π 3/5 - I teetered back and forth a bit deciding between a 3 or 4

I teetered back and forth a bit deciding between a 3 or 4 star review for Proxi. Ultimately, the flavors and dishes called for the lower choice. I think it's fair to state we had a true 3.5/5 star experience. I will start by stating that the service was excellent and the cocktails were delicious throughout the night. However, Proxi did not shine through where we expecting-the food was just ok.We love our Chicago cuisine and if we're going to spend $150 a person, we expect flavors that wow and dishes that leave us craving more. Unfortunately, we really did not get that Proxi. Let me break it down for you...There were some dishes we enjoyed. The tempura elotes did live up to the hype and the roasted potatoes were my favorite bite of the night. We also enjoyed the crab noodles and skirt steak. If I had to come back, this would be my order. We felt the other appetizers we started with were a bit of a letdown. The hawaiian bread was far too dry, the banh khot was not served warm enough, and the sweet potato chaat was just fine. The main dishes we ordered felt like they lacked seasoning. The lentil dumplings were dry and the crab coconut custard was not doing it for me. We did enjoy the green marshmallow that came in the s'mores order. However, you only got one of those per person so we had to savor it. The s'mores was great, but a bit of a stretch for $40 ($10 per person).
