PURO ceviche bar Boston Reviews from The Last Year
DELICIOUS! Great customer service, the food is amazing, it
DELICIOUS! Great customer service, the food is amazing, it is a lively place and very comfortable. Perfect to go out and have a nice drink or eat. The owner is so nice and will attend to anything. Went there with my girlfriend for our anniversary and then for her 21st, the owner made sure we had the best time, bet food, and memorable experience! 5/5 totally recommend!
Great vibes, very small and intimate.
They do not have a full liquor license so if you're looking for a good cocktail, this is not your spot. The drink I got was very sour and citrusy.. and wasn't a huge fan(Soi Y Sol) However, the food was AMAZING. We finally found a place that served aguachile and it was to die for! The tuna ceviche was also very tasty. We ordered carnitas tacos and the fish taco. All were very flavorful as well! I hope they eventually get a full liquor license because this is such a cute date night spot and would love a nice spirit forward cocktail. Service was also pretty slow at the beginning but that's understandable for a busy place.
I'm actually obsessed with this place.
It's so cute in here and their seafood is bomb. The ceviche mixto was incredible and their shrimp tacos were so good- the tortillas tasted so fresh and the shrimp was so tender. Our server was so nice and helpful with recommendations. I need to go back asap!
This place has got to be the biggest disappointment since I
This place has got to be the biggest disappointment since I moved to Boston. I was here a couple years ago, got the best service and the best food. The combination of the service at the bar and the delicious food made us want to go back only to find the place completely changed. Awful service, if I could give 0 stars I would. Took hours to greet me and when they finally did, it was with the worse attitude. Service is slow and they seem not to know what they're doing. Food is bland, and the Puro bowl is straight trash, seems like they are using all their leftovers. They painted over the decorations, and it looks horrible. This place needs new management asap.
I must say this restaurant really impressed me.
The service was amazing, along with the food and drinks! I had lobster tacos and a puro bowl and it was to die for!
Some of the reviews really got me excited for this
Some of the reviews really got me excited for this restaurant, only to be let down. All the drinks are SUPER sweet, you're better off sticking to wine or straight liquor. For dinner, the portion sizes are rather large- I did appreciate the waitress letting us know we had ordered enough appetizers, and to cancel 2 of them. We ended up having way more than enough food for 2 people. We sampled the tuna ceviche, elotes locos, patatas bravas, and mejillos con coco (mussels). All of the dishes were average; none were amazing and all lacked seasoning. The environment itself is really cute. I love the colorful murals, the decor, and the feel of a "small bar". I was disappointed in the drinks, and not blown away by any of the food, so I probably would not return here again.

A genuine, comparatively less overpriced spot on Newbury!
A genuine, comparatively less overpriced spot on Newbury! We were a group of 3 walking in on a Friday around 6:30 and got seated at a large table. We only ordered enough food for half a dinner probably: Seabass ceviche - fresh, a decent amount of fish compared to other mix ins, but couldn't really appreciate the usual butteriness of cooked seabass. Not super memorable. 3/5 Calamari - the tubes were so mini and cute, fun to crunch on! But a small portion, 3.5/5 Fish tacos - these were less of that typical beer batter-type fried fish, more just a thin spiced breading, so texturally it wasn't very satisying to bite into. Flavors were good, but not memorable either, 3.5/5 Cachapa - my favorite! A corn pancake with a sweet maple butter flavor but the corn flavor comes through too and you get little bites of corn kernels plus saltiness from the queso fresco. The texture is dense but soft, not fluffy, kind of like Sarma's cornbread, more like a pudding. The smoked aioli highlights the sweet and savory combo wonderfully! 5/5!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible quality of PURO's plantains. Although they aren't crispy, I found the softer texture to be enjoyable, especially when paired with crumbled fresh cheese on top. The standout dishes on their menu are undoubtedly the seafood ceviche and the grilled octopus. The ceviche is expertly seasoned and strikes a perfect balance of tanginess. As for the octopus, it is simply amazing! It's incredibly tender, not at all chewy, and has a delightful charcoaled flavor that personally, I love! The service at PURO was both friendly and fast, adding to the overall positive experience. Situated on Newbury Street, it's a great spot to sit outside, have a chat, and indulge in some people-watching. I will definitely be returning to PURO in the future!
Made me feel at home
Fantastic, authentic food. Really enjoyed the calamares fritos and the camarones. Great environment and friendly staff.
Had lunch here during the week.
The mixed ceviche was really tasty and the octopus was delicious. They only negative was that the service was a bit slow despite not being busy.

Great hidden spot with amazing ceviche - we had the octopus and sea bass ceviche and then the shrimp tacos and all of it was just so good. Even the plantain chips you get. Ambiance is a great hidden spot below the stairs and a good energy for our late night
A great evening with dear friends from Italy.
We ordered the Tacos, the Tuna and the grilled octopus. All of it delicious! Beer selection was perfect and the service was very attentive and very friendly. Truly a little gem on Newbury Street! The atmosphere is very cozy and frankly feels far away from Boston. ;)...
