Starting with the complementary mole sampler was a great start to a wonderful dining experience. We enjoyed the service, the artwork on the walls, the drinks and the amazing food. We also enjoyed watching Chef make the rounds of the tables and check in on folks. My mixed drink and food was outstanding!. Deep flavors, great pairings. I got the chefs special where you pick your protein and your mile and then the chef picks your sides to compliment. I opted for duck with a semi-sweet mole. Chef chose mashed sweet potatoes and roasted beets as sides. It was phenominal.

Service and ambiance were perfect and our waitress was amazing. The food was all excellent and it's a menu for any foodie to love and try new things or stick with more classic dishes. We don't drink alcohol but I had the prickly pear virgin margaritas and it was delicious and their wine selection is excellent if that's your thing. I was not impressed with the chefs chile en nogada dish but it was interesting to try. It was overly sweet and I believe the sauce was meant to be cold but it either cooled the chile part or the chile part was plated too soon... anyway it was a good dish but had issues with execution and I think in the dish fundamentally flawed in its flavors or I had it on an off night. All the other dishes especially the shrimp enchiladas in a delicious creamy poblano sauce- perfect. We had the berries and creme and the "symphony" dessert (cant remember the exact name) it was insanely delicious and complex in flavor.

Your visit to Santa Fe will be greatly enhanced by dining at this fine restaurant. Do not fail to order the sopa de amor and the Symphony dessert. Both are some of the best dishes I have ever had, anywhere. Amazing and delicious flavor combinations. Service and ambience are also tip-top.

Definitely try the chefs soup. It just works!! Excellent food, service and ambiance. It is a "must" for any visit to Santa Fe
Be the first to ReplySuch an experience.
BEST restaurant in Santa Fe hands down. A must if your here. The Service was impeccable, the molé flight to start your meal was such a fun way to start off dinner. The food well let's say it's in the top 3 best meals I've had. My husband and I have been reminiscing since we left.

When traveling to Santa Fe, you have the challenge of selecting from a range of outstanding restaurants, both award winning, and ones coveted by the locals. Sazon fits the bill for both. Whether speaking with shop owners/employees, Concierge professionals, and even cafe servers, everyone agrees that Sazon, and the food created by Chef Fernando Olea, CANNOT BE MISSED. We were able to secure a table and were welcomed with warmth and a genuine spirit for the love of food and serving to guests. We started unusually with a dolce- showcasing exquisite flavors of ginger, beets and sweetness manipulated into a sorbet that was wrapped in a marzipan textured coating made of these same flavors. The tasting menu is the way to go, allowing Chef Fernando to share in his love of flavors, fish, meat, fowl, and shellfish. The sauces and flavor enhancing accompaniments are really what make these dishes remarkable. The walnut sauce which accompanies a meat dish is decadent, and Chef makes the best mole we ever tasted. We won't ruin how the meals ends, but don't pass up dessert. If you want to make the evening even more extraordinary, allow the sommelier to pair your dishes with fine spirits and wines. A special shout out to the our server, Megan, and of course, to our new favorite Chef, Fernando Olea.

I can't say enough about this fabulous restaurant! Definitely a 5 star experience from start to finish. A warm and welcoming atmosphere with all team members focused on patrons pleasure. Chef-created seasonal specials in cocktails, appetizers and entrees. Truly a feast for the senses! Patrons are greeted by the Chef himself as he makes his way to every table. This is a very special place and definitely a repeater for us!

Sazón is a fine dining restaurant that specializes in traditional Mexican cuisine and recently received Best top 10 Restaurant in New Mexico. Chef Olea creates sophisticated flavors using Old Mexico's indigenous and culinary traditions alongside ingredients from around the world. Chef Fernando Olea, James Beard Best Chef of the Southwest 2022, is originally from Mexico City. He has a unique interpretation of contemporary and traditional Mexican dishes. Chef Olea creates sophisticated flavors using Old Mexico's indigenous and culinary traditions alongside ingredients from around the world. The menu is short but distinctive, featuring fresh and locally sourced produce and meats. My companion thought the Sopa de amor was the best soup he has ever eaten in his life! Wow, that is saying something. This is not traditional Southwestern food, the shrimp enchilada was stacked tortillas with shrimp and not spicy at all. Sazon has won many awards and accolades. Try to get a reservation well in advance of your visit. We reserved for next year!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was excellent, but the service was far too
The food was excellent, but the service was far too aggressive. Even after ordering expensive entrées, we were loudly pressured by an upselling male waiter to order an appetizer and I caved in. It was way too much food which caused friction between me and my dining companion. Some of us like fine dining better than the all you can eat trough! My entrée was $65 and came with five pieces of halibut plus a cup of rice and broccoli - no appetizer was needed. We were also asked to pay and leave after two hours for "another seating" (on a Monday night, Dec. 18). I was shocked. We had also ordered two expensive alcoholic drinks each and had barely finished eating. We had not been advised of this requirement when we were seated. The food was excellent but overall this did not feel like fine dining and I will not return.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was top notch.
Every single plate was an explosion of new flavors. The moles are a delight but the attention and atmosphere are what will make us come back. The service was just increíble and they were able to accommodate 10 people and were kind to all of us.

Sazón will most definitely hold a well deserved spot in my top 3 favorite restaurants of all time. The uniqueness and intriguing flavor profiles are what makes this restaurant such a stand out. There's a complexity and evolution to many of their signature dishes that I have never experienced anywhere else. I can't describe it in any other way, and even if I tried it wouldn't do it justice. The service was exceptional, such friendly, positive, down to earth energy. (Thank you Lacey for guiding me on "The Experience".) Even the other customers were intermittently talking to each other and giving some food recommendations, it was really great. I also had the opportunity to meet the Chef, who is not only creative and innovative but modest, and humble. (Plus wears a really awesome hat!)
Be the first to ReplyA special dining experience in every way.
The service was absolutely outstanding. Cocktails were well crafted. Every dish was enjoyable, but the duck breast, the sopa de amor, and the huitlacoche were standouts. Sazon's flavors are smart and generous. A dinner worth going out of your way for.

I'd have to say one of my top dining experiences in Sante Fe. They have their own brand of Olive Oil which you can buy at their store. Smaller cute place with very loved and executed food. Really good menu.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a unique and first class dining and tequila flight
This is a unique and first class dining and tequila flight tasting experience. The moles are delicious and expertly balanced combinations of flavors. Don't skip the chef's signature dessert- a rich flavor and texture combination of sweetness and spice. Great staff too! Angelina and Thomas were great hosts. Eat at the bar for a fun time talking with locals.

We dined at Sazon during the Santa Fe, NM Wine and Chili Fiesta. We had to make reservations 3 months early, as Chef Fernando Olea was the James Beard 2022 Winner, Best Chef of the Southwest ... boy was that award well deserved. Dining at Sazon was one of the most incredible dining experiences we have had in years. Definitely going back on our next trip to Santa Fe! Best advice is to put yourself in the hands of the wait staff and let them guide you through the meal. Our dinner began with a prickly pear margarita and the Clooney Coin, which is basically a straight up margarita with Casamigos Blanco tequila. Both of the cocktails were phenomenal! As an appetizer we had the sample platter of the chef's seven different moles, all excellent, with super depths of flavor. It was hard to pick a favorite... We had the Sopa de Amor next, the chef's signature soup. OMG! They tell you to not stir it, just put your spoon in and and lift it out. The soup had layers of flavor, some hot, some a little cooler, a sublime fantasy of flavor. For entrees, we chose the duck breast with one of the red moles (I don't recall the names, one green, one red). The duck was expertly prepared, and the moles off the chart greatness. We also had the Cholula, a tower of poblano pepper, ground lamb, pork and beef, nuts, dried fruits and spices in a cold creamy walnut sauce, littered with pomegranate seeds. Crazy delicious! I've included photos of the menus with this review, read them and dream! LOL BTW, service is perfect, attentive but not intrusive. If it were possible to give Sazon more than 5 stars, I would give it 10!

This restaurant is worth all the hype (James Beard winner)Food was creative, beautifully presented, and above-all: tasted incredible. As another reviewer said, the food truly "feeds the soul". The atmosphere is charming Santa Fe, cozy and art-filled space. And the service was A+++: The front of the house seemed a united team and made us feel welcome/special. The chef visited every table (and seemed genuinely pleased to do so) and Julian was the best server we've had in recent memory! Professional and attentive, he was so knowledgeable about every dish and helped us navigate the menu perfectly. You receive a sampling of moles to begin, so if you order a dish that involves a mole, you can select which one you like best (or in my case, I relied on Julian's recommendation - paired the green mole with halibut special - sublime). My squash blossom special appetizer was equally good. And the bartender was also up to the task: I had a margarita that I feel is the best in Santa Fe (and that's saying something, since you'd have to try hard to find a bad margarita in this town!) And finally, the unique desserts and after dinner drinks topped off the perfect experience.

The food and service was great! Mole tasting to start was so fun and interesting. Loved the whole experience.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for an anniversary dinner last weekend.
We had an 8 pm reservation and tried to order a bottle of wine. The first 3 bottles that we wanted to order, they were somehow out of. The 4th bottle of wine we suggested was in stock. It was painfully overpriced, not at the right temperature and overall disappointing. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable. She told us all about what we ordered and was clearly very excited about the dishes but when they arrived, they were not great. The food was over-cooked and just simply not worth it. I wouldn't go here again and wished we had spent the meal somewhere more memorable.

One of our most favorite meals EVER!! Wow what an experience! We were able to order our own mole sauces to pair our meal. The art on the walls was superb. When anyone is traveling to Santa Fe we tell them to go here for the food and the ambiance. Whenever we say let's go back to Santa Fe, it's because of Sazon

Food is meh and incredibly overpriced. (eg. $65 for overcooked halibut fillet miraculously served to me 5 minutes after I put the order in.)

In keeping with the times, this restaurant has increased prices dramatically. It might be the most expensive restaurant in Santa Fe. It's best to peruse the menu on-line and see if what you might enjoy fits your budget. Thank you.
