Excellent Dinner Out with the Family
Just finished dinner. Outstanding home made pasta. Top notch cocktails . Two thumbs up and highly recommend. Not much more needs to be said
Be the first to ReplyGive the Bar Back a promotion!
Great experience with the limited staff we encountered. We were basically ignored for the first 30 minutes at the bar - but once the bar back started taking care of us it was a great experience and he checked on us regularly. The bartender literally never spoke to us or looked our way - he needs to go - for such a highly rated restaurant I was surprised by this being allowed. The servers were rude to one another - loudly chided each other - it was pretty unprofessional. Give the bar back a raise and a promotion. He was the only one who did his job well. Food was great - tasty. The caccio Pepe was underwhelming - split - and seemed as if they used Alfredo instead of just Parmesan….branzino was EXCELLENT. salad also great.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food
We enjoyed having lunch at this restaurant. Food was super delicious and service was superb. Children had a couple of choices with no problem. The area is newly renovated and it’s beautiful to walk by the wharf after lunch.
Be the first to ReplyCan't wait to go back
Sat outside facing the wharf, had the most amazing asparagus salad ever, followed by way-excellent pasta. Was not rushed, would definitely return. Not a lot of pasta options for vegetarians, but for a once-in-a-while visit, there's enough.
Be the first to Replyoverpriced kids meal + average everything
The food, service, drinks were meh. Nothing was noteworthy. Found the 20% service charge when the bill seemed inflated. $19 for a kids spaghetti with tomato sauce was offensive.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, great people
We held a large family dinner here with a menu we'd decided in advance so I can't fully judge the restaurant, but the food was excellent and the staff so accomodating that I can only imagine it's equally good. It's also a lively part of town to wander around in.
Be the first to ReplyJust OK (except the Cannoli)
I ate a multi-course meal at Officina for a work event and expected the type of lavish and indulgent dining experience I've had at other Wharf restaurants, but came away really underwhelmed. The decor of the restaurant is industrial chic rather than fancy Italian as suggested by the name. The salad was...a salad with some greens. The steak was...fine, no real seasonings, not juicy or flavored, just a steak. The sides were some potatoes, which were also...decent. The only item I really loved here was the Cannoli, which was flakey and crispy on the outside with a delicious filling. I couldn't see a reason to select Officina over any number of much better Italian restaurants in the area.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre food, poorly trained staff
We had a weekend lunch, it was our third visit and not going back. Management should be questioning how the place is run. Poorly trained wait staff, inattentive, unfriendly and no knowledge of the menu.Really disappointing food quality.Bought a couple of items at the market/food store and again no knowledge of the food and poor training.
Be the first to ReplyJust MEH
We ate here recently and the service was okay the meatballs were edible. The pasta we ate as a second course was a weird texture and very sloppy plus there was a hair in mine. We only had meatballs and pasta dish which were very small - a glass of wine and a beer and the bill was an eye watering $125 where do these lot get off ripping customers off plus there was a mandatory 20% service charge which wasn't worth it for sure. Avoid avoid avoid.

Food was overpriced...very small portion...food was salty! Took a very long time before the food was brought to our table
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced, Mediocre Italian Food
I would not recommend this restaurant. Everything about my experience with this restaurant suggests that it’s management does not value its customers. It starts with a requirement to pay a $15 deposit per person to make a reservation. I visited during Restaurant Week and it was only after we arrived at our table that we were advised that the only option was the prix fixe restaurant week menu along with a warning that no sharing is allowed. To be fair, after checking with the manager our server confirmed that we were not required to buy a 3-course meal for our two kids, but the $19 pasta in plain tomato sauce that they offered instead is overpriced.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed and embarrassed I recommended it
A very disappointing and embarrassing experience. I had been to officina once before on an empty weeknight for light food and drinks and it was lovely, it came recommended by friends. I’ve never felt the need to to write a bad review, but if you’re looking for a nice place to impress your friends with food and ambience, don’t go here. Shocking, considering the prices. I hope this can be resolved so others may have a better experience. I recommended dinner here for my party of five on a Saturday. We were seated on the first floor cafe. We were an easy going group, the service was reasonably timed but the waiter was not helpful with recommendations and unprofessionally anxious . Our entrees were cold and disappointing. Two people had the clams pasta, which came with only four clams each and half were unopened and therefore inedible. Lobster ravioli was almost inedible and food preferences were ignored. We should’ve returned the food but were so shocked by the poor quality of the other pastas that we didn’t have time. Multiple order mistakes were made as well, causing a longer wait timeS
Be the first to ReplyTerrible
This restaurant has a great spot on the wharf, but misses the mark with their food. We ate as a family of four and ordered 4 different pasta entrees. Unfortunately, the entrees lacked in flavor and substance resulting in a very disappointing meal. The presentation of each was underwhelming and we left hungry. I’m not sure how this restaurant will survive in an area with lots of competition.
Be the first to ReplyDo not eat here
Portions are small barely enough for a child even though it is an “adult” size. Bad value half price Wednesday equals 1/8 of a normal restaurant portion. Don’t be fooled worst experience ever!!
Be the first to ReplyIt was an OK visit
We came here as a group of 4 on a Friday evening for dinner… The staff was friendly in greeting and seating us and we loved the venue, very nicely decorated with the glass-walled wine cellar. We found plenty of interesting drinks in their cocktail list and wine list and definitely tried something from both lists! The server we got was decent, but not very friendly nor communicative, but the somm was borderline rude with the attitude we picked up on, similar to pretentiousness. But, we got past that and enjoyed the food and conversation.
When it came to the food… this was one of the better steaks I’ve ever had! Two of us shared the huge, bone-in rib eye (I think it was 29oz) and it was done perfectly! The marrow-based sauce was very tasty and the fingering potatoes were outstanding!
The only food item we didn’t care for was the dessert, it was too sweet and hard and not very impressive.
But overall, for $700 for 4 of us, it was nice to try Officina, but way over-priced and the next time I’m in this area, I might try something else, since there are so many options.
Drag Brunch!!!
Went to a drag brunch here hosted by logan stone and mama naytch and it was an absolute blast!!!! They are there every third sunday of the month so if youre available you should definitely check it out!!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat dining experience at a great price!
I love looking for a Michelin star restaurant whenever I visit a new city and I wanted to treat my daughter to a great meal while in DC area. Officina didn’t disappoint at all, it surpassed my expectations and even a better treat to visit on Wednesday pasta day when I got mine for $11.00! Took some photos of my meal but photos can’t do justice to explain the thrill my tastebuds had experienced. Topped of dinner with the tiramisu, love the extra crunch on top. Will be a repeat visitor when I come back to visit my daughter at Georgetown.
Be the first to ReplyPost-Pandemic Shutdown Officina is a GREAT Disappointment
Before the Pandemic, Officina was consistently a place to get a very good meal. But the Officina that has emerged from the Pandemic shutdown is not even a pale shadow of its former self. Previously, Officina offered a wide selection of small plates to kick off your dinner along with a number of good anti-pasta dishes. Not anymore unfortunately. You basically get a choose-your-own charcutier-type plate or a limited number of anti-pastas. We decided to go with a tried-and-true Fritto Misto plate. What we got was an over-fried mass consisting of shrimp, minuscule squid rings (so small they would be difficult to slip over a child’s finger), and barely distinguishable pieces of zucchini and onion cooked in oil which tasted like it should have been changed days before. With a barely eaten plate on the table, the server asked whether everything was okay. When told the dish was over-fried, she replied that she would let the chef know, but nothing else was done. The pasta dishes that followed did not improve things. The black squid ink pasta with crab had little taste and was badly in need of some black ink sauce and crab that tasted like crab. The veal ravioli was over-cooked and served in a sauce that tasted more like sauerbraten than any kind of Italian sauce we have ever had. To top things off, the table service was slow and spotty, which made it difficult to swallow the 23 percent service charge automatically tacked on to the bill. Overall, it was a night definitely not to be remembered.
Be the first to ReplyNot Michelin worthy
Unfortunately, the food was not Michelin worthy nor edible. We ordered several dishes and they all dropped the ball. Go for the drinks, the view....but this place needs work. The food needs an upgrade, and the music needs to change drastically.
Be the first to ReplyA disappointing second dinner
In mid-May, my wife, 3 other people and I went to Officina just as DC was reopening. The dinner was disappointing. We were seated in a space outside the main dining room that was better suited to a school caf than an upscale restaurant. To be fair, there may still have been a 4 person limit on the main room’s tables, as at some other DC restaurants. Service was very slow, and mostly handled by a manager. I get that places have challenges re-staffing. I had fritto misto for my first course. It tasted okay, but the presentation was a jumbled pile that looked as if it were from a not-so-good clam shack. A main course of branzino was better, but didn’t compare to the same dish I had there previously. My daughter was served a main course she didn’t order. She ordered a simple pasta with guanciale. It took about 20 minutes to get her the correct dish, by which time the rest of us were done. We didn’t stick around for dessert. Officina has strengths to draw on, including a great Wharf location and a cool, multi-tier, multiple function space. If it doesn’t get its post-pandemic issues sorted out, I am not sure it will make it.
Be the first to ReplyIt just kept getting worse
Horrible service from beginning to end. I couldn’t even get the check quickly. Three requests before we got water. Risotto palpably bad. Other Food passable but not great. But at least they never showed us the check and added gratuity before we could do anything. I understand that COVID has been a burden on all, but They clearly do not have the ability to be open yet or at all.
Be the first to ReplyWorst experience ever
Me and my son were eating when we overheard the manager (Nick) being completely unprofessional to a table seated near us. I can't believe that's how customers are treated at this establishment. Disgusting! Lost my future business.
Be the first to Replylove the market
This place is HUGE! several outdoor options. The menu is pretty good, but i was floored, by the first floor. The market is incredible, the bar menu is fantastic and the drinks are great. My advice is skip the top floors and spend your time and money on the first floor and bring home dinner and snacks!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible experience
I ate there with my boyfriend and two other couples for restaurant week on Friday, and it was an absolutely horrible experience. I was very surprised, as I have had only good experiences before, so I was looking forward to dining there. I had friends in town and was actually embarrassed at the end of the meal that they were paying what they did for what they got.
Ironically, we were told when we sat down that we were limited to two hours. Little did we know it would take over three hours to be served, none of which was due to us.
1. The service was perhaps the worst I have ever gotten at a restaurant. Our first round of drinks took nearly 40 minutes. We were not brought bread. Our first course took 50 minutes. This was a LIMITED MENU, I do not understand what could have possibly taken so long, as the restaurant was nearly empty.
2. I had the crostini to start- it was so burnt, it actually cut the roof of my mouth.
3. The steak was bland and tough, and rare at best, despite ordering medium rare to medium.
4. We were told we could not have more than two drinks on the table at a time, which I know for a fact is not true, given that I have lived in Washington for 15 years.
5. All of the portions were very small.
6. We were charged an automatic 23% gratuity, more than the 20% we were expecting and certainly much more than the server deserved.
I hope this review can save at least one person from wasting their money!
