Piatti San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
We made a reservation and were seated immediately.
Service was friendly but a little slow, we had to wait about 20 minutes before we could order. Food was excellent but the bread was not free. Drinks were also quite expensive and there is a 4% surcharge which is a little bit annoying. Overall still a good dining experience despite the few flaws.
Great food service and ambiance.
The staff is very attentive and welcoming - they allow you to take your time with your meal and create a non-rushed atmosphere. A definite find. Parking can be onerous but it's Lajolla. Great for a business meeting or date night

As my mother always said "I'm not upset, I'm just disappointed " I've been to Piatti before and loved it. So I took my wife for our anniversary and talked about how great it was. Well the service sucked and the food failed to rescue the experience. Furthermore, as soon as we mentioned we had a gift card the waiter gave us minimal attention. We were rushed to order, and our waiter did not come back to check on our meals until we were done. When ordering drinks, my wife wanted to add tequila to her drink and the server said "here are your options" and handed her his POS handled system, expecting her to know how to read the system. The one she wanted they were out of, and he failed to suggest others in our price range and made her select one. My wife also has allergies, and the server failed to have any ounce of care for the allergy requests. The Parmesan cream sauce also was straight cream and was extremely lackluster. They also have a 4% surcharge listed at the bottom of the menu in a font that is impossible to read (and I have good vision!). I will try them again (probably when work pays for it) and have a chance to redeem themselves. But tonight was bad enough we almost asked for the manager. We were extremely disappointed and went across the street to redeem our night, knowing we would get better service.

Pasta was so delish! Came here spontaneously on a Monday night and were basically seated immediately. I got the spaghetti with the veal and pork meatballs and oh my gosh they were so tender and flavorful. The dish was a bit plain otherwise since it's spaghetti so it's pretty standard. They do have a standard of living surcharge of 4% added on to the bill that they say is not a tip, but I think that's extremely unfair. Piatti should be paying its employees anyways. With the high price, it's hard to justify standard pasta.

Food was really good here! I had a lemon cream ravioli that was unique and super delicious, The meal was served with bread and we had a Cesar salad, No complaints from me!
I had a surprise 60th birthday party for my wife at Piatti.
It went perfectly! Food and service were right on. Feedback from all 30 guests were uniformly positive. I'll plan my next event there!
Would give one star if I could simply due to the service.
My roommates 23rd birthday reservation was made for 3/2 at 6pm for a party of 15 weeks in advance. There happened to be some rain that day and instead of the restaurant accommodating our reservation inside, they called us at 5:45 stating that they couldn't have us outside. At this point our guests had already arrived at the restaurant and my roommate was on the phone with multiple people and the manager until after 6pm to figure out a solution. The manager came to the conclusion that our party could try to be fit in around 7 inside or at least see if the outside patio was able to be dried down for us to sit there (either of which we were totally fine with, we just wanted to be able to eat some fantastic food with her guests). However, once we got to the restaurant, we were told our reservation was cancelled. We had not cancelled it and had told them multiple times we did not want it cancelled if there's a possibility they can accommodate us at a later hour. The manager I believe comes out and tells us that she never once said that our reservation could be accommodated later and tried to gaslight my roommate into thinking it is her fault for the situation. The manager told us she received a call earlier in the day asking if she wanted outdoors still-- Which she never did and we have no call log on her phone to prove it-- but essentially called us the liars and said she insisted on it being outside. We tried to show her the log but she wouldn't look at it either. The manager never once said sorry, only that she could not control the weather and that they had to shut down the patio so we could not even sit out there when the rain had stopped for 45 minutes. It is just very very disappointing to come to a nice, expensive restaurant and be treated with absolutely no respect. We were being as respectful and accommodating as we could to the restaurant-- saying we were willing to sit outside even if it's damp or pushing it back a bit. Any other restaurant with their prices would've found a way to make it possible for a large party reservation to be seated somewhere, whether that was outside or inside, and maybe thought further ahead of time than 15 minutes before the reservation time to come up with a solution. This and the attitude were unacceptable. My roommate did not need the added stress of having to find another restaurant to accommodate all of the guests. It felt very unprofessional and not the type of service I expect from such a nice place. I also just do not understand why a restaurant would've just not made an effort to accommodate a 15 person reservation (that would've tipped 20% or more). I do not plan on ever returning on my own accord and I hope the establishment takes some efforts to correct their employees attitudes.
Amazing authentic Mexican place with a cute vibe.
Loved their vegetarian options and amazing cocktail
This place is absolutely amazing.
The inside bar area was so lively and vibrant. Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked so amazing, I wish I had the appetite to order one of everything! This is definitely the most special spot in La Jolla Shores.

Ordered drinks - Lemon Drop and Mezcal Margarita very good, Ashleigh is an amazing bartender! Food - ordered two Ravioli dishes Ravioli which was made with a Lemon creme sauce and Ravioli di Zucca. The hard thing was deciding which tasted better. Both dishes were awesome. Loved the location and the decor. We sat at the bar but really the professional service and yummy food will win you over. Highly recommend.
Thoughts from a local
Great place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary as they put your name on your menu. Food was outstanding, service was fine but we sat too near an open door and across from a loud table. I would recommend sitting outside on a warm night or bundle up under the heaters.
La Jolla high level Italian restaurant
During my business trip needed up (again) at Piatti in La Jolla. Sitting in the garden is a very nice experience. It’s upscale but not fancy so you feel comfortable. Food wise no issues. Quality of pasta was excellent. When back to San Diego and La Jolla will come again.
Welcome back from Covid Piatti
Been going to Piatti since 1995 when my boys went to UCSD in the late 1990's and early 2000. We were disappointed when we went right after covid but it has improved since then. Still the most popular restaurant in La Jolla Shores. My grandson loved the half chicken and the granddaughter almost licked her plate of pasta. The mushroom risotto was good but the Pappardelle Shrimp had more lemon then we liked but it was still good and the portions haven't shrunk like many other places. The disappointment was that the warm Ciabatta bread and dipping oil is no longer free but a loaf now costs $5. Food and service was good, up to the Piatti standards we've known for years.
Great service & awesome food
Ate here last night with another couple. The food was amazing! My husband had a shrimp pasta dish, I had a margarita pizza and the other couple had a specialty pizza. My husband had an old-fashioned and said it was the best he’s had in a long time. We had the best male waiter. I can’t remember his name. Hispanic guy. Esse or something. He was great! 100% recommend eating here.
Piati in 2023
We have dined at Piati for 20 years or more! Last year things seemed different and this year it was definately off!! We seemed rushed by waiter..large event on patio so we were seated indoors by door to patio which was fine. We ordered Brusciatta it was average at best..kind I make on Tue eve with current inventory..lol, Ceasars salad was good. My .chicken was below average!! My friends pasta was average at best..other friend mushroom Rotola was excellent by her report. So Very Mixed Review!! Very Fond Memories of this place..Sad to think...perhaps we move on to new experiences Fond Memories under the Ficus Tree!!!
Great Service and Outdoor Area
We had a lovely evening at Piatti while visiting La Jolla. Service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. We sat outside, undercover without having made a booking (we were lucky to get a table). The food was good but by no means the best Italian we've ever had, my pasta was stuck together in sections and the shrimp was a little chewy. With that being said the food presentation was lovely, and we still enjoyed our evening at Piatti, the setting is very nice and the Aperol Spritz we ordered were very good.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
When do funds get released
My funds from first transaction were supposed to be released today at 5:30 EST. Still showing in deposit account and not main balance

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
