is in the old cibo location. It's huge and finally a well decorated bright space. We went with a reservation on a Friday night thankfully, as it was busy! We ordered a few apps but our favorites were the watermelon feta salad, tzatziki & mushroom hummus. We also shared the braised short rib special which was PHENOMENAL! The service was ok , they automatically add a 20% gratuity which is fine but the service should match. I definitely want to go back! There is soo much to try on their expansive menu.
Food was delicious and the service was great.
We had the lamb chops with rice, delicious and served with 3 lamb chops. The Fish on a red sauce was very tender and tasty Wine was grest
Everything was great, we really enjoyed the mushroom hummus.
Our server NASA was so kind and knowledgeable. We even came back twice in one day because we loved it so much and were shopping around the area. Will definitely go back! We sat outside, but the ambience inside seems great as well!
Very good food and cool atmosphere.
Staff is very nice and professional. My wife loves this place and it is are number one choice.
Ambience 10/10.
Natural flavors. You can tell they put effort into every dish. The hummus was the creamiest hummus I've ever tried and it paired beautifully with their fluffy pita bread! The feta cucumber salad with capers was refreshing after wedding dress shopping, it had a great balance of flavors! The honey cauliflower had the perfect mix of crunch with the taste of the sweet honey as well as a hint of sea salt. We finished it off with the chicken shawarma which also was just as flavorful. For dessert we had the knafe with ice cream! You could taste the rose water in the dessert it was phenomenal
Beautiful interior.
Food was excellent. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Also short walk to the Coral Gables Cinema which shows some indie films.
For the main dish we had the Turkish lamb kebab, the Arayes
For the main dish we had the Turkish lamb kebab, the Arayes Burger and the chicken schnitzel plate. For dessert we Had the Babka Bread Pudding, a Knafeh, and Gold Star beer. Can't say enough about Motek, warmly greeted and quickly seated. Our server seemed a bit busy and took a bit to take our order, but all well worth the wait. Ambiance was vibrant and lively. Although, I must admit, their new payment system seemed to start at 20% tipping. What if service had not been good?, there was no way for an alternative. Gladly, we left full and satisfied. Motek does not disappoint.
Food was very good, the wine list is ridiculously expensive.
I thought the service was fine.
Motek is such a beautifully designed restaurant with
Motek is such a beautifully designed restaurant with delicious food and great service! I came here with my family for lunch. We didn't have a reservation but we were able to be seated in the outdoor area within 10 minutes. The ambience is great. The service is really good. The manager came to our table at the end of our meal to ask how we liked the food. I had the chicken shawarma with hummus and salad and the middle eastern dumplings as an appetizer. Both were really delicious!
Only updating to add images of the beautiful hummus I had.
Still excited to return and try other dishes. If you go enjoy!
Best hummus I've ever eaten.
What to say about this place? Perfect, delicious food! Hummus is the best I've ever eaten in my life, we've been back several times! The place is beautiful and the service is perfect.
Way too little for too much and deceived about “FREE” $9 bread.
Overcharged for small portions. Tried for 1st time with my wife. Nice ambiance. Ordered “lamb” kebob for $32. Comes with spicy green pepper. Little to eat. Not chunks of lamb, but ground meat?? We ordered hummus/tahini also. Decent, small portion . Server brought nice loofah bread. Best part of meal. My wife ordered falafel . Seemed decent, but my wife was sick later that evening. , but once again, came with nothing and small portion. When I received bill, I was charged $9.00 for loofah bread. Had never ordered this $9.00 bread and would never have ordered it, had I known that they were planning to charge me $9.00 for it. This is like a scam. They put it on your table and you assume it comes with hummus order. I didn’t complain about it because I did not want to upset my wife. I paid the bill and left never to return.
Don't waste your time or money
The worst, most wildly overpriced garbage mall food I have ever had. Ordered Lamb Shish Kabob, got ground mystery meat instead. Unapologetic wait staff with a terrible attitude. Don't waste your time and money.
learn spanish
Beautiful place, the food is good, the service is one of the worst. The waitress was very unhappy that we didn't speak Spanish and gave us recommendations on shareables that were really small (say it's smaller and more inviting). She was very short with us and was much more kind with Spanish speakers and gave them great service. I did not expect from such a place racism towards people who do not speak Spanish. I have to point out that the whole staff speaks Spanish and not just honey, but I have never met such racism from the waitress anywhere
Frustrating and expensive for what it delivers, in addition to charging 20% of the total bill. I will never step foot here again!!!
The restaurant charges a 20% service tax!!! It doesn't matter if you are alone or with one other person!!! There is no negotiation!!! The master simply forced us to pay the 20% without any other option. And food isn't even those things. Pure pepper. I do not recommend this restaurant!!!
Great Israeli Food but Needs to be Nicer to Wine Drinkers
Great food, nice staff but an outrageous corkage fee of $60 for a restaurant without linens and plastic dishes is a bit absurd. I meant to complain to the manager but had to leave quickly. Miami has always been a reasonable town for corkage. Now it seems it is trying to discourage customers from bringing their own wines which is a very unfortunate choice. I think this will hurt dining in the long run.
TOP LUNCH
Excellent food! Ambience 10! I highly recommend it. Family lunch! Brickel City Center. Great option for a different meal.
We were a group of 13 people . My daughter made the RSVP.
We were a very large group And we were lucky that my daughter’s reservation was still good when we arrived at 7:30pm. We have never been here ever since we are tourists and we shared the plates: Israeli salad , cauliflower couscous , Hummous mushroom, crispy chicken schnitzel, chicken shawarma, some laffa bread , French fries . And Turkish Lamb kebab . Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals ! Very delicious food !! Fast service !
Unity in Adventure
I went to the unit located in Aventura Mall. Great. Very well prepared mezzes. Great kebabs (kafta), especially the lamb one. Excellent bread to accompany. The grilled artichokes don't disappoint either. Worth visiting
Run out of food at 745 pm !
We went twice to a Motek Aventura Miami. On both occasions with fiends who,had heard good things about this Mediterranean styled restaurant. One has to book its essential to do so. The first time we booked for 800 pm requested one of the cauliflower appetisers to be told we don’t have any. I’m vegetarian and the menu is limited for me so I had the summer salad of watermelon Our friends and my husband had meat sandwiches which they enjoyed our server was efficient but when paying. She gave us a much larger bill from another table ! Our second visit on the 26 December some days later table booked for 745 pm. Our guests asked for the meat sandwiches to be told we don’t have any as we’ve sold out. Our guests asked what do,you have and the server rattled off not much left on the menu. We asked for a bottle of rose wine it was warm even though it was in an ice bucket Once again no cauliflower again I had watermelon option salad…… It’s obvious to me that someone in the kitchen can’t do the math when ordering the food because they run out,of food on their menu by 745pm each and every night….. Are Motek so arrogant they think diners will flock anyway …. ? “emperors new clothes “. Motek watch out there’s better Mediterranean inspired restaurants coming up in Miami.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

I have a similar question, it seems like when money is refunded it doesnt go immediately what is the process of this since its essentially a debit card and not a credit card
