If I had to describe this meal in one word I think that word would be "unpleasant". From the start of the meal to the finish this had to have been the most unpleasant meal we had in France from our entire 3 week journey (a journey that encompassed 8 other Michelin starred restaurants with 13 stars total)- a huge disappointment considering this was supposed to be a Michelin 2-star and one of the world's best.It started with the table... a kids table, haphazardly placed next to the waiters' station, such that we could smell the dirty dishwater and the waiters actually brushed up against me as they streamed in-and-out of the kitchen about once every second. We told them all of this. They said they had no other tables. Which was true- there were no other tables- including the one they placed us at. This was not a table anyone should have been seated at. We should have left. But sadly we powered through. That said, the food was decent. I don't think it was even 1-star quality (a chewy duck breast here, woody asparagus tip there, etc.) but we had much worse from at least a couple of other similarly acclaimed restaurants so no big whoop there. But the night was perfectly punctuated and fully summed up when the chef, David Toutain himself, who was in the kitchen that night, proceeded to have a full-on, yelling-at-the-top-of-his-lungs, dish-breaking, temper tantrum. Right in the middle of goddamned dinner. Because we were at the shittiest of shitty table, only we were able to witness this foolishness. Some people enjoy that type of drama. But we go out to eat in nice places to get away from stress and negativity, not to be confronted with it in the middle of a very expensive, underwhelming dinner.Anyway, this was not a world's best anything. And service-wise, I certainly don't think it was of the quality of ANY of the Michelin restaurants we've visited in France OR any other part of the world for that matter. In short- DON'T GO HERE. There- you've been warned.
