Honestly "not" what it's hyped up to be
We have heard mixed reviews about this restaurant and decided we should try it out. We arrived at 10:00 AM July 2nd. To start the young lady who lacked any charm at the entrance told us she only had one table left in the sun and if we didn't want it then it would be about a half hour wait. There was a table in the shade but she said they were holding it for someone. We sat in the sun and both ordered the classic breakfast with bangers. I was looking forward to pancakes but they weren't on the menu and was told I could order the side at $8.00 per pancake which I didn't do because I usually like three. When our order arrived we were surprised to see what was on the plates. Two eggs, two sausages that looked like the ones you get at Superstore or Walmart, potato wedges like the frozen ones you can buy by the bag and one thin slice of toast, no frills like a slice of orange or tomato. We asked for jam for the toast and were brought two little packs of Kraft jam like you get at McDonald's. I think because after reading all the raves about this place we had higher expectations. We have honestly gotten better food, value and service at less known about restaurants than this one. The service was just so, so. The table we sat at in the sun was at an angle and I had to hold onto my plate so it wouldn't slide onto my lap. The bill with tip came to $45.00.

Faultless, canโt praise this place enough for the lovely service and wonderful food. Great variety on the menu and good veggie & and vegan options The coffee is absolutely delicious! Good value for money and lots of side dishes to choose from. We will definitely be going back.

This restaurant is excellent for breakfast and brunch with your friends, co-workers, and your family. Our large group of support team coworkers went for our team appreciation breakfast. They were able to accommodate us even for a group of 27 with a little date and time compromise. They were quick and courteous in taking orders and our meals came at a reasonable pace. Everyone enjoyed their meal selection and had a good time.
Be the first to ReplyA great place for breakfast or lunch.
I had the pleasure of trying out the new OEB Breakfast place in Burnaby. Let me start off by saying that I am not a breakfast person so we met with friends at 11:30 am. It is a great location, love the decor and the vibe when you enter the restaurant. The staff were so friendly and made you feel welcomed. I decided to have the bagel with heirloom tomato, avocado and fior di latte (cheese). It was excellent. The others also enjoyed their meal (they were more breaky people). I would return again as there were so many other food items I would love to try on their menu!

I have been going to their yaletown location but suggested to a friend let's try their newer Burnaby location. For the very first time I managed to order the limited lobster crepe. OMG, so good. They have so many brunch options it is mind blowing.

After waiting for over 2 hours to even sit down and another hour to receive the food, Iโve got to say that itโs not worth it! The service is that of a turtleโs pace. Which is probably why we waited two hours for a table. The food is okay, nothing thatโs โWOW OMGโ Itโs basically breakfast. Donโt believe the hype!!

Be the first to ReplyGreat Croque Madame! ...the lineup was crumby
I'd heard good things about this chain. There are several locations in Greater Vancouver (I went to the one in Burnaby) They don't take reservations. SIGH. I signed in on the virtual wait list from home and was told it would be 60-75 minutes to get in. OK, fine. Went and picked up my friends and we drove over. We had to *pay* to park in the Brentwood Mall Parkade!! OK, noted. Got there at the 60 minute mark and were told it would be about half an hour. Grumble Spoiler alert - it was over 2 hours before the three of us got a seat. Which left us standing on a concrete sidewalk under the Skytrain line on a major road literally cooling our heels. Bit of a bummer way to start the experience, to say the least. The staff were great about it and said that they were having troubles with the app used to cue people up. I really hope they fix this system as this would be number one reason to never come back. The menu was impressive. The kitchen staff knew their stuff. The service was pretty good! How was the food and drink? My friend liked her hot chocolate. We had coffee (Caffe Umbria) - not a flavour favourite for me. Perhaps will get an espresso drink next time. My Croque Madame was amazing! Best I've had in Canada. Would get again, for sure! One of my friends had the Threesome! Breakfast with chicken blueberry sausages, crepes and poached eggs (you get to choose the style of eggs, meat and side). She liked it! My other friend had one of the bennies and it was decent.

What do you expect when planning to grab some yummy breakfast outing at this neat and famous place which sports the tag line "Fill the soul" and delivers on its promise too?! Being put on an hours-long waitlist, of course! And getting in by lunch time - if you're lucky, that is!! So, imagine our surprise when we managed to get a coveted table immediately when we walked in here for brunch about a month ago! It being a rainy weekday morning probably helped, and this turned out to be the perfect way to celebrate our move to our new home in Burnaby! Though we took off with the Mimosa flight, what have us a high we're the Rosemary G&T and the Monte Cristo (Kahlua, Grand Mariner, fresh brewed coffee) - just what the doctor ordered for the cold day! When finalizing the food, we felt lucky again when we were informed that there was only one last Lobster & Shrimp Crepe available, and we ordered it right away! Along with it, wegot the Korean-inspired Bulgogi Benedict from the specials for the day, and both of these dishes were delish! Coming to desserts, it's hard to miss the "Do NOT Even Go There", and ordering it was a no brainer (it comes highly recommended by the staff too!). Don't ask me how it was because I'll be forced to reply "Do NOT Even Go There"! The place is always busy but the tables feel spaced out because of the separators, and the ambience is lively with good music. We received top-notch service and great recommendations from Cassie and Ayushi. Not sure if we'll ever again be able (read, have the patience) to grab a seat here, but glad that we got to have this experience to celebrate a special occasion! Pro-tip: Try to make reservations at least 2-3 hours in advance, else be prepared for a longer-than-long wait!
Be the first to ReplyGreat service. My wife's meal was very disappointing.
This was our first time at OEB. Our server Tuyet was amazing. My meal the Cluck Norris was awesome. My wife ordered the Benny Florentine. The salad she got was overly sweet. The Gluten free muffin was stale and over cooked. It was really hard to cut. I had brought my wife here for her birthday and was disappointed her meal turned out to be so bad.

Finally, we got a table โฆ. We have been waiting it for months โฆ always a long queue of people waiting to be seated. No matter we arrived today Sunday Sep 5 at 8:30AM we had struggles to register for a table . This first day at job girl got confused and sat down two groups before us no matter we were first in line!!! UNFAIR โฆ. Better training for her please!!! But the good part started when we got our table . Olivia approached us with the best customer service skills I havenโt experienced in ages!!! Good looking girl, gentle, courteous , diligent and so welcoming with her suggestions and service manners. Honestly , we had a click and my frustration disappeared instantly. The ambience is so cozy but busy โฆ. This is good, the menu is great with a lot of choices , the food is really good and we had a culinary blast . We were a party of 3 and we ordered 2 classic breakfast and pierogis & duck โฆ. All succulent , well presented and delicious , generous portions and very affordable . Honestly is a great place to be visited back !!!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Gluten Free Brunch
A group of 3, all celiacs, visited this location for brunch. It's always busy, lines can be long so worth trying to get a reservation if possible. We sat outside, patio is right on the highway so not the best atmosphere and can be loud, but the staff worked hard to please. The interior of the restaurant is bright and clean but very long and narrow so might not work well for larger groups wanting to eat together. Extensive menu of brunch and lunch items, almost all of which can be made gluten free (though their menu doesn't reflect this). Staff were attentive, knowledgeable about ingredients/allergens/cooking requirements and food arrived promptly once ordered. A fun spot for lunch with family or friends
