We were there during a really heavy rainstorm and the dining room was welcoming. Our server, Mary, took very good care of our group of eight, we never wanted for anything. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Even though we were full, we all had bread pudding for dessert and enjoyed it as well.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible dinner there the other night.
Absolutely best server (Michael). Ambiance is so warm & inviting - sophisticated but not at all pretentious. Go in w/ shorts & a t-shirt or dress up. Either is fine. There's also a great bar, if u want to keep it totally casual; otherwise, make a reservation. The food...Starters: wedge salad crisp, fresh, so tasty; gumbo ya ya (they're known for this & it's so flavorful w/ chicken & andouille sausage chunks). Entrees: soft shell crab w/ fresh corn mac choux (crazy fresh sweet corn sautéed w/ peppers & cream - wow); seared Maine jumbo scallops on risotto w/ sautéed peppers & cream. Both were so flavorful - we couldn't pick a fave. Dessert was just so-so --- the bread pudding w/ whiskey cream sauce (we prefer a mushier pudding w/ rum sauce). PERFECT night. We'll be back!

We made a reservation here for my fiancé's birthday per a recommendation from a family friend. However, it was very disappointing. Potentially, the others who left reviews here had a different experience but I expected way more from an upscale restaurant. I ordered the house-favorite barbecued shrimp and my dish came out cold. My fiancé ordered the crawfish and sheepshead and it was okay. In our opinion it did not seem worth the money that it was. I would definitely have picked a different dining option for a special occasion if I had the choice.

Food and service were excellent!! We shared the New Orleans shrimp and ordered and extra loaf of bread to dip in the roux, and then had bread pudding for dessert. We eat here every time we are in NOLA and it never disappoints!
Be the first to ReplyI visited Mr B's for Easter Brunch with my wife & daughter.
We did not have reservations, but the host said they were able to get us a table. We were sat all the way in the back on side on the kitchen, which was not a big deal. We were just happy to have a table with no reservations at a great restaurant like Mr B's. Our server's name was Nikki I believe. She was a nice enough lady, but overall was not a very good server. I've included a picture to show the stack of dishes left on our table for a very long time. At one point even a manager passed our table and did not pick them up. I was very surprised at the overall lack service the place is known for. Also all of our food was room temperature at best, or cold. I don't know if the server was leaving our food too long in the pickup window before getting it to our table, but the food was not up to Mr B's standards! Even our cocktails were just ok. We had the gumbo & fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. The gumbo was good, however the green tomatoes were cold and soggy as if they were sitting for a long time. We did not even eat them. My daughter had chicken tenders and fries, they were room temperature which was acceptable because she could start eating immediately. My wife had shrimp and grits (which she always orders) the grits were very gummy and extremely thick, not very good at all. I had the eggs Florentine, which the flavor was very good, but the food was warm at best. Overall this was a disappointing experience. Mr B's is not a cheap place to have a meal, and cocktails but that's ok when the food, and service is excellent. This was not one of those experiences. We eat here often, my wife also brings clients from work there to show them the quintessential New Orleans restaurant experience. I hope this was just an off day for them, because the service and food was not to Mr B's standards!

Mr. B's Bistro is probably the best meal I've had in awhile and definitely the best I've had in 2024! It's definitely a more formal restaurant but they didn't require formal attire and it didn't feel stuffy. I looked to Yelp to see what I should order and oh.my.goodness I'm so glad I went with their signature bbq shrimp. I really didn't know what to expect (definitely thinking shrimp in bbq sauce) but oh my I'm glad it wasn't what I was thinking! The broth I could have drank like soup! It had so much depth of flavor and the shrimp were cooked perfectly in the broth. I definitely used the extra bread from the table to get every last drop! I ended my meal with some delicious bread pudding. Service was on point and the food quality definitely matched the price. I will definitely be back to share the experience with my husband!

This was PHENOMENAL! I had the glazed pork chops and there all that and a bag of chips! So juicy, so tender and so FLAVORFUL! The BBQ shrimp were great as well. You can't miss here!
Be the first to ReplyClassic New Orleans style spot but with a modern flair.
Nice and bustling ambience. Decided to share the bbq shrimp as an appetizer which was a good choice and the broth went very nicely with the fresh bread. Almost embarrassed to admit, but I ordered shrimp & grits every night I visited New Orleans and the Bacon wrapped shrimp & grits at Mr B's were hands down the best! Pork had an Asian style glaze and was very delicious. Good cocktails and service.
Be the first to ReplyPoor overall experience.
Waitress was cold, just like my wife's entree. Wine was poor. Salad was overpriced with minimal ingredients. High cost was NOT worth it.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best restaurants in.
Ew Orleans. Consistently superb food and presentation. Laid back private club atmosphere. One of my gogo choices for out of town guests. Attentive, even gracious service. Convenient for hotel guests or shoppers along Royal Street. I think they valudated parking at the Solaris garage next door. If you can't walk here, I'd use rideshare to avoid the extortionist public parking areas that surround the French Quarter
Be the first to ReplyOur gumbo was cold, and the server was rude.
The bistro has beautiful decor just not happy with the overall experience. Was told they had the best bbq shrimp but not the best I've had. Bread was soggy and soft not the best for soaking up that juice.

Loved this place! Old world Nola vibe! Steven our waiter was great! Loved the bbq shrimp. I want to go back for more! Go! You won't be disappointed. They have a full bar, I only wish they had a better cocktail list.
Be the first to ReplyFinally got to go back to Mr.
B's. Came a few times after Katrina and they were closed due to damage. Our last visit they had to close because of hurricane warnings. Excellent as always for our lunch. Our server was Steven who is very happy, enthusiastic and loves Mr. B's. Our group of 4 had 2 BBQ Shrimp and 2 Crab Cakes and split a Bread Pudding for dessert. BBQ shrimp is their signature dish and rightly so. A good portion of shrimp with the butter based sauce and it is amazing. Prepare to have your face and fingers covered with the sauce and need a few napkins to get through it. Two had the crab cakes which are good sized and mostly crab. Very good too. The bread pudding was OK. Need more cinnamon or brown sugar or something to not be bland.

Great food (bbq shrimp is legendary and still lives up to the hype). Extremely friendly and fun servers. My foodie GF's favorite spot in New Orleans. Extra star for opening the door a few minutes early to let us get out of the rain.

Brunch was amazing on a Sunday morning! Impeccable service, and the food was to die for! We brunches for at least 3 hours and even second lined around the dining room with a 90 year old (birthday) and his family. So much fun. Our brunch group will be back soon from the Northshore!

A little upscale atmosphere compared to all the other places we've been. Truffle fries were pretty good and crabcakes were even better. I was not really a fan of the eggroles but that's only because I'm not a fan of duck, so to be expected. The main course, Pasta Jambalaya was the best dish I've had in the city, with a little twist. Jambalaya should be served with rice, but the linguini noodles fit the dish perfectly. Desert rounded out a great meal. Scrumptious bread pudding, hot brownie with ice cream amazing and the cheesecake was near perfect, leaning on the sour cream kept it from being too sweet.
Be the first to ReplyWe were there at an off time so had the bar menu.
The bartender was super nice and great. Bbq shrimp was hands down amazing! Our bartender helped us with bibs, split the entree, and had a warm towel towel and lemon setup to clean our hands. The bread pudding was also very delicious. Solid ambiance as it just reminds you of a steakhouse
Be the first to ReplyDavid, Gayle, and I enjoyed our farewell to New Orleans
David, Gayle, and I enjoyed our farewell to New Orleans dinner her at Mr. B's before flying home the next day. A local family friend made an excellent recommendation that we come here. CONS - We were seated towards the back and next to 2 group tables. You get what you get, but a few folks at one of those tables were LOUD. PROS - We came in on the early side of the evening and were able to get a table right away and without a reservation. After that, the dining areas filled up quickly. - Classy white table cloth dining room and professional front desk service that greeted us and escorted us to our table. - Stellar table service from our waiter Reem. - A great Bistro burger ordered by me and David. Yes, after a bunch of good Nawlins eating of fish (fried or not) and other Creole/Cajon choices, there's nothing like a exceptional burger. - Gayle thoroughly enjoyed her tasty and messy (with bib) BBQ Shrimp. - And for dessert? Pecan pie with ice cream! It's always a nice evening when you leave happy full and feeling that we were well taken care of.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I landed at Mr.
B's on a Sunday, so they were proffering their Brunch menu versus lunch. Unfortunately, our absolute favorite dish - their delectable catfish fingers - were not in the menu. We started with salads, which were lick the plate good! Their bistro salad is a dish so good that I've tried to replicate it at home: the perfect tang with the dressing, spice and crunch with the pecans, and the cheese! I had the debris Eggs Benedict. The biscuit was good - black pepper buttermilk biscuit. The debris was just ok. It wasn't really shredded or terribly tasty. It seemed like a very safe Disney approach to a classic dish. My wife had the crab cake. One crab cake...$34!! A la carte and not that big. So she ordered the seafood gumbo. The roux was very, very dark - and unfortunately, it overpowered the dish. Thankfully, they took it off. When the bill came, they had charged us $30 for desserts we hadn't had...but they did take them off. Overall, it was ok but not the stellar experience we've had before.

What a GEM!!!! I was there on Mardi Gras weekend with my husband. So it was beyond crazy! People everywhere and waits were long everywhere. We walked right up and they sat us right away... surprise! Restaurant was beautiful and the food was fire! With so many choices in the French quarter this place was a real find. Cocktails were magical... just magical. Service was fantastic and we will be back every time we are in town.
Be the first to ReplyMy partner and I visited Mr.
B's Bistro during our trip to New Orleans and we had a great experience overall. The wait time for a table for two was around 45 minutes, but the restaurant's text notification system allowed us to explore the beautiful French Quarter while we waited.Once we were seated, we ordered the gumbo and BBQ shrimp. While the gumbo was a bit too salty for my taste, the BBQ shrimp was simply amazing - easily one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. To top it off, we were there on St. Patrick's Day and the green dessert was a fun touch that tasted as good as it looked. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The restaurant also had a great wine list, which made the meal all the more enjoyable.Overall, I highly recommend Mr. B's Bistro for a delicious meal and great service in the heart of New Orleans.

This restaurant is a must visit every time I go to New Orleans. My friend recommended it to me, and I was hooked after my first visit. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. Nestled in the middle of the French Quarter, it has the historic look of New Orleans. But once you get inside, it's a very elegant restaurant.Once you come in, you are greeted immediately by their friendly staff. After you are seated, they bring you water and a freshly baked loaf of bread with butter. My go-to dish from them is the BBQ shrimp. Once you order it, the waiter comes and ties a bib around you. You know that means you will get your hands dirty, it will be messy, and very DELICIOUS! It was not what I had expected when the first time I ordered. From the name, I thought it was going to be BBQ shrimp off of a grill. It was more of a sautéed dish with an AMAZING sauce. It comes with a few slices of bread that you can use to soak up the sauce. The shrimps are super fresh and has a lot of the flavorful orange juices inside the head.I'm not sure if this is the correct way, but this was how I was told to eat it. -Suck the juices off of the shell.-Peel the shell off-Eat the shrimp meat-Suck the juices and everything inside of the head, then discard.I've also tried the pork chop, it was very good and juicy. But not much can beat the BBQ shrimp.

We had reservations for a late lunch. All of our meals were prepared perfectly and timely. We shared gumbo yaya and a salad. My husband and I split a burger, and our daughter ordered the grilled fish. Our servers made sure we had everything we needed and were friendly. Mr. B's will be on our list when we come back to NOLA.
