I’d like to start by saying I leave a number of reviews here and hate to leave negative ones, but I call them as I see them, YMMV (your mileage may vary). This place isn’t bad but I wouldn’t call it very good either. I’ve been to a number of other Starr restaurants before and agree with those that said this is overrated. Took my family there for a last minute getaway. In general felt the food was overpriced for what it was and what I had was a bit salty. I had the NY Strip steak and asked for fries instead of the garlic spinach. Was happy they accommodated and the fries weren’t bad, but definitely on the salty side (as other reviewers had commented). But I felt the strip was a better steak than the hangar steak so went with that. Was the strip good? Wasn’t bad but also not feeling it was worth the $40 (I know they are pricier at a nice steakhouse but just wasn’t feeling it). Overall the steak was lead and had a decent flavor, but the outside charred seasoning definitely was a salt lick. Took away from the experience in my opinion (and I’m someone who is usually generously salting my steak). French onion soup was excellent though. Wife and son had the Salmon Tartare appetizer and it was so-so (we usually go for Tuna Tartare apps and this was on the just ok end). 11 year old has the cheeseburger and fries and liked it (and you should like a cheeseburger that cost $24…again a bit much for what it was . 8 year old has the spaghetti bolognese. He liked it (but he’s 8). My wife tried it and said it just wasn’t a very good bolognese. Wife’s Rose pours were a bit on the small side for wine and my Nicoise Martini was just ok. On the small side and didn’t feel that strong for $16. The free bread though was excellent. So there you have it. Just okay food in a nice location. Inside on the energetic lively side (aka noisy). 4 entrees, 2 apps, 1 cocktail and 3 glasses of wine came to just under $300 with tip. I think for same price in city you can do better. I think if they offered a children’s menu with lower priced offerings for kids would have been a little more palatable…but again, YMMV.
