I just had lunch or I would have ordered one of their famous burgers. But for now the Bloody will do. As I hang out with Gerry I am reminded of the history behind PJ's which has been around since 1884. Once you walk in you soak in the old wood, the Tiffany glass and floor that still to this day has missing tile. Remember to ask for Gerry ... he always provides excellent service with a smile.
Be the first to ReplyHad dinner here 3/16 with a party of nine.
Food was very good, service was even better. But the best part of the evening was the manager Mazin Manahi. He made the entire evening so enjoyable with his attentiveness and wonderful nature. Everyone at the table had such a better experience due to his interaction with us. He noted our questions, providing detailed answers that were also accompanied by rather humorous responses. We all loved it! Thank you Mazin for a great great evening!
Be the first to ReplyWe recently had the pleasure to dine in at this midtown P.
J. Clarke's. I had the Cadillac hamburger with fries and my wife had the Trio of Mini burgers with fries. I asked for a medium done and my wife well done hamburger. We thoroughly enjoyed our burgers, they were prepared as ordered. We felt as if we were at home at a BBQ with a Master Hamburger Chef. The taste of the burgers were juicy and the fries were crisp. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The proportion of hamburger beef, tomatoes, pickles and fries were generous in size. We had leftovers. The service was awesome and the atmosphere made me feel like we were sitting in a London pub. A definite return to try other menu items.
Be the first to ReplyFood was mighty fine and very delicious.
It took lots of time for us to get seated even though we had a reservation. The service was ok but took a long time to get our food.

PJ Clarke's, a staple of the NYC pub scene, delivers yet again. My fav location is the original on Third. It is a go-to place for good burgers, good service and a whopper of a check. $1 an ounce for club soda. Sure I can just have NYC tap instead, but seriously folks? The meat patty was an excellent choice of whatever blend of beef cuts they use. I'm too lazy to search it or ask the staff. All that one needs to know is that it was delicious, especially when cooked right--unlike my order. I asked for medium rare and I received medium. Nevertheless, the burger was juicy delish so we'll just ignore their faux pas.
Be the first to ReplyHigh quality food.
It's going to be more expensive around Lincoln, and if it's right before or after a show, there's going to be more people.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot to pop in for a beverage.
Perfectly served old fashioned. Exemplary service.
Be the first to ReplyDon't order the eggplant rigatoni.
It is way overpriced for a small portion of noodles with 1/2 a teaspoon of eggplant. I know restaurants have to make money but this dish was a disgrace. I'll have to go home and make dinner!
Be the first to ReplyAxel was our waiter and he was so attentive and helpful.
The manager working on the night of the 23rd was also a pleasant gentleman to talk to. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere calm and the view to die for.

Somehow we always end up in this place on the way to the Lincoln center event. Partially because there are not a lot of places around that are quick, good and relatively affordable (by the new post pandemic standards ). Partially we like it and have been coming back over and over. And always get a table even without reservations. (Disclaimer. I do not know anyone in this place!)This is essentially a pub, that has a great vibe, quick service, solid drinks and reasonable food at a reasonable price. As long as you are not expecting a chateaubriand and a consommรฉ; and are happy with a beer, a martini or a good Pinot, you are good. GrayGoose martini runs at $19 which bites but no one forced me to buy it.
Be the first to ReplyA mix of good and bad but I don't want to get into it.
Some bartenders were nice and some were very dismissive.
Be the first to ReplyI've admittedly never experienced P.
J. Clarke's in all the years I've lived here. It's just one of those 100 plus year-old New York institutions that slipped through my mind. I think I even at one point knew someone's little brother that worked here but the perks of it never came up. Anyway, came here for a friend of a friend's girlfriend's birthday gathering of sorts the night before Christmas Eve. They had late reservations for around 9pm which was probably a smart way to go. I hear it gets packed here. But on the coldest day of the year - not so much. No tourist was to be seen. Few stragglers at the bar and a few finishing up with their dining. Jumping to the point, I've heard rave reviews about the burger here. Appearing nearly every year in the must to consume New York burger lists. That seemed the way I was going to go. But the chicken pot pie online looked visually tempting and fish and chips is hard to pass up. Beers are about $9 on tap, $8 bottles. I have no idea how much the cocktails are but I wasn't willing to find out on this particular night. I went with the cadillac burger which comes with tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce, double smoked bacon, and american cheese. Ordered medium rare. Ketchup is on the side. Onion is placed under the bun as optional and to scent the bread. Fries are kind of like McDonalds style. I don't hate on these but they're not my favorite cut of french fries. We can go on this for hours. But steak and cottage cut reign supreme. These were albeit well done fries and a close comparison to McDonalds. I'm unsure if that's a good or bad thing for folks. The burger is the star. It's thicker than you would expect instead of being a wider patty. The quality of the meat is superior and it was juicy and cooked perfectly. Definitely a top 5 ranking in burgers I've ever consumed. I'm just not exactly sure where it places. I love the old school feel of the bar and that they don't resort to gimmicks. Pricing is what you would expect - medium levels expensive and slightly fancy but not overtly. It's definitely worth an experience.Only weird part of dining was that we arrived early and had a drink up at the bar. We paid our tab and went to our reserved table that our friends were heading to and the waitresses flipped out over bringing over our drinks, exclaiming that they had to be consumed at the bar only. I pretended I didn't hear them and kept going.
Be the first to ReplyGreat burger, not a value but who cares.
This is a great spot for burgers and drinks. We didn't try the seafood but it looked great as well. I love everything about this place. Is it a bit pricey for a burger? Sure. Do we care? No! Probably suggest the BBQ Burger with Bacon over the traditional CLARKE'S.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a great place! Great atmosphere.
Attentive wait staff! We had Ryan and he was a gem- personable and on the ball. I had the salmon salad and husband had Ruben. Both great. ย Honestly it was really just the scene I was looking for :) perfect.

I always order the same. Tavern burger and fries. Never disappoints. Serve in prompt and professional.

My fiancรฉ ordered 2 New England clam chowder soups and when we received the delivery and opened the containers, we noticed they had a fishy smell. We tasted it and spit it out. This restaurant literally delivers rancid spoiled seafood soups. Disgusting!!

I've always loved PJ's - sitting at the bar with Gerry is a real NYC treat. ย I left the city for a while but back and looking forward to visiting again soon.

I grew up going to PJ Clarke's and it still holds up 20+ years later. This was the first time I'd ever taken out and it didn't disappoint. Although JGs and others might get pegged as the best burger, PJ Clarke's always hits the spot for me. For takeout I got the usual Cadillac burger (sub for Gruyรจre), the baked mac and cheese, and the Caesar salad and of course the onion strings. Everything held up well in the 2 block walk from pick up! Pro-tip: ask for bun on the side and pre-heat the oven to toss the mac and cheese + onion strings right away!
Be the first to ReplyPJ Clarke's had no seats the first time I went during
PJ Clarke's had no seats the first time I went during lunch, so for my second visit, I had to make a reservation. I ordered the Clarke Burger and Point Judith Calamari. The appetizer came out in around 5 minutes, and the main course came out about 10 minutes after. I prefer my calamari to be less squid and more crunch, and this place's calamari wasn't as crispy as I'd like because it was mostly squid. The calamari appetizer is better for someone who prefers bigger squid pieces from their calamari with less crunch. The portion was good for the price. The burger was not greasy which I liked, and the bun was soft. The fries that came with the burger were delicious and crunchy yet slightly salty. No complaints about the main course. The restaurant did get a little loud throughout lunch time during the weekday. Overall, the food and environment were good.

Although the food was delicious, unfortunately the service made the experience terrible. Our waiter, Anthony, rushed us the entire meal. He came to the table a million times when we were looking at the menu--no patience. He took our order once we were done looking at the extensive menu and then vanished. Once we got our food, I had no water for the entire duration of my meal. When he finally came back, we asked for dessert. He told us the kitchen was closed? Thanks for letting us know. Thanks a lot, Anthony. So glad I had guests travel all the way from Japan for this experience.

This place came highly recommended by one of the local reps I was dealing with. I must say the wait on a Tuesday night surprises me, but it was short, and it was well worth the wait. First I ordered a beer and it came in like 30 seconds. Then I ordered The Cadillac Burger, med with fries. It came quick and it came MEDIUM!! Amen hay too surprised me, it was DELICIOUS!! Michael was a great server, his attentiveness was great, despite how packed the place was. He was on top of things and made sure I got a 2nd beer when I needed it as well. I'll be back to NYC in a couple of months, I'll be sure to come here too. I'll try and bring the whole office as well, I think they'll all like it.

Real-life experience that heavily swayed this rating: My date and I walk in from the street entrance and another party walks in from the avenue entrance. The general manager sees both of us, and I clearly was there first. The GM has an eagle eye and seats us first even though it was a close call. Amazing court vision. To the food: really great burger. Cooked perfect medium well. recommend. Truffle fries were delicious. Also recommend. Spicy margarita is super spicy, watch out. Their martinis are strong. Old school no frills burger and fries with good drinks. Would go back.
Be the first to ReplyThe great bartenders keep me coming back to PJ Clarke's.
Question for management: Assuming you're still in business to make money, and that you know the most productive seats in any pub are those at the top corner of the bar - we've had as many as twelve people sitting/standing in that corner - why on earth would you block access with two, two-seat hightops? Financially that makes zero sense. Since I've heard many regular customers and employees complain, I have to wonder why isn't management listening?

The great food is keeping this at 3 stars, if the service was good this would be 5 stars. Horrible service, try one of the other pj Clarke's in NYC. Avoid this one! But the food is still phenomenal. Managers haven't checked on us, I've had multiple servers I don't even know who is our actual server and we it took them 25 minutes to even greet us. And through all of this, we were 2 feet from the front door where the hosts and manager literally are next to you
