Orlove glave Bohinjska Bistrica Reviews from The Last Year
Horrible queue, ok skiing.
I would not recommend skiing in this resort. The queues are insanely long for mediocre slopes. Even when arriving early in the morning, you still have to wait for 2+ hours just to get close to the upper station of the gondola. Also when going down around 16:00 the queue is another 2 hours. Additionally, queues for other chairlifts are quite long and it should be expected to wait 30 minutes. Over a 7-hour ski day, I got around to about 5 slopes (lunch break included). However, the views over Triglavski park and Lake Bohinj are amazing and the slopes are of ok quality for the current snow conditions in the Alps. Lastly, the food and drinks are quite affordable compared to other ski resorts.
Do Not Reccomend
The skiing itself is very fun but that doesnt matter when you have to wait 3 hours in line to get to the top because they dont want to make a new gondola. The line goes all the way down to the parking, the ski lifts are from the stone age and the food is not good while it costs five times what it should. Do not reccomend, go to austria or italy or another resort like Cerkno, Mariborsko Pohorje or Krvavec in Slovenia.
One of the worst ski resort in the Alps
The Alps are beautiful and also nature at Vogel is wonderful. Unfortunately here the positive ends. Already at the parking you are confronted with rude employees. If a private driver or taxi wants to drop skiers at the bottom station he is not allowed. Rude employees divert the car to a far away parking lot to drop skiers off for them to wait for busses that drive very irregularly. After waiting for the bus even if you had a private driver bringing you to Vogel the real waiting begins. The line to get to CableCar is enormous and stretches far onto the parking lot. After a long time when you arrive to the slopes you can enjoy the Alps. There are not many steep slopes but if you are a beginner you will enjoy the natural snow. There is no artificial snow so some best slopes are closed. For returning you have to expect a long wait to return to the valley, but at least you private driver can come to pick you up since there are nobody more at the road to divert them. For conclusion we will avoid Vogle in the future.
Thumbs down...
Slovenia is a very nice country. However, I would not recommend anybody to visit Vogel ski centre. First, it is comparatively pricey (in terms of both the price of the lifts and ski rental equipment). Secondly, the small gondolas that take you to the lifts (and back to the car park) depart every 30 minutes, which is rather frustrating, even for the locals, mainly because they don’t have a suitable waiting area. Thirdly, some of the tracks are remarkably boring. They’re not designed to ski, but to walk. Fourthly, the lift operators appear to be in their own world. They’re not paying attention to what’s going on, and some of them are nowhere to be seen, thereby compromising the safety of the little skiers. Fifthly, there’s little to do in the area and, therefore, if the weather changes, you’ll be literally stuck in the middle of nowhere. Just to be clear, Slovenia is a really beautiful country, but it is definitely not a good ski destination. You will no doubt be able to spend exactly the same amount of money (and even less) skiing somewhere else in Europe, where there are numerous ski destinations to choose from.
Beautiful scenery
Excellent scenery at the top, a winter wonderland. Be mindful it’s a cable car ride to the top (takes about 5 minutes). The view at the top was well worth it with a lovely restaurant. Wrap up warm as it’s about -1. Lovely but a little bit on the pricier side (€29 per person for a return)
Far too overpriced
We couldn't believe the cost for this experience - €29.50 per adult return. I would expect a daypass for this price. It's just a 4.5 minute cable car ride. At the top you can also use the chairlifts (these were not manned although only one was in operation). There was little to do at the top except for walk around and see a few small goats. Sadly we found the admission prices in Slovenia to be much higher than some other countries that border it. I came 18 years ago and it was very good value back then. However, things have changed a lot and we decided to give several things a miss. We did do this one, although having paid nearly €60 for two adults it was not worth it.
Very overpriced
Extremely overpriced! 29€ for a return ticket for a gondola? It was definitely the most expensive attraction we visited. For comparison, the whole ticket to the UNESCO Škocjan caves is 24€. Other than that, the ride was smooth and the views beautiful and the hike to Vogel was also great, but if you don’t have time to kill, maybe go see other attractions in the Triglav National Park.
Stunning
Got the bus from Bled to about 300 metres away from entry place to cable car. €29.50 return for an adult. Stunning trip up the side of mountain up to the ski area or walking tracks in Summertime. Walked around, admired the views, had coffee and imagined what it would be like covered in snow in Wintertime! Beautiful! Hint! Sit on right hand side of bus to admire stunning views of Lake Bohinj.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
