I've been to many Michelin starred restaurants and this
I've been to many Michelin starred restaurants and this place is solidly 1-star. It does not reach the 2-star level yet to me. Lovely restaurant and ambience. Our servers were very friendly and service overall was excellent. They spoke English too. We had the 10 course tasting menu. If you're looking for classic Italian/roman fare, this is not it. This is very seafood-heavy modern cuisine with an Italian twist. Everything was fresh and vibrant. Too many dishes to name here so I won't. Some courses had multiple items too, all unique. Most memorable were these onion cannolis and a dessert olive sorbet shaped like an olive and bursting with olive oil flavour. We were celebrating my dining partners birthday and they added a little birthday treat at the end with a candle. Much appreciated gesture, and I can't thank them enough. I would recommend this place if you are looking for modern, innovative Italian seafood for a special occasion. But this isn't for everyone.
Be the first to ReplyI really didn't enjoy the food or the ambience.
I've been to many Michelin restaurants and their food is artistic and tasty. That was not my experience at per me. The food was not anything special and the service and ambiance was just ok. Do not recommend
Be the first to ReplyWhen we visited Rome, we had to try a Michelin star
When we visited Rome, we had to try a Michelin star restaurant, and Per me came up as an option as it was easy to book. Their atmosphere and services were great, but food-wise, we loved some of their dishes, like the carpaccio, some pasta dishes made from octopus, squid, etc., and the desserts. We compliment their creative applications of Italian gastronomy with a focus on seafood. However, some of their seafood dishes, like the oyster dish and the one made from seaweed, contained fishy smell that was somewhat repulsive (But being Asian, I am used to eating freshest seafood, so maybe I have a higher standard for seafood?). Their rabbit and pigeon dishes were okay. The desserts were amazing though. I don't think we will go back, but it was a good experience we don't regret.

This was probably my second Michelin star restaurant I was fortunate to try. My friends and I came on a Thursday in the end of February, and was warmly greeted by our awesome servers, Davide and (his trainee?) Gabrielle. The chef and his team also warmly greeted us through the glass (in which you could see them in action). Service was A+.As for the food, we chose the 10 course menu. It *wasn't not* good, it was just not for me. The theme was around the coasts of Rome I think I remember it being described as. There was noodles made from octopi/squid. Definitely, the food was pretty, well thought out, and innovative. Like I said, I was looking for pasta and all the carbs and meat, and my voracious appetite was not going to be satiated with the portions (although my other two friends were satiated after). With that said, I ate all the food, enjoyed it still, and my friends and I had a lot to talk about each unique dish that the chef and the team brought out.All in all, this was definitely a great experience. Definitely worth a try if you swing by. Thank you Chef and Davide for the great experience!

Recently experienced Per me Guilio on a recent trip to Rome! There are many Michelin restaurant options in the city, so needless to say it was tough deciding. I ended up going with Per me Giulio as the reviews were consistent, the atmosphere looked romantic and modern and the price point was little more reasonable at $150 a person for the full 10 course tasting menu. You don't know what you're getting until it's in front of you and being explained. I wish I was able to see the menu, more of personal interest, excitement and guessing than concern on the menu. Regardless, all the courses were amazing. We opted to do the $90 wine pairing, as we were in Italy and on our honeymoon. Thought the wines were great, we didn't feel they added to the experience and would opt out in the future. The food was amazing, the service lovely and overall we loved our experience. We sat at a small bar looking into the kitchen, which was a very unique experience and allowed us to watch the kitchen whip up the magic. They even brought out some extra desserts for our occasion and the owner Guilio even congratulated us. I found that an impressive touch that he took the time or recognized reservation notes. The old slightly unideal experience and very small. Was they offered welcome beverages and by the way it was proposed I had assumed was part of the experience. Needless to say little surprised when I saw a 50 dollar charge for two glasses of Prosecco. I probably should have clarified, but it's not uncommon to be greeted with a glass of bubbly, especially at a high end Michelin restaurant.

Was fortunate enough to get a reservation here for lunch on recent stay in Rome. It is recommended to get reservations weeks in advance as Michelin star restaurants book up fast, particularly during the summer months. I'd heard rave reviews from friends about Per Me so was eager to try it! Upon entering the decor has a very clean, minimalist vibe. We selected the tasting menu, First Steps, which the server would only describe as the chef's selections of the day and mostly seafood, so I guess it was meant to be a surprise! It included an amuse bouche followed by 5 courses. The first 2 courses were an assortment of perfect little bites, usually 4-5. One dish was a raw oyster with raspberry sorbet and some sort of foam, very unusual but it worked! Next were 2 seafood courses, followed by an assortment of bite size desserts. The wine pairings were thoughtful and the meal was lovely. First Steps was the least expensive tasting menu at about $200 per person. There was also a 7-course and 10-course tasting menu I believe. It was a beautiful meal, but I wish the portions had been a little more generous, as I was still a bit hungry after. So often the case with fine dining these days.

Per Me served up a great meal and even better service by the wonderful Mateo. We opted for the 10 course tasting menu for our honeymoon and enjoyed most of the courses. The quail course and the one prior to it weren't my favorite and didn't fit in with the rest of the tastier courses like the phenomenal foie Gras and the ravioli w anchovies. Mateo recommended some great wine by the glass that complemented the courses as they came. The dessert was nice, but I was hoping for a bit more oomph than the pineapple course and the ice cream. The kitchen kindly brought out a complimentary dessert for our honeymoon that was really spectacular. 4 different chocolates and each of them was amazing. The icing on the cake was Chef Gioulio coming out to our table- he was a delight!
Be the first to ReplyVery nice meal at Per me.
We sat at the table in the window which was awesome, service was wonderful, wine pairing was tasty and a great value, and the classics menu was delicious. Standouts were the carpaccio with foie gras, the special white truffle tagliolini, the grouper course, and desserts. Would definitely return here.
Be the first to ReplyFor a Michelin star restaurant I was disappointed.
But to be fair 3 out of 5 dishes were very tasty. The cold pasta and the shrimp scampi and the deserts were all Michelin star worthy. The fish dishes were too fishy strong tasting to be enjoyed. And I'm from the coast and mullet is my favorite fish. His just missed the mark our night.

Fantastic restaurant! The food is delicious and good size portions. Perfect place for lunch and dinner, but you should make a reservation. One of the few great restaurants in Rome! Must try!
Be the first to ReplyVery expensive and not good.
Chose option pushed to have chef choose all 10 courses. The ice cream and piece of chocolate at the end were good but all the food was not. It seemed the chef was choosing how to clean out what had gone bad in the kitchen. We ate all of it but left still hungry.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for New Years Eve dinner.
My experience was exact to how Derek K writes in his review so I will not repeat it all. I've been to numerous Michelin restaurants and this one was average when it comes to overall experience. I left satisfied but there are other places I'd check out before going back. Dishes are well presented but many lack flavor or are not great combinations thereof. The fish dishes are great. I'd score service 70/100 for a Michelin establishment. Our glasses were empty and we had to ask numerous times for wine and water. At one point we went across the room to get our opened wine bottle to refill our own glasses.

My husband and I visited this restaurant during our Italy trip towards the end. At that point, we've eaten a lot of great food, but none came close to per me. We originally wanted to do the tasting menu, but realized we overeat so we did a la carte instead. I'd recommend the tasting menu, though. Or table neighbors did it, and it looked incredible. Try anything, the entire menu looked delicious. I'd recommend the oysters as a necessity. The sorbet is a perfect compliment. What I loved most is how intimate the setting is. There's about 10 tables total and the service is second to none. Also it's pretty inexpensive in comparison to most other Michelin star restaurants. Per me is a a MUST on your trip to Rome. Don't miss out!

Rating: 67/100 pts Per Me Giulio Terrinoni provides a good, upscale meal, but for me it was only average as far as Michelin experiences I've had in the past. I was satisfied with my meal, but given the chance I'd rather try a new place than repeat. *********Vitals*********Recognition: Per Me Giulio Terrinoni is one of many restaurants in Rome with a Michelin star.Cuisine: Contemporary Roman cuisine with a strong emphasis on seafood.Courses & Pricing: For dinner, they have an €80 "choose any 4" tasting menu, or a €130 "chef chooses 10" menu. They also have lunch on weekdays.Location: This location is fairly convenient for tourists, as it's not too far from Vatican City or Piazza Campo De' Fiori. Still, you must do some walking to get here from those areas.*************************We chose the €80 "choose 4" menu. The good thing was that you can really choose any 4 things on the menu, be they appetizers, pastas, or dessert. The downside is that everyone in your party must agree on the same 4 items.Preparation is masterful and highly sophisticated, and the seafood is particularly good. I tried both the mackerel appetizer and the grouper secondi, which were highlights of the meal. Portions were very small; the 4-course meal may not completely fill you up, despite the hefty €80 price tag. Service is trying hard to be good. Trying really hard. It wasn't bad, but there were a few things that kept it from being Michelin-quality. Per Me was actually our runner-up choice for a nice meal; we initially wanted to go to Il Pagliaccio, which is nearby and has 2 Michelin stars, but were unable to get reservations. I'd recommend checking that place out first.
Be the first to ReplyHad the 10 course tasting menu.
Most dishes were okay, none were great. One we did not like at all and the waiter said he would bring us something different (which he never did, even though he did for the table next to us when they didn't like a dish). I'm pregnant so we didn't drink any wine, just water, and they were very bad about bringing us refills. We were often without anything to drink and several times had to flag down wait staff to bring us more water. I'm not sure if it's because we didn't order wine, but every other table around us got some amuse-bouche before the first course. We did not. Every other table also got a tray of sweets at the end of the meal (truffle and macaroon) but again we did not. After we were done with our last course (10pm), they completely ignored us. We were expecting the tray of sweets to arrive but after 30 minutes of no attention (and no water), we decided either it wasn't coming or we didn't care anymore. So we flagged down a waiter and asked for the check and some water. We got water but no check. After about 15 more minutes we asked again and then were told they were having trouble with the credit card machine and we should wait a bit longer (note they still hadn't brought us the bill). 15 minutes later they finally brought us the bill and said they were still having trouble and we should wait 5 more minutes. We opted instead to go find a cash machine. So we walked to a cash machine, paid the foreign ATM fees to withdraw cash, walked back to the restaurant, left cash and left. By this time (11:30pm) it had been an hour since we asked for the bill, 1.5 hrs since we finished our last course. Technical difficulties are understandable but they simply did not handle it properly. They should have been more attentive, let us know what was going on, and really should have brought us complimentary drinks or desserts for our inconvenience and their apologies. Instead they left us sitting there with no water and no updates. This was our last night in Rome and we had plans to go visit some sites at night after dinner (Trevi fountain, etc) but had to scrap those plans because we didn't get back to the hotel until midnight and needed to prepare for our morning flight. Overall, just an okay meal. But a very unfortunate end to our Rome trip and very unprofessional and uncourteous treatment by the wait staff and the establishment in general. They should be treating their customers better when things go wrong even if it's small details like a complimentary drink or treat while you wait.
Be the first to ReplySuch a great experience.
We did the 10-course tasting & accompanying wine pairing. Well worth it. The meal was spread out over 4 hours, so we didn't have that terrible overeating feeling after so many courses. They were small, but it was the perfect amount of food. Giulio came out at some point in the meal to greet everyone. He was really friendly. My favorite dish in the tasting menu was the guinea fowl -- I would say maybe dumplings, but not quite -- that I think he said were his mother's recipe. Also, the scampi carpaccio w/ foie gras & burned mackerel served w/ a side of his dashi made from local ingredients were additional highlights. In any case, all great stuff. Staff was awesome & friendly as well. My wife & I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and they surprised us with a decorated dish.We also started with a glass of champagne -- not cheap -- but it surprisingly came out with what I'd call Course 0. Anyway, that's the impression I got. Other couples didn't start their meal with a glass of champagne, and they didn't get the same "starter" course. Lots of stuff before the main event started.NOTE: if you make a reservation with them via email, they'll email you to confirm the reservation the same day. If you don't respond, your reservation might be cancelled. Luckily, I checked my email about 90 minutes before dinner and was able to confirm. So, just look out for that or proactively confirm ahead of time.
