I've just departed Pendry San Diego after what I can only
I've just departed Pendry San Diego after what I can only describe as a truly exceptional experience. My colleagues and I had the pleasure of staying at the Pendry San Diego, and I must say, they truly understand what it takes to create an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was transported to a world of old-world charm combined with modern sophistication. Every aspect of our stay was carefully attended to, from the turn-down service in the evening to the convenient clothing steamer provided in the room. This establishment is truly a home away from home in every way. The attention to detail at Pendry San Diego is remarkable. I felt as if I had been transported back to England, and I can confidently say that Pendry could easily be compared to the renowned Dorchester Hotel in London, as the boutique version. In fact, Pendry has raised the bar in terms of hospitality and service. Not only was I impressed, but my colleagues who also stayed at Pendry were equally spoiled by the exceptional hospitality. They are eagerly looking forward to returning and sharing the Pendry experience with their loved ones. Let's talk about the room - it was simply breathtaking! The design, the comfort, and the luxurious amenities left me in awe. Every small detail was well thought out, making my stay truly memorable. And let's not forget about the products. The quality and selection of toiletries provided were top-notch. They truly understand the importance of providing guests with the best, and it did not go unnoticed. But what truly sets Pendry San Diego apart is its amazing staff. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Sarah, Chloe, Jennifer, Bobby, the bellhops, reception, concierge, BOH, FOH, Fifth & Rose, Provisional, and The Pool House. Each and every one of them contributed to making our stay exceptional. Their warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness were truly remarkable. I'm already counting down the days until I can return to Pendry San Diego. Thank you for creating such a remarkable experience. I highly recommend Pendry to anyone seeking a truly exceptional stay in San Diego.
Be the first to ReplyI had a hard time deciding if this should be a 3 or 4 star
I had a hard time deciding if this should be a 3 or 4 star review. It wasn't awful but just not quite deserving of a 4 for me. We came here on a surprise vacation from Pack Up & Go so we didn't choose this hotel. We had a double queen room on the 4th floor. The bell service was great when we arrived & our room was ready before the standard check in time. The front desk service was very nice & explained all of the amenities. Upon getting to our room, there was a long black hair in the top drawer of the nightstand but otherwise the room appeared clean. The hallway outside our room smelled strongly of marijuana for most/all of this first day we arrived. I get that it's California but there are signs posted that it's not allowed in the rooms. I would have appreciated a couple of bottles of (free) water but everything was additional cost in the mini bar. (Additionally, there is zero room in the mini fridge for anything of your own - ie any brunch leftovers). The hotel is right in the middle of the Gaslamp entertainment district but you'll know the bars don't close until 2am because you can hear them until then - along with people & sirens. I appreciated the ease of being able to cast to the tv in the room which allowed us to watch a couple of movies on our own. The shower is weird - see photo. I don't understand this design aesthetic at all. The only other places I've seen this are in the Novotels in Taipei and Bali. At least with them, though, the curtain is on the inside of the shower. At the Pendry, the curtain is on the outside of the shower - essentially giving the shower-er no control over their privacy. It goes all the way around the shower enclosure, it's just outside the shower itself. Very weird. The beds were also pretty firm - too firm for my liking. Overall, this is a nice hotel in a great location (with the caveat above) but I might look at some of the other options in the area the next time I'm here. If you do stay here, though, check out the Gaslamp Breakfast Co across the street, you won't be disappointed! (See my review there.)

Coming from someone who has traveled across US and internationally. Convenient location, best/friendly staff. Greeted at reception w choice of wine or fruit drink. Extremely clean and modern room. Very high tech. Additional benefits if you book through Amex Plat Fine Hotels feature. All around nice experience, great views, nice pool/jacuzzi on third floor.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Pendry San Diego. Checkin was smooth and seamless with Flora. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and all the amenities you might need are provided. We had a fabulous meal at Lionfish and Yesenia took good care of us. We had drinks at 5th & Rose and Jason created some of the best cocktails we've ever had! Top notch service all around and the location is perfect. Already looking forward to our next visit.

This is the worst hotel, hospitality, and management I've ever dealt with. They were unprofessional and rude. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. Do not stay here at the location in San Diego.
Be the first to ReplyBest hotel in the Gaslamp district.
Came down here on a busy weekend for a party with some friends got stuck with the top corner floor unit

I stayed here once for a business conference at the San Diego convention center. The location within gaslamp quarters, and the location to the convention center make this a fantastic place to stay for any downtown activity. There is plenty to do in this area, and it is all easily walkable. All parking is Valet, you pull up to the curb in front, while this is great for those who are not planning on needing, or using their vehicle during their stay, its not ideal for those that need to frequently access or need use of the vehicle. The staff were highly friendly, the check in painless. The room which I had was fantastic, very clean, comfortable bed, nice large shower with glass all around. I would 100% stay here again!
Be the first to ReplyThis is our second time coming to the pendry in San Diego
This is our second time coming to the pendry in San Diego and both times were amazing. Aside from the amazing views and being right on gaslamp quarter the staff was also very friendly from the very second you walk in. My son had a tournament on Saturday and while getting our car from valet, we met Rob (who works in Valet) and my son went on to tell him about his tournament and how excited he was for it . Later in the afternoon after the tournament we saw Rob again and he inquired how it all went and my son told him how we won first place. Long story short my son walked in to our room that night to a nice surprise. Gestures like this is why I will keep coming back to the pendry . Thank you
Be the first to ReplyHad an amazing experience at the Pendry.
Amazing service from the moment I walked in (got a free welcome drink!). Room service is great and the food is hot and fresh. Would come again!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel and first class service.
From the moment our family of four plus pup walked in, the staff was super welcoming and provided us with stuffed animals for the kids and accessories for our dog. The rooms themselves are gorgeous and the pool staff is so accommodating and helpful. We had a small issue with their reservation and email confirmation system that resulted in some confusion over the billing details of our room package. But when I explained our frustration with the situation, they quickly remedied everything, for which I'm very appreciative. Boutique hotels like the Pendry San Diego really do surpass their larger, corporate counterparts in so many ways. The service is much more personalized and more consistent with a top tier luxury hotel. I enjoyed our stay overall and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Pendry to our friends and colleagues. We'll definitely be back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the San Diego Pendry hotel and I must say it was an amazing experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure I felt comfortable and taken care of throughout my stay. The rooms were beautifully designed and equipped with all the amenities one could need, including a comfortable bed and a fantastic view of the city. One of the highlights of my stay was the rooftop pool and bar, which offered breathtaking views of San Diego and was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring the city. The location of the hotel was also excellent, with many popular attractions and restaurants just a short walk away.Overall, I highly recommend the San Diego Pendry to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in San Diego. The attention to detail and exceptional service made it a truly unforgettable experience.
Be the first to ReplyIf you want to overpay for a motel stay, this is the place
If you want to overpay for a motel stay, this is the place to be. If you wish to receive poor services and be bullied by the manager, this is the place to be. It's hit-and-miss with the staff. I like the consistency of good service and a positive attitude when I spend thousands of dollars to go somewhere. The Pendry hotel should educate its staff to cater to its customer and not the other way around. I care not for your liberal oversensitive, woke movement. If you can't handle someone stating the fact that one or some of your staff members are just incompetent, then so bit. Rectify the problem. Please don't add to it. Don't be in the service industry.

I've had my eyes on this hotel for several years now and was super excited to stay there in October! It is spendy- but the location is amazing! You are close to everything and the hotel lobby, restaurants and pool are awesome! I can't rave enough about the pool, free coffee in the hotel restaurant (which we stumbled upon by surprise), and the champagne vending machine is well worth the $25-$30 we spent for the small bottle (front desk can help you get your token). We didn't eat at the restaurants (so many great options in the area)! And can't stress enough how nice it was to go from the busy street up to the pool (Saturday was pretty wild but fun with bachelor parties and music, Sunday was chill).Only negative comment (super minor and being picky) was the whole hotel is beautiful but the hallways where the rooms were didn't fit... like they skipped the details.

My congratulations to Montage International for executing such a well thought out and gorgeous property, from the prime location to the chic and well appointed rooms to the luxury amenities, they really nailed it here, hence the four stars instead of one.We unfortunately were extremely disappointed with service from the Concerige and then another employee that then overshadowed our otherwise perfect stay. We did in fact have the issue addressed after check out and the resolution and conveyance that this was not the standard was absolutely stellar from the GM.
Be the first to ReplyI've stayed at most of the note worthy hotels in DTSD.
From the new high rise by the water to high rise hotels in little Italy. By far the best service oriented, in-house amenity experience, complete food and beverage package offerings, and overall awesome vibe .... is the one and only Pendry in SD. From the moment we arrived at valet, to check in/check out, restaurant visits, amenity delivery, and gym visit, every Pendry Interaction was sincere, warm, and authentically friendly. This is something you would only find at the finest of hotels such as Four Seasons or One and Only. A few shout outs and honorable mentions to those who made our experience truly memorable:Robert at the front desk who made us feel at as if we were coming back to our second home. A true ambassador for brand. Mack for his aloha spirit during the amenity delivery. He instantly knows how to connect with hotel guests and left us feeling like an old friends catching up where we left off. Roman/Grant for their sincere well wishes and bon voyage send off with a warm invite back. The valet team aren't just tasked to fetch your car. They sincerely care about your stay and offer recommendations, help with your bags, and all without any type of expectations only to ensure your exit is just as amazing and as your entrance. I'm telling you, this type of experience is rare to come by in the world of hospitality, yet it's alive and thriving at The Pendry. Don't sleep on this property...you'll enjoy every moment.
Be the first to ReplyWhat an amazing 1st Pendry experience.
Every interaction during my Christmas stay was superb. Top notch customer service from the friendliest check in team to the doormen to the restaurants and of course housekeeping. Brendel and honestly every other employee went far and beyond to make sure I was having an exceptional time. I didn't like my drink choice and Fifth and Rose and the bartender's were determined to make it right no matter how many times it took. It seemed like everyone loves their job! Loved the shower in my room overlooking the bay and the special treats (cookies & macarons) were always a nice surprise to come back to. Most importantly, they treated my dog like royalty. A plush bed, dog bowls and a cute collar was in my room when we arrived. They also put a fridge in there when I mentioned I saved my leftovers. They anticipated my needs - a rarity! The lobby was beautifully decorated for the holidays and the ambience at night is something you see on Instagram - perfect! Valet is pretty pricey so I opted for a garage nearby. There are so many great feeds nearby and they have a really cool pub on property with games. So much fun. Ordered the breakfast pizza at Provisional everyday. Lionfish is another winner - dined there 3 times! I just felt special and welcome every day especially when you see a hot choc station! So clean and upkept to the highest standards. Thank you so much for one of my favorite trips to San Diego. I really cannot wait to return and neither can my fur baby!
Be the first to ReplyStunning rooms & views.
Whoever made the shower the centerpiece of the room is genius. One of she sexiest rooms I've ever stayed in. Can't wait to come back.
Be the first to ReplyWelcome to the Pendry Hotel.
..I stayed at the Pendry San Diego for an entire week. This is my first time at any of their properties and, overall, my experience was very pleasant, I think this is a great hotel at a very convenient location in the heart of Gaslamp. The staff are friendly and attentive to your needs (the concierge not so much. More on that later), you can tell that they are trained to ensure your experience is smooth from beginning to end.My room was on the 6th floor and I had a great view of the pool, as well as the Gaslamp neighborhood and some of the San Diego skyline. Despite the bustling of activity, this is the first hotel I stay in San Diego where I was able to have a quiet, good night sleep. Most other hotels have poor insulation and you can hear everything from the other rooms. Not this one.The room had a really nice, fully stocked self serving bar, they had a top tray with water, healthy snacks, candy, all kinds of liquor, wine, and even a "pleasure pack" and a "technology pack". The refrigerator had all kinds of juices, beer, and seltzers, conveniently priced, nothing outrageous. However, here's a tip/warning for you: All items on the bar have a sensor that detects if you grab an item. Even if you put it back, you WILL be charged for it. I had only grabbed a couple of items but my son had touched a few items, out of curiosity and I was charged for all of them (I later emailed them and they refunded those charges). They will also charge you a daily "Amenity Fee" of $36 dollars, upon inquiring I was told this fee covers a number of things they offer to you (proof that there is no such thing as a "free" lunch):- Welcome Cocktail (wasn't offered to me but I asked later. It's nothing more than a plastic cup of infused water you pour yourself, they will give you a coupon and then you can go to the bar to get your cup spiked with your favorite spirit)- Wifi- In-room Espresso Machine (they give you two espresso pods and two decaf pods every day)- Morning coffee & tea in Provisional - Access to Fitness Center - Cadillac Ride & Drive Program - UPPAbaby Stroller Program - Sector 9 Skateboard Program - Children's Amenities - Pet Amenities - Use of the business center - Turndown Service upon request - Local Calls - Printing up to 10 pages - Taylor Academy Guitar Stay and Strum Program - Shoe Shine Service - Complimentary PressReader access with over 7,000 newspapers and magazines from around the worldI am not against the $36 fee, but they are not upfront about it, so now you know... Use as many of the services they offer, because you will be charged for them anyway!I also used their spa. It's pricey but I loved it and will definitely use it again. The hotel has quite a few restaurants and bars. I only visited three, with mixed results:Lionfish Restaurant: A must (Look for my review of it)Provisional: Avoid at all costs (Look for my review of it), just go there for your free morning coffeeFifth & Rose bar: Recommended, great for a late night drink. The staff are great too.If you stay at Pendry I highly recommend you visit the "Prohibition" speakeasy (not part of the hotel), just a block and a half away, on 5th St.I feel the hotel's weakest links are the Provisional Restaurant (bad) and their concierge; she was slow to respond and not very attentive, this just based on my limited and interaction with her. The reception staff on the other hand, were awesome.Overall I feel the hotel offers a lot of value for the price and I will definitely stay here again when I come back to San Diego. I also look forward to staying at other Pendry properties in the country to see how they stack up against the San Diego one!Enjoy your stay at The Pendry Hotel.
Be the first to ReplyGreat looking hotel.
Nice accommodations, but ironically not very 'accommodating' staff. Had to stay one more night in San Diego for business. Read about this hotel, showed up to book on spot. The manager said if I book through Amex luxury hotels that I'll get perk of later check out and $100 credit. Suggested to book in computer downstairs. I did. Problem on my end was that I accidentally booked the suggested date on Amex website - the night following - instead of the day of. Found this out the error at the front desk. They said Amex being third party could cancel and change. Amex cannot bc I signed my life away with a checkbox that I didn't read.So far all of my fault, right? YesButAfter the frustrating hassle of Amex getting nowhere, I kindly explained to the front desk manager again of the snafu. I asked if there was literally anyway to switch the nights on his end. nope! Okay, fine, I don't get the program, but knowing that I have in fact booked for a night following, alway he can give me this night for free as a swap. 'No'. No 'I'm sorry, let me see what else I can do'. No expression, no explanation. The man was a cyborg. And he's a manager? How about a room upgrade? A credit? Literally ANYTHING that he can think of as a manager to keep a customer (not to be 'that guy' but I'm a television executive that books crews for long stays areas for very long shoots WHICH IS WHY IM SCOUTING this location). The guy was emotionless. Lacked any sort of problem handling. It was strange. So I guess I mimic the rest of these one stars when I say staff isn't reflecting stellar in the hospitality business. Definitely not bringing my film crew to stay here in an extended stay with this kind of 'accommodating' . There's always something that can be done. The something here was outright apathy and quite frankly rude. - sincerely a man that never writes reviews or one stars, so this clearly infuriated meSidenote: Christian the valet is the nicest and she in the hospitality fast track. He's a human being with emotion and empathy and can actually look people in the eyes! It's a real treat in comparison to my cyborg experience!

We chose Pendry for the amazing rooftop pool but got much more than expected. The staff was friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The room was clean, tastefully decorated, and had a great view of the pool and ocean. Beds and pool chairs were very comfortable. The location is excellent as well if you're looking for nightlife.

I booked 4 rooms for a 3-day stay back in Feb for my teachers and I to attend a conference in June near the SD Pendry. We booked it with a district credit card. The Pendry took the deposit from the credit card 3-days before we arrived. Once we arrived the Pendry charged my teacher's personal credit cards and not the district card for their rooms. It was noticed on Day 1. Our district secretary called the Pendry and added our district credit card for a second time. Three days later, my teachers checked out in the AM and had their credit cards charged for the full amount, including the amount previously paid as the deposit. It took another trip to Guest Services to request this was reversed and the district credit card be used. By 2:00pm, the amount minus the deposit was credited back to their accounts. We need to wait to make sure that my teachers were not charged for the deposit and that this amount was paid twice. Needless to say, my teachers and I were stressed and frustrated by this occurrence. It should not take three phone calls and three trips to the front desk to get payment cleared up. We attend this conference annually and always select to stay at the Pendry. This frustration may encourage me to look into another hotel next year.
