It’s always nice to be at a Nobu restaurant
It used to be great, went down hill after chef Harold left to head up the kitchen at Nobu Sydney. We have been here at least 20-25 times and had great evenings with friends and family. We have celebrated many birthdays here and got to meet fantastic people. Always a joy. I hope the kitchen steps up and gets their standard to the global Nobu standard again. We will be back to see how it’s going.

The only Nobu in Africa!!! Ya it’s worth the hype. Hubby booked this for our anniversary and I was impressed. The ambiance, the deco, the food just WOW. Affordable too. For some reason I thought it would be expensive but the prices are affordable but the food out of this world . It’s high class like that that and that’s something we really wanted for our anniversary

We were 6 people. The dishes did not arrive in a single time, there was a delay between one and the other. The waiters mixed the dishes we ordered. Food without taste. I won't go back, nor recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced for experience and product
I was solo in Cape Town for a few days and the weekend straddled some work conferences. I decided to go and try Nobu as had read and heard great things! Restaurant was beautiful. Music seemed inappropriate for the occasion. Food wise I ordered a starter and a main as per the waitress suggestion. To my surprise, the main meal came first. When questioned they indicated it was because the ' one kitchen was ready first and it is hot'. Then the starter arrived 1 min later. Two dishes now sitting at my table. The waitress asked if she can bring the starter later to which I agreed. I did enquire from two separate waiters if this is the norm. Both seemed to skirt the issue. The main dish, tempura crab dish, was underwhelming for the price. The scallop sashimi starter was delicious. The service was excellent. But to not have such basics in place, ie order of food for patron for these prices is not acceptable.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced & average
We dined here during our week long stay in Cape Town. The restaurant itself is a little underwhelming in terms of decor/table’s/chairs etc, it looks a bit bland in comparison to other Nobu restaurants. Our starters were below average, the sushi was same as anywhere else and the chicken taco’s were nothing special. The black cod I had was delicious, but other than that, the dishes weren’t as good as we expected. We were very underwhelmed, especially given that the meal was double the price of what we paid anywhere else in Capetown - and had better meals! We wouldn’t be back, it was very disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Food and Convenient
We had a wonderful dinner ! We were staying at the One & Only so this was very convenient for us. We started with delicious shrimp, teriyaki and enough to share. My husband had wonderful chicken served in a pot with vegetable. I had the lamb chops. They were lean, tender and really good. For dessert my husband had ice cream and I had a fabulous chocolate mousse in a cappuccino cup, complete with foam in the top. We have never been to Nobu before as we don’t like sushi, or raw food. This was great and so convenient to guests of the hotel. I would recommend
Be the first to ReplyFood good but……
The food was great, the staff were great, but the music was inter dispersed with Ibiza type music, which may be great on a Spanish island , but not in The One and Only Cape Town, so i am not sure what image they are trying to create, but it didn’t suit me.

Having been to Nobu all over the world expecting great food we found the service rushed and the level of food well below our previous Nobu experiences

Waiters were excellent. The menu however was good but not superb. We visit Nobu around the world, but for Capetown you simply have better places to go… places with less expectations but with better food. Good but menu can have an upgrade.
Be the first to ReplyNobu a touch of class
Nobu was right up Miss Gucci's Street. She is used to the finest things in life and the food and ambience was exquisite. In the heart of a very fancy hotel, Miss Gucci felt right at home. The steak and lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned. The waiter , Sky added to the experience. Helping to choose the right dishes and fine wine to accompany the food. The experience was also very reasonably priced. All coning to under £100. This made Miss Gucci's partner very happy as in London the price would be north of £300. Would highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Japanese-styled restaurant!
There are Nobu’s elsewhere, but this was my first. Excellent plates, greatly prepared and served like pieces of art. One of the best Japanese cuisine experiences I ever had. However, it wasn’t completely perfect due to an issue at the restrooms with a staff member being really way too much at service, clearly exaggerating with the soap and towel aid, … while the floor around the toilet I had was absolutely not clean and that for some time as it was partially dried up… A colleague confirmed having the same experience and the second time I went to the restroom I took the disabled one to avoid that person in the men’s room… Please just instruct him not to overdue and to also keep the floor around the toilets clean. That, together with the slightly missing finishing touch on the palate for the food, didn’t make me giving a 4, but I was in doubt…
Be the first to ReplyOur first experience of a Nobu and hopefully not our last.
Stepping down into this restaurant the decor is as enjoyable as the food, the collective chant by the staff when walking to your table is the declaration of a truly wonderful food experience… The food tastes as good as it looks, the staff are attentive and informative, everything about our visit oozed style and a touch of class. We highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy high end Asian cuisine. Hopefully not our last Nobu experience.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, good service and great decor.
We enjoyed our meal here. The service was very pleasant albeit a couple of minor mistakes made. The food was very good. The ambience and decor is excellent. Would recommend. Particularly recommend the Beef Tenderloin Chimichurri and the Rcok Shrimp Tempura.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Nobu
Despite our not great experience with the Hotel, we found Nobu as usual with a great standard. What is good with the Nobu organisation is no matter in which country you are it is always a great experience in food wine cocktails and service. Very elegant crowd and good music . Well done

My wife and I, who are on our honeymoon, were looking forward to having dinner at nobu, after all it is one of our favorite restaurants and we have been to several around the world, but the experience was disappointing! First they put us at a table behind a column, hidden and it was difficult for them to come and serve us, service that was terrible from beginning to end We ordered the “tasting menu” and it was even more disappointing, even small portions for nobu standard, one of the fish that came arrived SPOILED, yes, my wife felt sick afterwards! And in the end we ordered with Kobe and simply after waiting a long time, they forgot to bring us Kobe! They were going to move on to dessert! Superb service! It's not NOBU standard! High point for dessert, this one was nobu standard!

We were disappointed with our meal here. The food was very average and not cheap for what you order (we ordered some tempura vegetables and literally got two small pieces which looked ridiculous on a large white plate). There are a lot better restaurants in Cape Town!

Excellent food and service and having dined at other nobu’s this for me was the best . Great surroundings and a thoroughly enjoyable evening
Be the first to ReplyBit of a LOW here
1. Cocktails are automatically charged at double TOT's here - unless the client requests a single shot - How is the client to auto know this? ordered a cocktail and when the bill came - it showed 2 cocktails when I queried was told it is automated and a double tot is charged. 2. Ordered an earl grey tea - understand its japanese and not on the menu - It was the response that floored us. In a world where the reception lobby is a flight of stairs and was happy to sign seperate bill - this was not possible - when the manager came he too found this option difficult and declined. We were staying in the hotel. Cest la vie....

Having never eaten at Nobu before we felt that this was a good place to try. Lovely ambiance, great service from the staff, lovely food.
Be the first to ReplyGreat fish but terrible Wagyu Steak .
Went to Nobu (in the One and Only Hotel) for 25th Wedding anniversary. Ordered some sushi for appetizer and it was great. My wife ordered Seafood Toban Yaki and she loved it. My son and I ordered Australian Wagyu grade 9 (best beef possible) and it was very tough and difficult to chew. The manager came by and replaced it but it was equally difficult to chew. She was very nice and credited both beef meals. The manager did bring us a Wedding Anniversary plate (bit of sorbet, mouse and a strawberry). Dessert was great. I had the chocolate cream tart (round ball of chocolate over which they poured hot chocolate which melted to outer shell exposing ice cream). Service was good but really slow. We can't blame the chef for the tough meat but rather the supplier of that meat. The restaurant was ripped off. The steak at the Spur was softer than this.

Did the omakase and it was incredible. Service was attentive but not overbearing and the food was simply amazing. Every dish was unique and well thought out. The restaurant was not very busy so the environment was nice and relaxed too. Flawless experience would highly recommend! Some people seem to go into this thinking the omakase is going to be just sushi, however this is not the case and it is a regular tasting menu. If you go into the experience aware of this I promise you won't be dissapointed!
Be the first to ReplyA jewel in the Nobu empire
I have been to many Nobus around the world and have generally always had a good experience. Cape Town while nothing special from my other experiences, was good. New style sahimi, beef takati, salmon tacos and crupsy nice were all very good. We didn't know what cocktail we wanted, the bar tender came over, asked what we wanted and brought us a lovely Sake cocktial. It was top. If you are in Capetown, do not miss out.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not the best
The name sells this place, bit too pretentious for us, as full of people on their phones taking photos of their 1 dish they ordered.....

Frankly, don’t know where to start. Haven’t been in a Nobu for a few years, and was really looking forward to the one in Cape Town. What can I say, shocking! The food was below mediocre. Nothing tasted “Nobu-ish”. I would have like to share some positive feedback on at least one dish we ordered - and we ordered a lot! On top of that, the service was hmmm. It felt as if the staff, who were extremely polite, could not be bothered. In a nutshell, this is probably the last time I will step in a Nobu.
