We ordered two meals and queso. Food was great. Everything tasted really good.

The food is bland and we waited for our drinks and it took 10mins and when the brought it out they spilt a whole sprite on me and got my phone soaked and everything do not recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThe service was not good.
The place was practically empty but took too long to take our order and bring drinks. Then waited a half hour for our food to come.

I was a little nervous when I got my chips and salsa because the salsa wasn't very flavorful. However, the main course was great. I ordered Carne Asada and got a good portion of great tasting food. Would definitely go back.

The decorations inside the restaurant are beautiful and the staff seems to be attentive. Your middle he given nachos and salsa. Unfortunately the nachos are incredibly average and the salsa is below average. The best I can describe salsa is tomatoes with nothing else added. The prices are above average with an average menu item being around $13-$15 an steak or shrimp being closer to 20.

Walking into Playa Azul you get the sense of "authentic Mexican food". Beautiful paintings and pictures line the walls all over. Latin music plays through the speakers. You're even greeted with a smile by kind staff who quickly sit you down and take your order. Unfortunately, the pleasure and illusion stops there. If authentic is what you're after, do not eat here. The chips and salsa are an immediate let down with a sorry excuse for salsa that more closely resembles watery store-bought chopped tomatoes. Their horchata, while served in a tall and generous glass, leaves you disappointed with the taste of dirty rice water. Their Taquitos Mexicanos, which were meant to be crunchy, were a soft half-fried tortilla stuffed with meat that resembled Taco Bell's ready-to-eat beef. The meat on our other entrees lacked any real authentic flavor and you could practically taste the can that the beans came in. The very short wait time for the food can only be explained by everything being microwaved and sent out.

I am becoming a regular and I am enjoying trying the different menu offerings.

Great prices, service and delicious food. So glad I don't live far. My Husband and I come every Friday or Sunday night for date night

I did not see it on yelp and just happen to be walking by and saw so I went back the next day. It says Tex-Mex I'm not sure why it's very traditional Mexican food. I had the Carne Asada plate. The meat was really good and so was the taco that I bought separately from it. They have really good salsa/hot sauce that had a sage taste to it which I love.Top it all draft Negra Modelo.

One of the best in Wichita! One of our go to spot when my wife and I crave some authentic Mexican food! After moving out here from California we tried many different locations with many disappointments, but as for this one felt like home!!! Dine in or carryout I recommend it!

Recommended to us by a local and they were right! I had a "special", I can't remember the name but it was basically shrimp, steak and chicken with onion and peppers on a bed of rice smothered in white cheese sauce. It was a little rich, maybe I should have asked for the cheese sauce on the side but I ate all of it! Very good. I would go back. Average COVID protocols in place.

Affordable, delicious, great atmosphere, and friendly service! What else can you ask for. The lunch specials are great! The #6 is my meal of choice. Tostada, chicken enchilada and rice! You leave content not stuffed. Highly recommend!

Probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. I'll just list it out... chips were cold, salsa and queso were as thin and runny as water and had NO flavor. The no flavor thing is basically just going to be the theme of this review. Ordered steak and shrimp and the young lady serving us didn't ask how I wanted it cooked so I asked if I was prepared to order and she just says, "I don't know. I dont know anything about meat." So I said I wanted medium rare. Came out so well done that I'm pretty sure it had been cooked that morning or even the night before. No seasoning AT ALL on one single thing on my plate. Everything was so bland... Mexican food... bland... come on...Sides were cold. Meat was cold. Shrimp was chewy and made me feel nervous about eating it. The margarita that I ordered didn't even come close to being as good as the one I make at home with $11 tequila and grocery store margarita mix. I literally ate like 2 bites of my meal and the girl comes by and takes my plate without saying a word to me. Then as my friends and I were talking and finishing our terrible drinks, she comes over and very plainly hints at us to leave because she "wants to go party". I get that COVID has been hard for the restaurant industry, but I can definitely tell why there were no other tables in that restaurant other than us. Worst $45 I've ever spent. I will NEVER be back.
