Been coming here everytime I am in Tahoe and I love it!! A break from burgers and pizza! Food is amazing and so is the staff.

Dined at samurai several times before and after Covid. The food is always delicious. It's a gem in South Lake Tahoe. Samurai has a central fireplace seating area and sushi bar seating along with normal tables. Sapporo beer there was one server and assistant for all tables when I last visited. Our waitress and her assistant did great. It's not fair to compare samurai to other Bay Area Japanese restaurants. I will return to samurai next time I'm in South Lake Tahoe.

Delicious food, so very, very fresh! Loved the interior fire pit. Sushi always adds up, especially when my grandson ordered four orders of octopus. Will go back!

Unfortunately when we called they didn't tell us they had a large party of friends of the owner. So we sat and sat and sat and sat and finally they felt guilty enough to give the 4 of us a small bowl of edamame. Meanwhile plate after plate of sushi went out to the owners friends. So 1.25 hours later and still no food. Nice people, terrible experience. And because it got so late and the doors were closed and they still had this large group, there wasn't any opportunity to order more food. So we went home barely fed and disappointed. Try down the street a block at Off The Hook.

Chef embarrassed a patron about a month or so ago because apparently the patron didn't tip the waiting staff. That patron was spending over $100 literally every week, but still the Chef thought it wise to call him out because apparently spending over $400 a month at their business wasn't enough for him. How about instead of ridiculing the customers that keep your business afloat, you instead just pay your staff a livable wage so they don't have to go begging tips from patrons?

FAIL..... ouch. Went on a busy night, they had one adult waitress the rest were kids who had no idea what was going on. Needless to say it was a disaster, waited 45 min for anything to come out and ended up going to the bar myself to get drinks. Looked around the restaurant and everyone was not happy. All this continued so we went elsewhere. Someone trying to cut corners by having cheap labor from inexperienced kid staff. Shameful! Go to OFF THE HOOK SUSHI right up the street. Great vibe and adult staff service and food.

Samurai is definitely my favorite restaurant in South Lake Tahoe. It is a must go if you are in the area. The food is high quality and extremely delicious, the ambiance feels very welcoming and peaceful, but the service is a little slow. Drinks come out very quickly but the food does take quite a while. I rate this dining establishment 4 stars.

We've been here several times and have always had good food and good service . I only gave it a 3star due to the curbside appeal. Awful ! If this was my restaurant I'd clean up that entry . That broken yellow bucket of trash has been there since I've been going there which has been three years ! It just bugs me to think they can't spend a couple minutes to clean up the planter bed and a few bucks to put some plants in instead of all those weeds !! Also , they've had dirty sand bags right by the front door that aren't needed everyday . It's just laziness to not clean up and take pride in your restaurant.

This Sushi place is a Gem! Luis and Isiah were the perfect host! They served the most delectable food! The uni was very good as well as the rest off the dishes that was served. The service is absolutely impeccable - Must try!

Had 4 separate rolls and all 4 were ultra bland. Customer service was ultra poor. They didn't even check with us. Definitely not coming back.

This restaurant came highly recommended, sadly it was terrible! We ordered our food waited a very long time to be served. Couples that sat down ten minutes behind us had their food on the table. Of the four of us my food never came to the table. The server even came over to ask how everything was??? Um hello?? I ended up telling her to scratch my order since everyone else was done with their meals. How generous to give my husband the locals discount for the inconvenience a four dollar discount...Super bummed about the entire experience. Currently eating sushi from Whole Foods!

Did you see a single word in my review mention Asian? The result is that we paid because we ate the food, we got a discount because of the 1.5 hour waiting, but the "gentleman" staff never apologized for yelling at customers. That's it. Trip at Tahoe is perfect except this evening.

Decided to try again tonight, and we will never be back! Slow to take our order. Then after a hour and a half waiting, a waitress asked if we'd received our order yet. NO, we hadn't! She said our order was given to someone else! After another 10 minute wait, they brought our order of two rolls. I looked around, and everyone else had normal sized rolls, but ours were puny, I've never seen rolls that small, WTF? My wife is allergic to shellfish, so we made sure not to order anything with crab or shrimp. On the way home she had an allergic reaction, so they obviously don't clean their utensils or work surfaces! We got a whopping $6 discount for our painful experience! It has a nice ambience with the circular fire pit, but that's the only good thing I can say for this place. There are several excellent sushi restaurants in South Lake Tahoe, no need to settle for this place!

Let's start with the service, we have been waiting more than an hour to start getting our food, and the last dish arrived easily 30 minutes after the first one. So it took about an hour and a half to get the food. And the food was not even good, I think I could have the same quality of sushi at Whole Foods. Unless you have no other options, you should pass your way.
