OXO Tower Restaurant London Reviews from The Last Year
Fab
Fab lunch today for first visit to the Tower. Had the set menu which was great especially the Margherita cocktail! Lovely staff & good attention to detail. Very happy.
Average
My partner booked this restaurant for Valentine’s Day and we opted for the set Valentine’s menu. The food was okay but didn’t feel worth the price. The steak and potatoes were the only items I enjoyed. The starter and the dessert was below average. As a seafood lover, I was very disappointed with my starter although it was visually pleasing. There was also a pianist but barely played any piano. The view however, was beautiful but I wouldn’t go back.
Shocking service, better places to visit in London!
Myself and 3 friends visited for afternoon tea on a beautiful Saturday to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food was good, the service was absolutely shocking. We sat at our table for nearly 2 hours and no one approached our table to see how we were once the afternoon tea had been served. Our water glasses were not topped up, no extra tea offered even though this was part of the package and no drinks order. The restaurant was full of staff just standing around either chatting to one another or staring out the window. I have never experienced something so poor in a high end establishment. They knew it was a birthday celebration but no recognition at all which you would get in other restaurants in London. When it came to leave we just left as we had left our card details when booked. We managed to get to the lift when a man in suit asked if we could settle our bill! I think this was the first time someone had actually spoken to us. When we returned to the desk to pay we explained our absolutely disappoint with the service and gave our reasons - he removed the service charge, said sorry about that and thanks for the feedback and that was it!!!!! . Will not be returning.
Disappointing: great view but the waiters lack charm and manners
Disappointing. Thoroughly surly and disengaged waiters. Draughty (all those smokers on the terrace leave the door open!). And, for what we had (two drinks) very expensive. Thank heavens the view is good. We both agreed this once heavenly venue has gone down hill. Won’t be back soon.
Best place to eat!
Thank you to the team at OXO Tower Brasserie for looking after our party of 8 which included some visitors from New Zealand. Excellent food, beautifully presented and exceptional service from all the staff. Together with lovely views across the Thames River and perfect live background music, on a Sunday, we will definitely be going back.
Is the oxo brasserie on its last legs?
I have been coming for years every time my family and myself are in town. I have not had brilliant experiences lately but last time I went it was seriously bad. The warm welcome is no longer an option, the service is disinterested. Oxo Brasserie is no longer the vibrant busy place it used to be . Prices have gone up and this is not justified. Snacks are just there to add an extra £10 to £15 pounds to your bill but the portions and ingredients do not justify it. Sharing plates are good but way over priced. Toilets are worst than the ones in some pub… When I expressed my disappointment the only thing the manager could say to justify my comments was that OXO is under new management . They’d better sort out the place quickly as the dining area was very quiet , not to mention the bar full of staff but with no customers
Birthday meal in the Brasserie.
From the moment we arrived to when we left we were treated splendidly. The food was delightful - the tiny vegetables on top of the ravioli was genius and the celebratory birthday cake delicious. Loved the skull champagne shot glass! Highly recommend. Excellent value.
Fantastic Experience!
We had a fabulous time at OXO Tower Brasserie! I hosted my girlfriends there, who were joining me on their first trip to London and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, every single member of the staff made us feel like honored guests. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. To add to this, I received a lovely follow up email from Anna after our visit. This was such a nice personal touch, and just speaks to their emphasis on the guest experience. Thank you Anna and team!
Lovely meal overlooking the Thames
We were a group of 5 for dinner. The menu was well priced - I had the tuna to start and the lamb shoulder for mains, and both meals were outstanding. The building and setting is fairly plain but the live music and a lovely view of the city including St Paul’s Cathedral contributed to super evening.
Expensive for food that's just "nice "
Thought it was quite expensive for what it was. Call me old fashioned but £26, for TWO scallops, yes TWO. as a starter is a joke. Service was great and food "nice" but wouldn't rush back.
Everything was perfect
The service and food was simply sensational and we was delighted to be in this amazing restaurant!! Best steak and service I have had in a very long time and so nice to see the chefs and workers running around equating and serving the best service and food definitely giving a big *****- Thank you ☺️
Not up to previous standards.
I have visited the Brasserie many times over the last 20 years and have always had a great experience. It’s one of my go to places to take friends from out of town as the views over London are spectacular. On last nights visit though the views were the only positive. After arriving on time for an 8pm booking we did not receive our main courses till 9.50. This was only after I had asked the Maitre’d what was happening. By this time the restaurant was emptying and all atmosphere was gone from the room. The food was very lacklustre and uniformly tepid and nothing like the excellent quality previously enjoyed. I got the feeling it had been forgotten and was sitting around somewhere. The maitre’d who was apologetic explained that the restaurant is under new management which is certainly no improvement. To be fair he did not charge for one bottle of wine, which was appreciated but we drank far more wine than we usually would while waiting for such a long time. I don’t imagine I will eat there again as even if the service had been better the changes to the menu and poor quality of the food mean I can no longer recommend the brasserie. If you want to enjoy the view I would just come in for a drink.
Excellent food and vibe. Thoroughly recommend
Excellent food and service with fantastic views. Highly recommend. Throw into the mix live music and what more do you need?
Glorious Saturday evening
We had a delightful evening at the OXO Tower, sipping champagne as the sunset painted the sky. The nibbles, from padron peppers to arancini balls, were a treat, matched only by the fantastic service. We're already looking forward to returning for dinner, eager to relive the charm. The staff even helped us charge our phones which was really nice. Definitely returning!
Afternoon Tea
Booked the Afternoon Tea prior to my visit to London. Came a little bit early but no problems in altering my reservation, very helpful reception. I had a look at the wonderful view and then my table was ready. The Afternoon Tea arrangement was delicious- can definitely recommend it - there’s plenty of great food and sweets . And the service was amazing- very helpful and smiling people serving you. Next time I go to London, I’ll definitely try this place again.
ENTHUSIASM AND EXPERTISE.
My son and I stopped here for mother's day in the middle of a culture packed day. On the train going home we both agreed that the cocktails up in the sky were the highlight of our day. Although we had experienced this before, we had never met as enthusiastic a cocktail expert as Amien, who, when we were struggling to decide from the vast list, asked for all our favourite tastes and returned with something new and delicious. His stories were funny and fascinating and really meeting him was more valuable than the actual cocktails!
Best view of London with great food thrown in.
Had the best risotto I have had in a long time, staff were very helpful and the view was amazing. The extensive wine list is also well worth sampling.
Fabulous Visit
What a fabulous experience we had at the Oxo Tower Restaurant. We were there to celebrate not only our anniversary, but to wish our daughter well in her first half marathon. The whole experience was 10/10, from the booking process, to the view, the fabulous food and wonderful welcoming staff. We will be back. Thank you for an exceptional visit.
Another wonderful dinner
As always, the entire team was supremely professional, and the entire experience fabulous. We always visit when in town and it is a highlight of our stay. Thanks again!
A truly wonderful experience regarding the place, service and especially the food.
This was the first time we have been to the OXO TOWER . What a lovely, welcoming and clean place this is . We were treated to afternoon tea as an anniversary present by my son and will certainly be returning again. The food and cakes were delicious and it was nice to try something different. The service from staff was impeccable and very attentive to our needs whilst there.
Lunchtime meal
Saturday lunch at the brasserie. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent ambience. A great time was had, the servers were fantastic, attentive but not overbearing, knowledgeable without being pushy. The food was delicious, good portion sizes, and excellently flavoured. Cocktails very good, the gin martini was just as it should be, also a very nice Australian Penfold's red to accompany the meal. If I lived in London it would be a regular haunt. Lastly, the pricing was great, very, very reasonable indeed, very surprised upon receiving the bill. My compliments to all involved.
Nice view and pretty good food
Very pretty brasserie. A bit overpriced but you pay for the whole experience and the views are great from the balcony too. Food is up to par, what you would expect in such an establishment. Live music, although we hardly heard it.
Disappointing return to OXO Restaurant
I have enjoyed this venue previously but haven't visited for some time and was very disappointed with the latest experience. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The cocktails were also excellent. We were situated in the restaurant area for dinner. My partner enjoyed her starter but mine was tasteless, not well presented and not enjoyable. For the main we had the sharing steak at £55 per person (not including sides). The steak was dry and unappealing and I had to ask for a side of mustard to get any flavour from the experience. It is always telling when the bill arrives and on reviewing it the disappointment sets in that one could have had a much better experience at another restaurant for the same price. It was an expensive night out and it simply was not worth the cost - a great shame as there are plenty of other excellent (and similar tier) restaurants in London to try out.
Lovely birthday meal
Enjoyed the tasting menu and asked if we would prefer to have breaks in between or following on after each other, went for breaks. Not rushed. Good food. Amazing attentive staff from arrival to service to leaving. Felt very comfortable and relaxed.
Just too noisy
The food here is amazing but it's looking a bit tired and whatever you do if they try to sit you in front of the open kitchen asked to be moved straight away. The noise is unbelievable, it was loud enough to not be able to hear the person you are sitting opposite. I asked to be moved but was told the only place was near a large party of people which would be very noisy too. There is some kind of machine that they use in the kitchen that makes the most horrendous noise but we had to just put up with it which spoiled the experience, also when people's orders are ready the kitchen people clap their hands! Another great background noise. The people at the table next to us made the same complaint so I would recommend the restaurant for good food but just too noisy.
Perhaps 3 1/2 stars….
I’ve given 4 stars here but that may be generous. There’s actually not that much wrong with it but it seems to me that it should be better Our starters arrived far too quickly to have been freshly made and my crab looked like it had been sat under a hot lamp. We shared a Chateaubriand which was ok but not medium as requested and while tasty enough seemed small and perhaps not the finest cut of meat available. Our desserts looked factory made and again slightly disappointing. On a positive not, it’s not expensive for central London and especially with the views. The service was ok but not special. On the subject of the view, which is good, we were left wondering why there’s no anti reflective coating on the windows- a simple fix … Would I go again? Maybe, but there’s lots of choices so maybe not. In my view it should be way better albeit if at additional cost….
Very nice restaurant and food
Quality dishes that taste 👌 We was both impressed with OXO I had 4 course for £40 plus a drink so good prices too, nice views to top it off
Excellent Large Family Dinner
We dined at the Oxo Tower brasserie on Saturday night (as a large family party of 13) and both the food and service were excellent. We had 5 children under the age of 10 and they were welcomed from the moment we arrived with goodie bags and a great menu to choose from which contained a superb selection for young kids and was also reasonably priced - the staff were also very happy to make any modifications and we experienced some of the best service we've had in London! The live music created a special ambience and the view was beautiful. It's rare to find a restaurant that caters to the young and old in such a superb way but, we had a fantastic evening, thank you!
Excellent restaurant in a great location.
Excellent restaurant & bar at the top of the OXO Tower on the South Bank of The Thames. We were warmly greeted and staff were excellent and attentive. We ate early evening pre theatre and had a window table with excellent views up the Thames. We ate in The Brassiere, so cannot comment on the Restaurant. It was quiet when we arrived but got much busier. We would recommend booking in advance. The food was simply delicious and for this standard of eatery was good value. It has been a long time since we last ate there and we won’t leave as long before we go back (we live in the North of England, so not that easy to just pop in).
Bread was hard as a rock.
Ambience was that of an Ikea food court. Entrance was hard to find. Asked for a seat by a window, got something as close to the entrance as possible with no view :( as a solo diner I thought I'd be treated slightly better. Food was good, I went because it was a Michelin green star. I don't know if I would go back... flavors were definitely "earthier" than I would like. Mushroom steak tastes like dirt, even the dessert with passionfruit and coconut tasted like sand. Good enough to eat, I don't think I'd go back as opposed to trying somewhere new. Just not worth the price.
Never having a proper afternoon before, OXO tower has set
Never having a proper afternoon before, OXO tower has set the bar very high for any other future high-tea experience! Reservations were a must and the service went above and beyond as a high-end, fine dining experience with a view of all of London from anywhere you sat with floor to ceiling windows inside as well as balcony seating outside. Three tiers with a variety of tasty treats that are surprisingly filing. The second tier consisted of four different finger sandwiches with different fillings and bread were probably my favorite, and the honey dessert was perfect. Make sure to try several different teas since its included in the experience!
This was a great first time experience doing afternoon tea.
The restaurant was on the top floor and had windows as the walls. It was a buitiful site looking at the city of London in a 360 view. We were originally supposed to have a table outside on their patio, but the weather was looking like it was going to turn bad so they gave us a table inside so are experience wasn't interrupted while we were dining. Thunder had many different teas to choose from. I think I ended up trying five of them, each one had its own flavor profile and really changed my mind on how tea taste. One thing I wish they would have done, is asked us if we knew how to pour tea and some of the tools need to pour it. A was a little confusing for a second till our table figured it out. Each of the snacks they had each were full of flavor and each how and interesting flavor combination that all mixed well. The finger sandwich's were ok, some of the meat in a coupon of them lack flavor and didn't have a pop of flavor that I was originally expecting. Each of the desserts were good in their own right but the chocolate one was hard to eat, it was slightly odd shape so you couldn't get a good bite and just to small to fit a spoon in. The top thing for me at tea time was the scones with the 2 marmalade and jelly. The scone were perfectly done, they were nice and warm, a nice slight moist center. The original marmalade really blew my mind, it has a perfect citrus taste that was sweet which is a perfect topping on the scone. I would come back here again for another tea time to try the new menu once it rotates. This was one of my top experiences while visiting London.
Been here 2x and it's just off for some reason.
That said, given this last visit's screwups I had to give it a "Could've been better", don't recommend it and won't be back. Reasons from latest visit, in order. Drinks outside (Hot and humid): Didn't come with cocktail napkins. Drinks sweating, condensation, messy, etc. Had to ask for some, eh. App: Pork belly. Quite nice but had cherries with it. So had to expel the pit from mouth. There's no subtle or appealing way to deal with expelling food from your mouth during a meal...again eh. Side: Tomato / Onion (see pic). Nice presentation, they left out the onions. When brought to server's attention (he confirmed and was shocked, apologized). To rectify, a manager brought a side plate of plain onions (see pic), apologized and left. Obv should have taken my plate of just tomatoes and came back with the proper dish. Also, the brief interaction between myself and this mgr was slightly odd/off-putting as well but will spare the details. Dessert: Roast Peach - OK, but peach wasn't that tender at all. Was much too firm. Guest and I both agreed it was not ripe enough. Overall, except for the views and openness, it's not worth it.
Great food ambiance view .
.. scallops amazing crab starter ok ... duck breast good haddock clam chowder amazing !! And the parfait was amazing

It depends how far out in the future your reservation is. If you posted a reservation hat was 2 months out, it’s unlikely many people will view your reservation. It could also be that your reservation is just not desirable.
