Our family went to Rao's Italian Restaurant at Ceasar's Palace on 11/20/21. We had the worse service from an Asian short male waiter (note, we are Asians also)! He did not even introduce his name and the special on the menu for the night. We were expecting top-notch service, but instead, the service of this waiter ruined our night! We almost wanted to walk out! Service was so slow; the waiter was not attentive nor respectful. My Dad ordered Bombay gin with a lemon twist, and this waiter, with a stern tone, asked my Dad, "What do you want, double or single?" It is amazing how this short Asian waiter told my husband, "You know people want double sometimes, that's why I'm asking." I could see in his non-verbal gesture how he was prejudiced and appeared as if we were not worthy of courtesy and respect. In the service business, the perception of the customer is always important! We ordered red wine from this waiter, and again, his response was, "What kind of red wine do you want?" Instead of giving us the choices of red wine, Rao's had to offer. At this point, I was ready to leave and walk out! However, my Dad wanted to order some red wine. This time, the short Asian guy stated, "What size do you want?" Oh my gosh, his tone was rude and condescending. He could have informed our family politely that there were two sizes and explained what the Rao restaurant offered! Lastly, we are a Ceasar's Palace Diamond Total Rewards member. It was surprising how we were treated rudely without courtesy and respect! If servers get training to set aside their hidden prejudice and bias, we would not have this experience. We have been going to numerous fine dining all over Las Vegas. Our dining experience at Rao's was the worse! Our food came late, what was on the menu and selection of wine drinks were not explained, and the overall service was horrible! Never again we'll go to Rao's at Ceasar's Palace!!!My receipt showed the name of the server was John. This was the only time I found out his name. The food was not that great, considering the price. I would instead go to Cheese Cake Factory!!! Plus, worse experience with the service! Calling the leadership team at Rao's, please make sure that your waiters and servers get training to be courteous to their customers, regardless of their ethnicity. The waiter's hidden bias in treating their customers would manifest through their choice of words and nonverbal gestures!
