Pizza Pilgrims Covent Garden London Reviews from The Last Year
Banging
Omg what a fab night we had in PP tonight! Food was top notch!! And vibes were immaculate! Stay we’re so friendly and the food was 10/10
Poor customer service and vaping inside allowed?
Visited for lunch after having the brand recommended to me. Restaurant was small and cluttered and our table was so close to other diners we felt as if we were sat with them with not much privacy. From what I could tell the majority of staff seemed polite and on task. However our side of the restaurant was being served by 2 girls who had very abrupt and poor customer service skills. They were both Eastern European with long curly hair which I believe should have been tied up when dealing with food too. Food was average. I found the pizza base quite puffy so not very filling and the amount of ham on our pizza despite paying £3.50 extra for it was laughable. When we were ready to pay we alerted one of the aforementioned staff members. She stopped then became side tracked when one of the chefs shouted over to her and decided to stop dealing with us and wander off into to the kitchen area to talk to him instead giggling and joking around with him as we waited. She never came back to us! A fellow diner was openly calling at his table and no staff stepped in to stop him. We finally had to approach the counter to pay. There were 4 waitresses behind the counter. All of them were apparently unable to see us. After a moment we called ‘excuse me?’ To the closest one. She seemed put out to have been called and when we told her our table number she snapped ‘ it’s paid!’ Very abruptly. As it turns out she was wrong and had messed up our order/ payment etc. Very disappointing. Felt really unvalued as a customer. Only enjoyment here was the delicious cherry soda drink
the best pizza in London
I have never eaten such good pizza outside of my home town of Sicily. The place is really welcoming and the staff are very kind. thanks to Ilaria we had excellent advice on pizza and beer to have. the price is very fair for the quality and location. truly compliments. we will be back very soon
Great pizza and reasonable price
Very cramped restaurant and music was a bit too loud but importantly the pizza was gorgeous. Well cooked and reasonably priced.
Huge disappointment! A broken promise
Really disappointed. The pizza chef is very stingy about the quantity of ingredients. Of the 4 pizzas ordered, all 4 clearly lacked tomato sauce. The same goes for mozzarella where you can guess the number of pieces placed on it. L Adding artichoke at £3.50 is clearly not worth the price or it is also clearly rationed. Dips that come without bread are misleading. We ask for pesto and you receive a small pot of “pale green mayonnaise” ditto for “garlic & herbs”. On the menu available on the restaurant's website, there is mention of arancini. Don't expect to have any, there aren't any. Finally, we were brought menus that had obviously been used as trivets by previous users because there were tons of stains and even a patch of what appeared to be "pesto sauce" smeared on the menu and which made it partially unreadable 🤢 In short, the dough is good made with quality flour (Caputo), the setting can be nice (a bit of a canteen). 30min wait for a promise that was clearly not kept.
Below average
If you love sourdough pizza, go to Franco Manca instead. The pizzas at Pizza Pilgrims are mediocre, dry, salty, with a meagre amount of toppings. PP is also below average for vegetarians. They even lie on their website about certain ingredients bring vegetarian. And the tables are dirty.
Poor service & beware if gluten free!
Our group of 6 planned to eat at Pizza Pilgrims due to their offer of gluten free pizza. We had heard it gets busy so arrived at 11:45am to get a table (the place was full upstairs by midday!) The restaurant was tricky to navigate due to space between tables etc so it was an uncomfortable experience getting in. The menu stated that any of their pizzas could be made with their homemade gluten free pizza base at no extra cost which seemed great - however this was not the case. Having ordered drinks and food for 5/6 of our party I ordered a gluten free pizza and was told they do not serve gluten free pizza until 4pm. This was not indicated anywhere on the menu and we were not informed of this when we sat down. Given the rest of our party had ordered, and given we had 3 children with us, it felt too late to leave at that point. I asked if I could have anything else on the menu instead and was just told ‘no.’ I asked if any of the food could be adapted as I am gluten intolerant not coeliac but the waitress was very rude and seemed frustrated that I wanted to try and order something else! In the end I had a burrata salad without the bread, a cucumber salad (which was just cucumber with vinegar) and some olives. The other food was fine but certainly not worth the money. The rest of my party did enjoy their pizzas which was good however the white wine we were served came warm and therefore we had to ask for ice which was not ideal. The only redeeming thing was the Pilgrim Spritz which was lovely! After 50 minutes we were done with our meal and the bill was placed on the table almost immediately after the plates had been taken away (we hadn’t asked for it!£ I appreciate that there was a lengthy queue outside but most of us were still finishing our drinks when the waitress came over with the card machine! We felt a lot of pressure to leave and all in all felt like we had really poor service (particularly given they added a 12.5% tip to the bill!) We certainly will not be going back and definitely do not recommend for those who require gluten free!!!
Not great
Waited 30 minutes for a table in a makeshift queue outside the rear exit and was constantly overlooked by the staff who were letting party’s of 4 more in first. Very tightly packed inside with a rustic Italian feel to it. I asked for a gluten free 8 cheese pizza and my partner had a normal 8 cheese pizza. They arrived promptly and looked great. I started to eat my pizza and a waitress rushed over and said I’m sorry sir we have given you a gluten pizza by mistake and took it away. It was replaced a few minutes later but was undercooked and bland. They let me off with the cost of the pizza but our meal was already ruined.
Void online order
Choice in Covent Garden district, 28 m from the apartment Online ordering and payment Confirmation receipt: pizza collection is done in another establishment 7 km away Refusal of reimbursement Very disappointed Joyce
Best Pizza Napoletana in London.
Pilgrims delivers the best Napolitano pizza experience. Their quality and fresh produce dough is worth trying. Resources like Farina Caputo brought from Italy 🇮🇹 enhances and keeps their pizzas above others who can't afford to make proper pizzas.
Yeah this is pretty bad pizza.
I just tried a spicy pepperoni with friends for lunch and it was not spicy, didn't have much flavor, and the dough was very undercooked. I saw another pizza from a co-worker that appears to have fries on it or something? What. I need to take a pilgrimage to New York and get myself some proper pizza.

Came here after walking around and being very hungry and tired. The wait wasn't too bad; maybe 15 minutes or so. The inside is small and cozy, but they have outdoor seating if you'd prefer. We got the Margarita pizza, another extra cheesy pizza, pickled cucumbers, and iced teas. All of the pizzas were fantastic. Crispy, thin outer crusts with soft doughy insides. The cheese was fresh. The pickled cucumbers were not for us- they were in some type of oil, and we were expecting vinegar. Overall; fantastic place and can't wait to return.
It was amazing.
I had the margarita pizza and it was superb. The service was great they were attentive and we happy to help. The restaurant itself was adorable and very welcoming. Defiantly a place to stop by for some good pizza.
Was heading to a comedy show in Soho might stop by for some
Was heading to a comedy show in Soho might stop by for some pizza. A few gentleman on the outdoor seating were eating what seem to be some pretty tasty pies; I was intrigued. The server was polite and friendly, helping clear A table outside for me so that I could enjoy the nice summer evening. The pizza was tasty, and I would like to try other ones if I get the chance to go back. The server said that their menu has been entirely revamped recently and offered some suggestions. I think I might skip the Italian soda next time, as it was £3.50 and just okay. Honestly, I think that's less about how PP prepares their Italian sodas, and more about how I feel generally about the drink.
Amber and Alessandro were excellent! The food was fantastic.
Alessandro recommended the spicy pepperoni pizza w honey + Mac n cheese balls. EXCELLENT!! Then for dessert he suggested the Nutella Tiramisu. I don't love either of those things, but together they were great! I'll be back!!
We had buffalo margherita and mushroom + truffle pizzas.
They were both lighter in terms of flavour although the base was very nice. Also, the mushroom pizza had sprinkles of sugar (yikes). I assume it was a mistake. The service is quick. It's small-ish inside, which can make the place a bit noisy. But that's part of the eat out experience.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
