Wednesday evening, 16 February, I dined at Nineteen amongst a family group of four. From the wine-list I chose a bottle of Alta Malbec, from Mendoza, Argentina, which was shown on the wine-list as costing UAE Dirhams 245.
When the final bill was presented to me I remarked to the waiter that the printing on the itemised bill was faint and could not be read in that lighting. I passed the bill to my daughter for her to read and she told me the total amount, which I paid. It is only since reading the faint bill in better light can I see I was charged AED 327 for the wine. Why was I charged AED 327 when the wine-list stated this Malbec price as AED 245 ?
What has annoyed me more than being overcharged is being completely ignored while I have complained three times by email. I have not received so much as an acknowledgement, never mind a justifying or apologetic reply.
A restaurant of this supposed standing within such an esteemable group of hotels should not overcharge its customers and should certainly never ignore their valid complaints. This is appalling customer service.
